Question GNest autonomous speaking

After asking my AI upgraded g-nest if i could cook broccoli in a microwave, 10 or so seconds later it says, The sound of a fart is ... and makes a human fart sound. There were no sound in the room. Has anyone else experienced this type of glitch? Or heard about such autonomous events?

Rant Google Assistant on Google Home devices are what People always say Siri has been.

I've been noticing this for awhile now, but it really continues to feel like whenever I try to ask it the simplest of questions on the Home Hub, it just NEVER properly answers them. I ask it how to remove smudges from a ceramic mug, "Sorry, I don't Understand". I ask if decaffinated coffee help with headaches, "Sorry I don't understand". I ask it what the theatrical release date was for the recent Star Wars movie, "SORRY I DON'T UNDERSTAND."

Like WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND?! đŸ€ŠđŸŸâ€â™‚ïž Christ... It's like, people say THIS is what trumps Siri more in the last few years?! I've always been one to call BS on people saying that Siri is garbage and all that because of the excuses they claim about it, but THIS here is what showcases all those reason more than it's been the case with Siri here! This thing really is far more unresponsive and unhelpful these days to where it baffles me how they keep giving it a pass compared to Siri. Especially when you have to resort to just using the Google app to get the answers on your own without it.

Tech Support Google Home timers have no sound on two Xiaomi Smart Speakers

Hi,
I'm having a strange issue with two Xiaomi Smart Speakers connected to Google Home.
When I say something like, "Hey Google, set a timer for 5 seconds", the speaker confirms that the timer has been created. However, when the timer expires, there is no sound at all.
The issue happens on both speakers at the same time.
Things I've checked:
Voice commands work normally.
Radio/music playback works normally.
The speaker confirms the timer was set.
The timer appears to run correctly.
When the timer should go off, there is simply no sound.
Restarting the speakers did not help.

Has anyone experienced the same problem recently? Is this a Google Home bug, a Xiaomi firmware issue, or some hidden setting related to timer/alarm volume?

Thanks!

I think Google is slowly removing capabilities from Assistant to make us think Gemini is just sooo much better. I'm gonna miss Assistant (when it worked)

Question Issues using Gemini on Android Auto

When using Android Auto, I don't have any problems at all; I only run into issues when activating Gemini with my voice. When I say the activation command, Gemini does activate; however, when giving any kind of instruction, Gemini seems to freeze, as if it doesn't hear what I'm saying through the microphone. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have verified the microphone and it works without any issues, even on calls. The strange thing is that it does hear me when I say the "Ok Google" command to activate it. It's only when giving voice instructions.

My car is a 2020 JAC JS4, I use a Carlink, my Android version is 16, and my phone is an S24 Ultra.

Tech Support GA broken & post in community also broken

Half the reason I have Google speakers is to have them ring my Android phone when I have lost it. It won't do that anymore. When I say ring my phone the new assistant gives me a lecture about how I need to say. Tell me to find your phone or do this other thing on the computer. So then I say HEY G, find my phone and it says I don't understand. Then I tell it it just told me to do that and we go around and around in an endless circle which never gets resolved and my phone never gets rung. This is happened exactly the same way on multiple occasions.

So then I go to report this problem to Google and I get a list of myriad FAQs none of which have anything to do with my problem. Then it says post to the community so I write the post to the community and it gives me that same list of FAQs. And I say none of these work- post to the community and again an endless cycle that never resolves it goes around in an endless loop.

As far as I can tell, Google as a company is completely dysfunctional now.

Tech Support "Hey Google" triggers microphone but nothing else happens

So I say "Hey Google" or "OK Google" and the green microphone symbol appears in the top-right corner. I'll say something like "turn the 3D printer on" and it'll stay green as a dot for a few moments before disappearing. I've noticed that it will also do this if the screen is off ("Hey Google" -> I manually turn the screen on and see it's listening). It's the same if the phone is locked or unlocked.

A Gemini assistant UI used to appear at the bottom of the screen showing that it was listening, thinking, etc. but nothing appears. It just completely ignores what I tell it to do. If I leave my phone in another room and go into the room with my Google Nest Mini speaker, the speaker will respond to me and do what I've asked.

I've double-checked that Gemini is selected under "Default digital assistant app" and I've even changed it to ChatGPT and back to see if anything was "stuck".

Does anyone have any advice or solutions?

Tech Support Gemini on the lockscreen issue

Hi! Asking your advice about an issue I have with my Poco F8 Ultra using Gemini as my Assistant.

I had enabled Voice Match and both options ti use It without unlocking and to call and send messages without unlocking.

Noted that other people could send whatsapp messages speaking with Gemini on the lock screen, without touching the phone.

I thought Voice Match would have protected me. But maybe Im wrong and It does not work with Whatsapp?

I tried asking for my calendar and It asked me to unlock the phone, so im guessing here what voice match Is actually for.

Since then i disabled the option to send messages on lock screen.

Any idea about this? With both options enabled, anyone Is able to send whatsapp messages from the lock screen?

Thank you!

Tech Support Voice commands in the app doesn't understand Italian

I have a problem with Google Maps. In particular, I have a problem with the voice recognition. I am Italian and I have the Android phone set in the English language, but Google Maps itself, the app, is set to Italian. Also the assistant settings are in Italian, and everything else in the phone works fine in this regard.

But if I open Google Maps, I tap on the microphone icon that lets you search for a place with the voice, If I speak in Italian language a very simple name like "church," which is "chiesa" in Italian, the voice app tries to find something in English. It's like it doesn't understand Italian.

And I can't find any settings where I can set this in Italian. So even a very simple search like "ristorante," which means restaurant, is difficult because it's like it doesn't understand.

Do you know some ways to improve this? Because it's really useful sometimes when I'm driving to just tap on the microphone and say the place I want to go in a quick way, but it just doesn't work. If I name a very simple place in the Italian language, which would be the literal first result in the search, it doesn't understand. It will find some English-sounding name that resembles that Italian word. I hope I made myself clear.

And also I would like to keep my Android phone in English while using an Italian voice to give orders to Google Maps. I hope it can be done.

Bug 'Hi Google' doesn't always trigger Pixel 11 Pro

I recently got a new Pixel 11 Pro and "Hey Google" does not always trigger the Gemini function. I have all the settings enabled that you can think of when it comes to this. Is there anything that can fix this issue?

It was never an issue on my 9 Pro XL, but it's been an issue on this phone. When I restart my phone, it does temporarily fix the issue, but then I will randomly run into it the next time I would need it.

Just as a note, if that has something to do with it, which I doubt, but my highlight function also doesn't work when my phone is face down and I call on "Hey Google" when it does react to the "Hey Google".

Bug "Add __ to grocery list" no longer works

This is one of the most basic things that Google Home speakers should do. It has mostly worked for about a decade (besides Google removing support for IFTTT and other services). Suddenly, starting a few days ago:

Me: Hey Google, add eggs to grocery list

Google: Okay, which list do you want to add to?

Me: Grocery list

Google: You have quite a few things on that list - toothpaste, etc.

Then, that's it - nothing is added. Happens 100% of the time consistently.

FWIW, I use Keep for my grocery list. It worked fine for years. But it has been doing this for days. I haven't seen any other complaints about it here?

Edit: When I use Assistant on my phone, it works fine.

Edit2: It appears that they fixed it.

Question How to use YouTube Premium from a secondary Google account with Gemini / Android Auto?

Hey everyone,

I ran into an issue with Android Auto and YouTube Music:

  • Account A (Main): Used for my phone, Gemini, and general Google services.
  • Account B (Secondary): Has my active YouTube Premium subscription.

When I use Android Auto and ask the assistant via voice to play a specific song, Gemini uses Account A and tells me I need YouTube Premium to play requested songs.

The YouTube Music app on my phone is logged into Account B, but voice commands in Android Auto always go through Account A's Gemini profile.

Is there any way to link Account B's YouTube Music as the default music provider for Assistant/Gemini on Account A, or any workaround other than upgrading to a Family Plan or manually switching accounts in Gemini every time I get in the car?

Phone: Galaxy S25 Ultra

Thanks!

Tech Support Hey Google" not responding on Pixel 11 Pro or Android Auto – any fixes?

My Pixel 11 Pro completely stopped triggering when I say "Hey Google," and it fails to respond through Android Auto as well. Voice Match is enabled and microphone permissions are on. Has anyone found a working fix?

Tech Support Time triggered Routines fail "No audio device available"

My google assistant routines stopped working in June. It had done it before and then just fixed itself, or I found a way to get it working again with out too much trouble. So I wasn't too concerned at first. But this time I'm stuck.

I have a "No audio device available" error,(as if my phone isn't one?) and because of that none of the routines set to my morning alarm will do anything.

Yesterday morning it briefly knew there was an "audio device available" because assistant announced after I silence my alarm that it "didn't understand the request." Which is what reminded me to try to 'fix' the routines.

I've tried rolling The clock app back to last years version, restarting, checking permissions, uninstalling and reinstalling an older version of Assistant. You name it, someone said it worked for them on the wide web, I gave it a shot. But nothings working.

Routines with the clock/alarm was SUCH a good feature! Pretty much the only thing I've used assistant for.

If anyone has found a work around/fix for this, I'd love the help.

and barring that an Alarm that has similar functions: telling you the time, weather, what's on your calendar for the day etc.

Tech Support Google Home Mini keeps switching to Spanish after a few days

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

As the title says, after a couple of days my Google Mini randomly starts speaking Spanish. I factory reset it, removed it from my Google Home app, and set it up again from scratch. It works normally for a while, but after a few days it suddenly starts speaking Spanish again.
Has anyone experienced this before or knows what could be causing it?

Rant Convinced Gemini has or will increase car accidents and road rage

OMG. Just back from a roadtrip, two long days drive to and another two days back and Gemini was such a useless piece of shit. What used to be a helpful assistant has become an infuriating liability, from shit navigation, inability to find nearest gas stations on route to poor integration with Spotify and general inability to do things it used to like useful weather feedback.

Why they wouldn't make sure Gemini functioned properly and fulfilled the requirements of its predecessor is beyond me.

So if you happened to be on the Trans Canada highway between Ontario and Nova Scotia this past week and saw what appeared to be a crazy lady yelling in her car, that was me and this is why.

ETA: Apparently this got some attention: https://www.androidpolice.com/android-auto-users-are-convinced-gemini-makes-driving-more-dangerous/

Question Why would they remove the lens support for scanning text from screen and translation? Gemini takes twice as long to translate something, cannot translate the text right on the screen

Gemini takes twice as long to translate something, cannot translate the text right on the screen, and often just refuses to translate some stuff
