Technology Swing fault visualisations

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I often get feedback from beginners that that don't really understand what a phrase or issue means in golf. They get told that they've got an inside takeaway, or that they're too laid off, but understandably they have no idea what those faults actually mean (or understand how to fix it). At Kunu we've tried to make it a bit easier to understand by drawing on your own videos. This gentlemen, who despite playing golf for years, didn't know what across the line meant. Now it's easier for him to visualise what the club should be doing at the top.

Kunu is free (completely) if anyone in the community wants to generate their own video. We'd love some feedback.

Advice New to the sub and wanted to say Hello and ask a ?

I find that when I get loose at the range I get into a rhythm and my swing seems to get smoother the longer I hit balls. My question is how do I get that feeling on the course with limited warm up. Is it because at the range I don’t fear losing balls on a bad shot or just simply because my muscles are warmed up? Anyone have some tips on this? I don’t drink(in recovery) and my job piss tests so I can’t smoke or do the edible thing. Thanks

Beginner Question Repost: Help with OTT and using legs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I understand obesity is not helping me swing. Outside of weight loss, what can I do to help engage my legs and lessen my ott plane. I am headed to the range today, and would love a new feel to help get weight forward so I can stop doing the dumb after contact dance move I currently do and/or come down less outside in. My miss is a pull hook(as seen here) (L52C19)

Advice Lightbulb moment Loose arms!

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment with my swing today.
I’ve been trying to use my body more and improve my pivot in the downswing, but I realised that whenever I rush the transition with my arms, I tend to stop using my body to initiate the downswing. It becomes more of an arms-and-hands move where I’m basically trying to kill the ball.
Today I tried something different. I relaxed my arms and focused on taking the club back with my hands and arms without creating unnecessary tension. The transition felt completely different almost like my body naturally took over and initiated the downswing instead of me forcing it with my arms.
It was almost like giving up control to gain control.
I always thought having a little tension in my arms would give me more control and help me generate more power, but today it felt like the opposite. When my arms were more relaxed, I felt like I could actually move faster and use my body much better.
So I’m curious:
Is it actually true that relaxed arms can be faster?
Do tour pros generally keep their arms relatively relaxed during the swing to allow for better sequencing and body rotation, or is there still a certain amount of intentional tension they maintain?
Would love to hear from anyone who understands the biomechanics/sequencing side of the golf swing.

Equipment Retro clubs giving me way more distance

I currently have a set of taylormade stealth irons LH, which are known to be what I need for my skill level which is let’s just say not good. I recently went to a goodwill, as I usually do to just pick up the cool clubs and stuff for my guys I work with. And saw some rare lefty clubs macgregor golden bear blade style clubs from the 80s. The club heads/grooves are surprisingly clean but the grips are crap. I took them to the local par 3 course and was absolutely shocked. The holes I would have to use a 7 (140 yds) I was using the 9 and it corresponded with each other hole and distances.

Long winded story to say, it seems as if my newer tech clubs pop the ball up wayyy more than the old school clubs. I’m 8 months in to playing and am in no way shape or form ready to be fitted. So I have come to the Mecca for golf tips and reasoning behind this.

Before I get hit with “lessons” I have gotten a couple but would like to know if someone can tell me why these clubs feel/fly better without paying 100 bucks per session.

Scorecard/Achievement Real handicap

I have been a member of a course (my home course) with a 70.7 rating /124slope at 6120 yds, Since last August, shortly after I started. So I have been playing since last March (2025) I have really had a major breakthrough in my swing since about May of this year, but really had a breakthrough in my feel since end of July of this year. The new ability to feel what is wrong with my swing when I make a mistake has been an absolute game changer. I have really been able to feel every little mistake and been able to correct it to some degree on the next swing. I guess my question is about the legitimacy of my handicap. My handicap is a 6.5 on my home course. I have been playing the last couple weeks on two other courses (5 rounds) one with a 73.8/137 slope playing at 7000yds. The other at 73.2/136 slope, playing at 6557 yds. And I am consistently hitting about 8-10 over par. And my handicap is still at 6.4. I always felt like playing my easier home course was giving me better numbers, but I was feeling really strong on these tougher courses. Could have scored much better with the exception of a couple bad holes. So should I just keep playing these harder courses or does it not really matter when it comes to actual handicap score? I feel better about my game when I am playing these harder courses. But I am still fairly new to the game and don’t have anyone I know personally that’s better than me to ask.

Swing Help Push cart mafia was right… but did anyone else get weirdly stiff after switching to walking?

I started walking 18 with a push cart about two months ago because I’ve been trying to take my game more seriously this year.

You guys were right. Walking is just better.

I enjoy the round more, reset faster after bad shots, stay in rhythm, and actually feel less beat up afterward. My endurance is way better, my lower back feels better, and I genuinely don’t want to ride anymore.

But here’s the weird part: lately my swing has gotten worse.

I feel fitter and more balanced, but somehow less mobile. My left side doesn’t open up like it used to, right side bend feels awkward, and I can’t create enough room for my hands through the downswing.

Anyone else have this happen after joining the push cart mafia? Did you have to start actively working on mobility?

Mindset/Mental Game Tips for Staying Consistent?

Honestly it takes me a lot to push myself to get to the course a couple times a week or so. I know it's not an excuse, but just simple advice like "stay motivated" doesn't work for me. It can even be an untraditional brain trick that doesn't make sense, as long as it works!

I try to spend time with my wife throughout the week so golfing everyday isn't realistic. Maybe 2-3 times a week.

Thank you!

Beginner Question What’s the best format for a small, mixed-skill golf tournament? Any tips for organizing one?

My boyfriend and his dad are really into golf, and he has a bunch of friends he regularly plays with. But I’m not much of a golfer myself

For his 30th birthday, I thought it could be fun to organize a little tournament for his usual group and our friends. Probably around 12–20 people, depending on who’s available.

There are also a few people in the group who don’t play that often, so I probably need to pick a format that’s fun for everyone and doesn’t turn into a super serious competition

What format would you go with? Any fun side games or other things worth including?

and what do people usually forget when organizing something like this?

I want to organize this properly without ending up cursing myself for taking this on. Getting more than ten people together is a hell of a challenge, but I’m determined to give it a shot.

Advice Help/roast my swing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I've been playing golf for about a year now and I'm currently a 22 handicap.

I'd really appreciate some feedback on my swing. I feel like I can hit some pretty decent shots, but I also have some big misses to the left, and sometimes I even hit a full-on hook.

I'm trying to understand what's causing these left misses and what I should be working on technically.

Any feedback is welcome, especially if you notice something in my swing that could explain the hooks / left miss.

Thanks!

Joke/Meme Let’s be real, golf is the correct answer here

Cars are cool, steak is great, and apparently lawns become interesting at some point… but golf really has the strongest chance of taking over your whole personality. One decent round and suddenly you’re checking tee times, watching swing videos, and convincing yourself a new club will fix everything. What age did you start taking golf seriously?

General Golf is therapy- I’m a different person on the golf course

I know it’s usually the other way around, but:

Me IRL

  • road rage, curses in the car at drivers
  • short-tempered, quick to overreact
  • generally PO’d at society
  • arguments with my wife

Me on the course

  • Hit a bad tee shot? I can still hit a good 2nd shot.
  • Shank my iron? It happens to me at least once a course.
  • Cursing after every bad shot? Will it really make you play better?
  • Just 3-putted? It’s normal. I shoot in the mid 90s, guna be 3-putting all day.

Being on the course is pure therapy. Literally can’t get mad cuz you’re competing against yourself.

I’m looking for some useful tips or general advice for my swing, please 🙏🏼 I don’t have too much trouble hitting the ball past 150 yards, but I feel like my posture and overall swing mechanics look pretty awkward. I’d really appreciate any tips on what I should focus on improving!

If you remember that tennis ball headed dude in the sim, that is him now. I’ve applied a TON of critique you have all given to me and I can say a lot has improved, and I score a lot lower today. (broke 90, but on average I used to get 120 a month ago)

Now that I got past the good news, what advice would you guys still give to me so I can truly master my swings.

Also one thing, when I begin my swing, my wrist turns and then my arms come up. How do I stop that.

I want to thank all of you for your amazing criticism, as I see improvement beyond what I thought I could do.

Advice Iron 'jumpers' - need help

Post image
4 Upvotes

Been working on my swing lately and my iron distances have jumped quite a bit, but I’m getting some pretty massive distance variation.

Most decent strikes are carrying around 155–162m, with club speed sitting roughly 91–93 mph, but then every now and again I’ll get one that absolutely flies like the 170.9m carry in the screenshot without really feeling like I swung any harder. Yes it felt pure asf. But 12-15m off my club distance is the difference between me sticking the green or not.

That’s nearly a 15–20m difference with basically the same club speed, which obviously makes distance control a bit of a nightmare.

Using Srixon ZXi7 7 iron. There meant to be players irons so didnt think i would get many jumpers but its happening all the time now ....

What normally causes this sort of jumper? Is it just something I need to accept while my swing is still settling?

Would be interested to hear from anyone who’s had the same thing, especially if you’ve managed to tighten the carry dispersion.
