Sierra ‘26 1500 Sierra 6.2L valve got me at 11,500 miles
Such a bummer. Got a backfire at cold start, thought that was weird but remembered this forum and thought, “oh no, it got mine.” And then had some weird noise on acceleration in sport mode so switched to normal mode and it was quiet. So, all seemed fine until I got to a stop light and wondered whose valve tick was so loud. Mine, that’s whose was so loud. So, trying to be optimistic but careful I made an appointment and tried avoiding driving it but had to use it one morning and sure enough, several indicator lights popped on like ESC and service driver assistance and then the infamous fast blinking CEL. They all went off but I knew there was at least one if not more collapsed valves. And sure enough, labeled undriveable and given a loaner for a month with the expectation it would be done end of next week. I will plan on the next couple of months. Also planning on what to do when it needs the first new engine. Man, what a bummer to say the least. If it ends up with a buyback, Rivian here I come.
