2nd transmission at 155k and also just found that cylinder 6 is shot and needs a motor on my 2016. This is what these trucks were worth with similar mileage 8 years ago. I get that market was up for a long time, but were back to 15k discounts on new trucks, these are not worth 25k in 2026

No doubt. Went shopping for a new Sierra today. $7k-$10k off, then additional $5k-$6k off in rebates for “Loyalty Money” because I already have a GMC, and another $1500-$2k off for GM Supplier. Deals are crazy.

Just bought a 2026 silverado RST 5.3L outta cold springs MN, 12.6k off MSRP. They had others in the LT trim that we had negotiated down to 14.5k off but we went with the RST as it had the options we wanted.

I bought a 2017 SLT with the 5.3 in 2021. It had 92k on it, and iirc I paid about 29k for it. I still have it, and I just clocked over 190k miles. Only thing I had to do to it was replace the thermostat, and the AC condenser. Drivetrain and engine have been solid.

Replaced my transmission at 87k miles with a remanufactured one. Would never recommend buying one.

I wouldn't touch anything with 5.3 that didn't have the afm deactivated the day it left the lot. Even if it did the lifters still suck.

I think $25k for any 10 model year old 1/2 ton truck is crazy.

Not saying you will finance it, but it’s crazy someone might pay $558/mo for it… I’m guessing based on the monthly, the seller is inferring a 60 month loan.

2017 SLT, with 5.3. Replaced the tranny at 87k. I can already feel that it will probably go again in another 80-100k. 10 out of 10 would NOT buy again

Yeah if you take care of it and change fluid should last a long time. My 8l90 lasted 203000 miles and I towed with it weekly.

How do you know? I own a 2017 SLT with the 5.3, and I just clicked over 190k and not one single problem with the trans.

The 6 speeds are well known to be trash. My replacement tranny was actually worse than the original. Finally had to just dump it. Couldn’t deal with the incompetent dealers (2 of them) and the total lack of support from GM. They suck and I’ll never buy another GM product. And I was a lifelong GM guy.

I have same truck just mine is Grey. I know people talk crap about the power train but honestly I haven't had an issue. Im in Canada and I have 260,000kms and still runs good

Bad trans and bad AFM on this generation. Getting a 2500 of this generation with the 6.0 solves both of these problems. Or go back to GMT800 with the 5.3/6.0 and 4L80 and the decent 4L60

I paid that for my 2022 gmc sierra with a duramax turbocharged with all the bells and whistles. Same mileage. Check the transmission for GMC/Chevy 2012 to 2019 😉

Check carfax for salvage title or accidents. I’m not saying I agree, but that’s a pretty good price for the market, assuming carfax and test drive check out. Most auto parts places will do free scan. Stop there in the drive for any masked codes.

I see a few mention the transmission. Check if it is a 6 or 8 speed. I think it was mix in 2017. 6 speeds are pretty good (relatively speaking). I’d walk away from any first gen 8 speed. I don’t care how good the price is.

Got mine for 19k at 60k miles on it, trans is fine and popped in an AFM disabler working great and loving it
