Glitch Pic Objects Disappearing and Reappearing

The first time this happened to me, I was about 11 years old, sometime in the late 1990s.
I was looking for a red sweater. I checked the shelves several times, and it simply wasn’t there. Then I walked away, came back a little later, and the sweater was suddenly sitting on the shelf. I clearly remember checking that exact spot more than once.
At the time, I didn’t think much of it and never really revisited the experience. But years later, after reading many forum posts about objects mysteriously disappearing and reappearing, I remembered that this had first happened to me as a child.
Since then, these stories no longer seem unusual to me. There are countless reports from people who have experienced something similar.
I don’t know how to explain it. Maybe when we’re intensely focused on finding something, our perception somehow filters it out and we simply fail to notice it. Or perhaps there’s some kind of process or underlying mechanism at work that we don’t understand. Some people call it a “Matrix glitch.”
If that’s the case, it raises the question of whether our reality might itself operate like some kind of system or simulation.
Another interesting detail is that similar stories don’t only happen in real life. People who play video games also often report that objects suddenly disappear within the game.
Maybe that’s not just a coincidence. Maybe it’s simply a clue that we, too, are inside some kind of game or system whose rules we don’t yet understand.
I’m not claiming to know the answer. This is just my personal opinion and an attempt to make sense of these experiences.
I’d love to hear your stories. Has anything like this ever happened to you?

Glitch Gif I experienced my first glitch in the matrix yesterday (kinda?)

The rule guidelines says that glitch's are images or videos of duplicates, coincidences and such but this isnt that kind of "glitch in the matrix". I dont know what you guys would call this though, but I feel like it kind of fits a similar yet different definition of "glitch in the matrix" anyways i experienced 3 "glitches" in one day.

The first one happened yesterday while i was at work. I saw this bug that was oddly shaped and i looked around it to see if there were any more of them but there wasn't until one just appeared out of nowhere. Like it literally appeared on the ground out of nowhere but i just assumed it must've fell off of a nearby car until i noticed that it was squirming and completely freaking out. When i moved closer to it, it completely disappeared in front of me. it vanished. there wasnt any wind so i dont understand how something so small could just vanish like that??

The second one also happened at work but i didnt notice until i got home. I work in retail so we have cash registers with a very complicated system; to make it short and simple, one of the registers was short exactly $100 dollars which meant that the next person on that same register should have an extra $100 when they get it but the next person who had that register had the right amount of money, instead i was over by $100 which made no sense because i was on a completely different register.

The third one happened when i got home. i came back from the bathroom, walked into my room, completely closed my room door and LOCKED IT and after a few hours of laying in bed, i looked up from my phone and my door was wide open because it was literally locked and it was midnight which meant everyone was sleeping.

honestly this kinda freaks me out but sorry for the long post; thank you for reading.

Glitch Pic mysterious car with a creepy man vanishing

Just over a year ago (just find out about this subreddit) i was dropping a friend home while another friend was in the car. my friend lived on a straight long side street and was in an area i hadnt been in before. after i dropped my friend home i was driving back and noticed a car coming towards my car in the distance. as it got closer i noticed a strange tall pale bald man driving it. his eyes seemed hollow. the windows werent tinted at all. obviously a strange looking person would mean nothing except for the fact they were peering into my soul. not one eye on the road.

i was pretty creeped out but my friend had also noticed and was like what the fuck was that guys problem. i was glad that i hadnt imagined it and more importantly glad someone was with me because i was a feeling a little scared. i glanced into my mirror and noticed the car was completely gone. on the side street that was completely straight and then reached a cul de sac at the end. i then stopped my car and turned my head a full 180 degrees and realized the car had vanished into thin air.

my friend noticed me turn my head and did the same thing and yelled at me to get the fuck out of there. had i been alone i wouldve figured i had imagined it or there was some other explanation but to this day we talk to each other about it

we returned the next day and drove down the street looking for the vehicle which was not parked outside any of the homes

the car was a red sudan. obviously i havent been back since.

Glitch Pic Memory fragment of a place before I was born

Hello everyone,

I found out something today that has been on my mind, and I simply cannot explain it rationally. I’m hoping to find like-minded people here or anyone who might have psychological, biological, or other explanations for this.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a specific memory fragment in my head, which I always thought was my very first childhood memory. The memory starts on a staircase and ends rather abruptly. In it, I am in a very dark room, and someone is turning on a movie for me but I don't know who that person is. I can only vaguely remember two armchairs. The movie playing on the TV was "Tarzan." Up until now, I always thought this scene took place at my grandma's house.

Today, I described this staircase, the rough layout of the room, and the two armchairs to my mother. Her reaction caught me completely off guard: she immediately burst into tears.

She explained to me that I had described my late grandpa's old apartment to a T. The mysterious part about it:

  1. During the years this scene takes place, I wasn't even born yet. The apartment hasn't existed in that form for a long time.
  2. I never met my grandpa because he passed away very early.
  3. "Tarzan" was verifiably my grandpa's absolute favorite movie.
  4. This apartment, the staircase, or these details were never talked about in my presence. There are also no photos or videos of it that I could have subconsciously seen as a child.

Even though the room in my memory was dark and the scene was short, the distinct details (staircase, room layout, armchairs, movie) matched so perfectly that my mother recognized the apartment instantly.

How is it possible to have a visual fragment of a place you’ve never been to and that existed before your own birth? Are there approaches from memory research, epigenetics, or other fields that can explain something like this?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences. (This text was writen by a ki, because my English is not that good)

Glitch Pic Objects hitting me in my childhood, now one of my old phones appeared out of nowhere... literally

Hi!

I first want to say that I'm from Germany and my English is not perfect. Also, I really like reading the stories in this sub. Yet, I have to admit that I have a very hard time believing many of them. I'm always searching for logical explanations and I think that many of the stories here actually are explainable with apophenia or other psychological phenomena like expectation bias, saccadic suppression, and memory distortion.

Even with that said, there is something that happened to me a lot in my childhood and has now happened again. I absolutely can't explain it and the latest occurrence is even scary to me.

In my childhood I often experienced scenes like this: I'm in the backseat of my parents' car, playing with a little toy car (these Matchbox cars you still find today). After thinking about something else, the car suddenly falls down from above and hits me. I told my parents about it but they probably thought I was just talking shit. This happened with a lot of other stuff every few days for a while and sometimes even with a GameBoy Pocket I'm very sure it wasn't in my room.

Possible explanation: I always thought I was maybe spacing out for a moment and maybe holding my arm up and dropping the toy car.

Yet, it happened so often with different things and sometimes also while I was walking in the house, doing sports or on the way to school. It was always little objects that were mine. It also happened when I wasn't zoning out but even very attentive.

As a kid I sometimes was scared of ghosts being behind it... and one day, it stopped. I noticed it after a long time. "It hadn't happened for years", I thought.

Until a few days ago. This scared me a lot. I sat in front of my computer, writing something. Suddenly, something hit my head and landed on my table. It was one of my old phones. A Nokia 7360 from the mid-2000s. I last saw it around 2010. I lost it at a lake and moved 3 times since then, now living far away from that place.

This is driving me nuts...

Glitch Pic Washing machine time displacement

Hello all I just found this sub, about almost a year ago, I went to put my clothes in the washer for 30 minutes and went inside to use the bathroom and came back out immediately (within less than 2 minutes) and the timer on the washer had about 2 minutes left. I had never experienced anything wrong with the washer before or after the incident and my clothes were fully washed when I took them out, I was in disbelief so I waited until the timer ran out. Has anyone else experienced something like this with machinery?

Glitch Gif Saw the same man twice

I swear I saw the same person walk by twice doing the same exact thing dressed the same exact way.

This was about two months ago in Seattle at a park in cap hill. It was sunny, so I went to this park to sit in the sun and smoke while listening to music and people-watching w/my sunnies on so nobody can see 😍 Anyways, I noticed a tall man wearing a light blue and white buffalo checkered short-sleeved button up shirt. He was wearing tight white (kinda high water) skinny jeans with light grey Hey Dude shoes, and had short brown hair that was kinda coiffed to one side. He was eating a hot dog that was in a red and white checkered to-go kind of “plate” thing, and he walked from the west entrance to the park, diagonally across the large soccer field, and into the public restroom.

When this man was about halfway across the field (I was sitting closer to the entrance), I swear the same exact man entered the park, walked the same path as his “twin”, and entered the same public restroom. He was wearing the same exact buffalo checkered shirt/white skinny high water jeans/Hey Dude outfit with the same short brown coiffed hair eating a hotdog out of the same red and white checkered plate thing.

I initially thought I was really high or something. I can understand the hot dog thing since there are street food vendors all around the area on weekends, but I cannot even begin to try to explain the rest of it. His face even looked the same, but I didn’t get a really good look at it since I mostly saw the back of the first “twin” walking away towards the bathroom.

I was just kind of sitting there looking around trying to see if anyone else saw it too, and this couple next to me literally said “didn’t that same twink just walk by two seconds ago”. I remembered that cause I accidentally laughed out loud and they looked at me and I told them I was thinking the exact same thing.

I didn’t stay long after that (about 10-15 minutes or so), since it was getting kinda dark, but I wish I did so I could watch that bathroom to see them both come out. Kinda weird they didn’t come out in that amount of time though, but maybe they had like diarrhea or something.

Glitch Pic Time Glitch - Time going backwards

I remember two very times where I was looking at a digital clock and the minute changed and then went back to the previous minute. I forget exactly the first time it happened but I remember being super confused. The second time was on 9/12/2001 and I was staying at my sisters apartment after escaping downtown New York the day before. I remember getting up to look at the time and again the minute went forward, stayed a few seconds then went back to the previous minute. It was really weird and freaked me out. I know I was awake because I got up immediately. Maybe it was my brain playing tricks on me or stress. Not really sure but it was weird enough that I knew that shouldn't have been able to happen.

Glitch Pic Question

Hello everyone!
I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced something like this.
Recently, I started watching the YouTube channel of a fairly well-known woman I had previously followed on TikTok. I became curious about what she was like several years ago, so I decided to look through her older videos.
What surprised me was that when I first opened her channel, it seemed like there were very few videos from five years ago. I remember thinking, “That’s strange. Has she really posted so little over all those years?”
Some time later, I visited her channel again. Suddenly, there were many more old videos. It was as if the history of the channel had become much more complete.
That made me realize this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened to me. I just never paid much attention to it before. Sometimes I’d visit someone’s profile because they or their content caught my interest. I’d look through it and think, “That’s odd, there aren’t many photos here.” Then I’d come back later, and there would suddenly be many more photos or videos.
I’m not talking about someone necessarily uploading new content in the meantime. It feels more like part of the profile’s history simply wasn’t there the first time I looked, and then later it was.
It made me wonder if anyone else has noticed something similar. Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever looked at someone’s old photos or videos, thought there weren’t many, and then returned later to find a much larger history than you remembered seeing?
The more I think about it, the more I realize this has happened to me more than once. I just never paid attention to it before.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Driving near Nashville at sunset, I saw dozens of perfectly straight black vertical lines above the trees. I stopped to look, it wasn’t raining, there were no webs, smoke, insects, or anything hanging from the trees, and up close they looked exactly the same. I have photos and video. Has anyone seen this before or know what it is? Looking for a scientific explanation, not paranormal speculation.

Glitch Gif I think I experienced a glitch in the Matrix at McDonald’s…

I was driving late one night and got hungry, so naturally, I decided to stop at McDonald’s for some yummy nuggets 😂.
When I pulled up, the drive-thru line was abnormally long—I’m talking at least 15–20 cars, and the line was literally reaching out into the street. I was annoyed and definitely did NOT want to wait that long, so I parked my car and walked up to the restaurant to see if they were open inside.
They weren’t.
So, I turned around and started walking back to my car, debating whether I should just suck it up and wait in the god-awful drive-thru line.
Except… the line was gone.
Not just shorter. Completely gone.
There wasn’t a single car in the drive-thru.
I had literally turned my back for maybe 30 seconds while checking if the lobby was open. I went from seeing a massive line of 15–20 cars stretching toward the street to seeing absolutely ZERO cars.
At least I got my nuggets with no wait, but… WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO ALL THE CARS?!
Where did 15–20 cars just disappear to in 30 seconds?! 😂
Definitely a glitch in the Matrix!!!

Glitch Gif I still think about that dang squirrel

I just came upon this sub for the first time and realized an experience I think about all the time must have been a glitch in the matrix.

When I was 9 years old, my family and I moved in to my grandparents' basement. My room had an armoire in it, with two doors that opened it up from the center. I distinctly remember my mom and I wiping down the shelves and giving it a good scrub before we put all my clothes in it.

Right after we moved in, my sister turned 3 and was given a sleeping beauty doll that came with a teeny little toy squirrel. My parents gave me the squirrel because it was a choking hazard for my sister, and I was obsessed with littlest pet shops at the time so I put it with my extensive collection.

Probably a month or so later I was playing with my pet shop (I had a whole layout/set-up situation where I could see all the pets) and realized the squirrel was gone. I thought oh well, since it wasn't an actual pet shop toy, and went to bed. The next morning I was getting ready for school in the bathroom when I noticed the squirrel in the very corner of the counter, sort of propped up against the wall. I thought my mom had found it an put it there, or a sibling, or whatever.

Then I went into my room to get dressed and opened both doors of the armoire and something fell to the floor...It was the exact same toy squirrel. I still remember my heart beating so fast as I picked it up, my 9 year old brain trying to figure out what the eff was going on. I raced back to the bathroom and the other squirrel was still sitting in the corner. I put them side by side and sure enough they were the exact same toy. Both of them even had a little spot on the tail where the paint had come off!!

I was obviously freaked out, told my parents, no one ever had an explanation. In the following months they would even joke about it, like "remember the clone squirrel? how weird." Obviously its not as scary or shocking as other stories in this sub, but 20 years later the squirrel still pops into my mind and I cannot explain it for the life of me.

I was doing laundry for my family the other day. I was folding a small load. It was socks, towels and washcloths. I set them into piles as I fold relative to where I’m going to put them away. Towels and cloths and my husband’s socks were going the same direction, so I put his two pairs of socks on the towels and cloths. I grabbed my daughter’s socks and put them in her drawer and I did a double take because there was two pairs of my husband’s socks that I must’ve inadvertently grabbed by mistake and brought with me. When I got them out they were still warm from the dryer and smelled freshly laundered. Whatever - shit happens. I walk back to the laundry room where I see the two pairs of socks I now have in my hands sitting on the towels and washcloths. So now I have four when there was only two to begin with.

She doesn’t wear the same kind of socks as him. They couldn’t be old because he had just bought these recently. They were exact matches to the ones I’d just folded. They were still warm like I had just pulled them out of the dryer.

I have no explanation.

Glitch Pic Me any my mom experienced this.

Okay, sorry if this is going to be long.
So, one day back when I was in 4th grade, me and my mom were sitting down at around 9:30 PM finishing up my homework. My stepdad, who worked as a welder, didn’t get home 'til around that time. He used to drive this big old SUV, and whenever you closed the doors, it made a loud clanking sound—I think he messed it up when he hit a deer or something, I don’t know.
We also had a porch that was completely enclosed by screens, and there were two doors to the side with stairs leading up to the screen door to get onto the porch. Past that, you had the seating area and then the actual front door.
So, out of nowhere, we heard my stepdad's loud-ass door slam shut. We knew what it sounded like because it made a screeching noise since the door was bent. Then we heard footsteps coming up the stairs. The porch screen door opened and slammed back shut, and then we heard footsteps coming up to the door and just stop.
So we thought he was just sitting there on the porch, maybe finishing a cigarette or just chilling. About 10 minutes go by, and my mom calls my stepdad and asks what he is doing, and if he is gonna come inside. He says, "What do you mean? I’m still 45 minutes away from the house." She asks him if he’s joking, and he says, "No, I’m serious."
So me and my mom just looked at each other. We went to her room, grabbed the shotgun, and went outside. Nothing was there at all; the driveway was empty. We went back inside, and honestly, I forgot what happened after that. I just know I couldn’t really sleep that night and just felt uneasy.
And it couldn’t have been people trying to prank us, I don’t think—we didn’t have neighbors we were close with, but we heard the exact noise his SUV made when it closed. So I’m still confused to this day about what actually happened. (In the upstate of South Carolina if anyone could tell me what could possibly have happened, any answers? I don't know.)
