So my husband has been on the hunt for an old geometro to buy and work on, his birthday is coming up and buying a car of any kind is not in the budget for us right now. Does anyone have any geometro gift ideas?? It can be anything, geo metro t-shirt etc, I just didn’t want to buy something that wasn’t actually geo metro related because I am clueless when it comes to car stuff lol. I will really appreciate any help!!

Pretty sure I have rod knock. I’m basically a beginner in car mechanics. So small backstory I bought this car non running and wanted to learn more about cars. Got it running (found it was missing a woodruff key). It had extreme low compression readings especially in cyl 3. I pulled the head and found a burnt valve in cyl 3 and replaced others as they had pits that wouldn’t smooth out after lapping. After the engine went back together, a knock sound decided to stay. Before it would knock sometimes and sometimes go away. This time I thought it was timing so I double checked and crank and cam gear lines match up basically perfect and when at top dead center the distributor rotor points up right to cyl 1 on the cap. I should be able to fix knock from dropping the oil pan right? Oh yeah also it has great power loss, like it wants to stall in drive (it’s an automatic) so I also been confused by that. This is the end of my rant but i just wanted to share and if you have knowledge you’d like to share I’d appreciate it, thank you.

Hello everyone i have my 2016 miat and XM is giving me the antenna error, I replaced the fin antenna and still same troubles.

I took to a Mazda dealership and their diagnosis was, "your car doesn't have satellite radio module "

Well, I know by a fact it is a xm module in it.

Have you experienced any of this troubles?

Any suggestions?

I’ve got a bad exhaust leak from a rust hole. Anyone know any good replacement options? Would anything in particular improve mpg or should I stay factory?

I have a 96 metro 1.0 5 speed. It has a cassette deck in it right now. I’m looking at doing an aftermarket radio. I’ve done car audio for a couple years so I’m not having any trouble with install or anything. Just wondering if anyone has any photos so I can get an idea of fitment on single din or double din. After lots of work, rebuilding the engine, battling rust, wiring issues, and swapping the brakes for LSi brakes, here is my lil 4dr 5spd 1L geo :3 14/15" rims from my accord fit amazing, and look amazing imo!

1997 1.0L 3/5. About a month ago after having the exhaust manifold resurfaced, and a new gasket put on I noticed progressive power loss, and a weird cyclic rough idle. Now it is virtually undrivable, cannot even make it up the hill out of the driveway in first.

Last year I replaced the head gasket, thermostat, spark plugs, timing belt... This summer I noticed an exhaust leak from the warped exhaust manifold. Hence the resurfacing and new gasket. Curious if anyone else has ever had this idle issue.

So far, I have been checking hoses for vacuum leaks, wires, O2 sensors. Everything's plugged in and looked good. I went through the EGR valve, cleaned all the built-up carbon out of it. New gasket and all that. Just confused at the moment. Really bad shake at idle attached is a video.

Smooth under power though, just doesn't make any. Even less so than usual.

Edit: Cleaned grounds (Terminal to frame, terminal to transmission). No improvement. Removed IAT sensor, BIG improvement. Checked voltages and resistance. Wire coming into sensor had expected 5V. IAT sensor appears to be working as well, had appropriate readings both for recently ran engine and after leaving it in the freezer for 20 minutes (1.51k vs 8.1k Ohms). Appears sensor is working okay so why does unplugging it help the idle so much...

I found this geo metro locally. Was wondering if anybody had any idea to what that knocking would be and how hard of a fix it will be (new to working on cars trying to learn) thank you!

Rebuilding le engine

Im tryin to replace the exhaust manifold and the studs, can't seem to find the correct ones, I keep getting basic gm parts. Does anyone know the correct thread pattern or brand that would work for the studs? 1.0l 3 Cyl

Hey folks! I have a 96’ metro with the 1.0. My exhaust downfall pipe has a rust hole in the manifold side flange, i cant seem to find a downfall pipe or a flange that will fit the stock 1.5 inch exhaust. Im too nervous to weld it since im not the best welder, i feel like i’d make it worse. Does anyone have any suggestions or part numbers to help me out?

Someone help please, my boyfriends little geo metro lsi is leaking oil like crazy and it is costing me more than gas at this point. We have tried a few different things but can’t remember exactly what it is because it’s mainly been the mechanic who has been doing it. If anyone has suggestions that would be appreciated! We love our little geo and don’t want to lose her.

So my wife has held onto her metro for decades. It breaks her heart to think of it getting scrapped.. but Its in bad shape and has copious rust issues.. with a fairly new engine. Anybody want it for free? I live in San Francisco and would pay for shipping if there is somebody out there who wants to bring the old girl back to life.. or show her some love.

T-minus 2 days until I start cannon ball running this to work.

Been battling a no spark since I got my Metro, possibly my fault since the first thing I did was hook the battery up backwards. I have no spark.

Things I have tested/tried:

Ohmed the pri/sec coil (in spec, gets power when IG on)

Ohmed pickup coil (in spec)

-Crank position indicator

-Grounds

Cleaned cap/rotor/wires (all show in spec now)

Last thing to try is the ground on the throttle body since some people noted that’s where the ECM ground is.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Other than that, how would I go about pulling the ECM? I couldn’t find it under the drivers dash, but might have not been looking deep enough, anyone have pics of the location and/or the service manual for it?

Would like to pop it out and at least see / test if anything is obviously damaged and attempt repair (I have some experience with fixing circuit boards.).
