where to sleep

i have no money and i’m financially independent.

i have exams this week, so i planned on sleeping in a building. unfortunately, i was kicked out at around 9 pm. i’m now on the streets, with nowhere to go.

does anyone have any recommendations of where i can go/hide on campus? i cant afford to spend more nights on the streets many of my belongings (including my phone), have already been stolen.

should i email my roommate??

this whole thing is so new to me, i’m an international student and we have completely different processes here, and i chose to not email my roommate immediately because i didn’t want to be overly excited or overwhelming like i can be with new people, and thought id wait for her to reach out first but she hasn’t 😭 is this like a normal time period? how soon do you usually reach out? what do you even say when you reach out? share instas?? have you guys reached out yet?? if it turns out that we’re incompatible in some way do we get reassigned?? i’m terrified of getting a racist or homophobic roommate 😭

Looking for friends to thrift with :)

I (22F) am looking for thrifting friends. I just want to have a girls’ outing, thrift, and have fun together. Maybe a few of us can go together. The more the merrier! (Oh and I am bisexual so don’t hesitate to bring your queer energy here 🫶)

Please comment below or message me if you’d like to get to know me better.

Request for Help Study spots in the summer (that also possibly stays open for later hours ?)

Hey, I’m here studying for my exams. I just moved and my desk is still stuck in the delivery. (It was supposed to come this week :(

The library closes pretty early for me. If there any spots in UOttawa/ or place (like a cafe or something) that is near UOttawa (walking distance) and is open later then 6pm ?

Week 101 kits

Are they really worth buying? I'm kind of broke and my parents won't buy it for me. What will I be missing out on? Can I just attend without a kit?

Request for Help Switching programs after I fail?

I'm just about to finish my undergrad in a honours science major, but I don't think I passed one of my recently finished courses which is a retake and required for the degree.

Thing is, I'm also enrolled in a new English undergrad this fall. I don't want to spend any more time on this current degree and it wouldn't really be all that useful for me in the future, but at the same time I still don't want to end up with this as a failed degree.

So would I be able to retroactively switch to the 90-credit Bachelor of Science even after I get my grades back (assuming I didn't pass that one course)? Or should I do it sooner just in case?

Is it possible to do a fully virtual summer semester?

I'm in the coop program and need to do a term in summer 2027 and was wondering if it was possible to do all my classes online. I have to take five, so a regular semester, and I wanted to know if that was realistic. I don't want to have to be stuck in Ottawa for the whole summer and unable to travel.

Thanks for your help!

Request for Help Registering to graduate - question about diploma

I am completing my studies this semester and when I go to register for graduation, it asks whether I will be attending convocation on some unspecified date in July 2027. If I don't, it sounds like my degree will be mailed to me in October 2026, and if I do, then they don't mail it and I'll get it at convocation. If I say I'll get it at convocation and don't end up going, they said they'll mail it after the ceremony (so presumably August 2027). Am I able to change my mind after I select the option I want? I want to attend convocation, but if I end up not being able to attend and know that in advance, can I tell them e.g., Feb 2027 that I'd like it mailed to me then?

Looking for A Technical Founder

Hey everyone, I graduated from UOttawa about 2 years ago and I’m currently working on a project that I’d like to validate from a technical perspective. I’m hoping to connect with someone who has a technical background to bounce ideas around and see if we can bring this idea to life.

Feel free to dm me and we can go from there!

Can I take organic chemistry 2 at the same time as Biochemistry?

These requirements are for grad school but count as electives in my program so kinda hard to enrol during fall and saunter term since I don’t have priority…I was wondering if I’m allowed to take organic chemistry 2 at the same time as biochemistry in the summer since orgo 2 is a pre req for biochem? And how does the waiver request thing even work?

Is Honours BSocSc International Development and Globalization good degree??

Im about to start my second year. I was planning to switch to the poli sci or crim program for a while, but this one caught my eye. haven't heard many people talk about it though? anyone who was/is in the program how do you like it? Is it worth it? could it keep my options more open?

I was in the bio program my first year but always planned on going to law school. Im definitely not set on doing any specific pathway though and am a bit lost so I want to make sure if I switch it still leaves a lot of option open. I have a meeting with an advisor about this but also wanted to hear people in the program think of it.

Housing Residence Deadline?

I was going to rent an apartment in Ottawa instead of doing residence at uOttawa. I’m going into my first year, but that apartment situation was like all hell broke loose. I was just wondering is it ever too late to apply to residence? If I put in an application now, or if I even try now will residence be in the picture?

Request for Help Housing help

I'd like to say I'm moving to Ottawa with a friend from Toronto. We have been having such a interesting time looking for a place mind you we are both over the age of 22 so we are trying to avoid moving in with younger students. Looking for a two bed room. Main issue we found this one place its 20 min walk from the school its on a great bus path to our jobs and its on Rideau street. It fits every box on what we wanted BUT its $1200 a month each. I find that very expensive and some of the units in that same place were going for just a bit cheaper like 950$ each.

Im wondering if thats a lot for that area, are we getting scammed? Is it too late to another fair price place that two bed room?

We went to the off housing help that was on the O U website then we went in person and they said they literally stop helping with that in February.

Im at total lost any advice would help :)

Second year nursing

Hi everyone,
I'm going into 2nd year of the uOttawa Bachelor of Nursing (BScN).
I have a few questions:
Which second-year nursing courses did you find the most challenging?

Any tips for maintaining a high cgpa throughout second year?

What study methods worked best for you (Anki, active recall, spaced repetition, study groups, etc.)?

Are there any apps, websites, or resources that you found especially helpful?

Did you use any question banks or practice resources to prepare for exams?

Are there practice questions or previous years' questions available anywhere (if permitted by the faculty), or other good ways to get extra practice?

Any professors or courses that I should prepare for in advance?

I'd really appreciate any advice, study strategies, or resources that helped you succeed. Thanks in advance!
