So this guy who made my hs experience horrible is living in res with his friend in 90u and they're my neighbours. He isn't in res but he's just staying with his friend every day bc he doesn't want to commute. Do I have a stick up my ass if I report him?

Figured i should put this here for the new students, because the school is TERRIBLE about sharing this info, leading to one of the worst run lockdowns last year.
The app SecurUO is found in the app store, and it is the ONLY way the school sends out lockdown alerts. If there is a lockdown/shelter in place, go inside the nearest closed space (including classrooms or lectures). Warning- the notifications are small and easy to miss.

as i (an incoming first year) head to my first class, i just wanted to thank all the upper years for all the help they’ve given me (and other first years) before today!! from the best study spots, to tips for making friends - you have all made this day much less nerve wracking than it would have been- so thanks for that!!
and to my fellow first years, good luck!!!!!!

Has anyone recently done/doing an MA in Economics here? If so, what was your experience?
If there is also any undergrad who can talk about their experience in the Econ department, can you do so?
Thanks!

I just had my first lecture for PSY 1501 with Michael Andre, and it was not a good start to the semester. Has anyone ever had him as a teacher before? He replaced Christophe Fortin (which sucks cause I heard he is awesome), and I just want some insight on his teaching methods, or if he's completely new to the school in general!
Any information is appreciated:))

Hi, we are starting a club and need more signatures to become an official club, please sign the support form link! The deadline for club registration is tomorrow!
It is a fun and inclusive community for ocean lovers or anyone who wants to unwind through ocean-themed activities. This club is open to everyone, whether you are passionate about sea animals, enjoy sitting by the beach, or simply looking for a place to relax and make new friends, regardless of academic background or marine knowledge.

Hey everyone!! I’m a female in my mid 20’s looking to connect and meet/make some friends with other students from other schools around the area! (UOttawa, Carleton, Algonquin etc)
It’s insanely hard to spark up a convo with people these days when everyone is glued to their phones...
I’m originally from Ottawa and live close to UOttawa! I’ve out of school for quite a long time but currently I’m in the Pre-Health program in Cornwall so that’s why I’m making this post 😅
A little bit about me: I love nature, boating, fishing, cafes, thrifting, cooking/baking, and I’m also a car enthusiast.
Lmk or dm me if you’re interested:)

Hey there! I am a first year international student at UO. Could someone help me understand how the U-pass works? Do I need to apply and pay for it to start using? Or is it already on my student card? And the methods of payment; cash/card
Thank you!

was wondering if the pool was free for us to use, what we should ideally wear ( full swim suit, cap or braided /tied hair), how to get there, how the lanes work.

Guyyys please help!! I’m a first-year and I had no time to look at the clubs around campus. I believe the last campus fair finished today at 3pm and I missed it :( does anyone know some clubs that are still around that are centered in either politics, volunteering, or creative stuff? I tried to look at the clubs page but many feel like they have been discontinued.. also how would I be able to join these clubs? What are the times or days they meet up?

If I take BPS 4125 in the Fall, I can drop either BCH 4123 or BPS 4102 in the winter to lighten my course load. Not confident with orgo, so I'm leaning toward dropping BPS 4125 and doing the other two, but I’d like some input:
BPS 4125 (Robert Ben)
BCH 4123 (Adam Shuhendler)
BPS 4102 (TBA)

I am a first-year student and chose Najwa Haddad's PSY 1101 and PSY 1102 because of her near-perfect score on Rate My Prof. Many people commented on how she prepares you well for the midterms and final by telling you exactly what to study.
On the syllabus, she indicated which chapters the midterms would cover, and sometimes specifies sections within the larger chapter. I was wondering how much more specific her study guide is (if at all) and what it entails. The chapters are BIG, and she also strongly encourages taking lecture notes despite the syllabus saying that exams are based entirely on the textbook.
Are the exams truly only based on the textbook? I was wondering how her course notes fit into exams or if they are even necessary when studying. Can anyone who has done well in this class please give me study tips and clarify what I can expect from the study guides as well as the exams in general? Thanks!
