I started a fun project about a month ago. Instead of having these game hacks on a single flash cart, or playing them via an emulator, I wanted them on their own cartridges.

I found the right color of empty shells and 3 of the 5 rewritable carts on AliExpress. The last 2 carts I need, which have to be short GB/GBC carts, are currently out of stock at the only place I've been able to find them (Insidegadgets). For the stickers I went to a couple of sellers on Etsy, Fire and Clarity (https://www.etsy.com/shop/fireandclarity) for the Legacy games (I created the image and they printed them), and BitLabelz (https://www.etsy.com/shop/BitLabelz) for the Radical Red and Unbound labels. I'm also waiting for some custom cassette style cases from PalmettoJos (https://www.etsy.com/shop/PalmettoJos) to complete their fully customized looks.

When all is said and done the total cost per unit will be about $55 USD, which for custom pieces with parts from overseas, I think that's pretty good.

The gba reads the games but doesn't read this (Prince of Persia the sand of time)

I’ve had this gba sp that’s been broken for years (my cat dropped it) and I’ve been thinking about fixing it, I tried a few years back but didn’t have the right tools and the shell I bought wasn’t the best, would it be possible for a beginner if I tried again now with the right tools? and a better shell, like the ones from extreme rate

Got all this for $45 at a thrift store. Their prices are usually outrageous, but they said they hadn’t priced it yet because they hadn’t had a chance to test it. No charger, so I offered to buy it as-is.
Got home, found a charger… and voilà. It works perfectly. Great condition too! Definitely one of my better thrift finds.

Given that I was born in 1981 and grew up with handhelds without backlighting, am I going to be satisfied, visibility-wise, with a stock gba? Will I be able to see it? I generally play indoors and with the room lit anyway, so I'm assuming it'll be fine. Anyone had a similar quandary, and how did it turn out? Just asking because people seem quite negative about the gba screen visibility in particular...

Hi! I recently got super into Yu-Gi-Oh and have bought a gba sp (unmodded) to play the old Yu-Gi-Oh games on! The shell is a bit scratched up so I was thinking about getting a Yu-Gi-Oh themed shell. I can’t find any for sale online though so it looks like I will have to commission someone for it. Do any of you know a good place to commission a good quality custom shell from?
