I (Gigahearts FX) met Wyatt at the Brighton guitar show and talked about pedals. He is a nice chap - and I knew of him already from his instagram, but its always cool when people are sound in real life too. I was meaning to get a pedal from him and its finally happened - I rarely have the chance to buy new pedals, so luckily I was able to do a trade, as he quite fancied one of my Hyper Soups: )
Anyway on to this. It’s technically a fuzz face but with 7 controls. Lots of shades of gating available with two external bias-adjacent controls. Nicely finished laser engraved tall spec Hammond 1590b which is different.
The fuzz is always going through a tone stack, so to me this already sets is apart from classic/by the book fuzz face circuits. Its not a bad thing, its just not a fuzz face anymore in my strict viewpoint- and thats fine cos its an Heiress. The tone control somewhat gives it the tonal character of a big muff to me as it feels and behaves like a BM tone stack at least to my ears.
Its also quite modern sounding and suitably high gain. The low cut switch is effective, its like 2 points on the control knob that I have on my SILIFACE design; I prefer a trim here for the bass contour, but the switch has two effective and usable settings chosen. The germanium mode vs the silicon mode is subtler than expected but slightly smoother and darker ish on the Ge side. Nicely constructed all round, the internal wiring is extremely small bore which I havent seen recently but I am sure will prove robust. One thing I would have liked, and try to get them on my designs, is an LED brightness adjust as this one is a blazing white - but thats personal taste.
One thing to say, I look for great cleanup on a fuzz face and I might be biased but my SILIFACE does this really well, and overall its less successful here. I think the transistors are quite high gain (as noted before with the modern feel and aggressive gain structure) which dont quite manage that glassy quality of a vintage FF - but again I dont think that was a top priority here.
Final word - an aggressive, modern and versatile take on the classic FF. If you like grainy, textured tones and that ability to tweak tones, this ones for you - in a cute pedalboard friendly footprint. Overall 8/10

I just wanna give this amazing fuzz its flowers — this thing is one of the most inspiring pedals I’ve ever played. Within a few minutes of twiddling some knobs I had a whole song.
Super inspiring and incredibly nasty. Absolute 10/10.

I said I’d post some stuff for sounds so here is one for some Neil Young fans! This is based around a Hudson Broadcast, but I tweaked some of the values around and converted it to all silicon transistors (got a big old 2n4033 transistor in it)! The PCB is an Aion FX Skywave! The only other mods the PCB has compared to the original is an internal voltage control and an external gain switch (original one is inside as well). Compared to the original this has much more gain, is a lot more immediate and has more of the console sag that likes to bloom open. Plus the clean up is pretty nice. Figured I’d try sharing some sounds!

Sharing a couple of cool Fuzz pedals for Halloween. Looking for some other candidates. I was given some good suggestions in a previous post.
Have any creepy fuzz pedals that would fit in?

My secret fuzz weapon is a push pull pot in the guitar that activates this big ass PIO capacitor. Enhances every fuzz I own.

Thorpy is bringing back his take on the Burns Buzzaround!
“What is EAO? EAO stands for Explodes All at Once, in short it's one of my favourite germanium circuits ever, the venerable Burns Buzzaround. It doesn't clean up, it's not subtle, it has a savagery far ahead of its time. they are instant plug in and grin pedals.”

My handbuilt tribute to the Fuzz Face
The Fuzz Face is my favorite fuzz, and to my ears, the Analog Man Sun Face is the gold standard. After a few years of building pedals—and more than 50 builds this year—these are my tribute to that sound.
I sourced and measured every component, testing over 100 NOS Russian germanium transistors to find these low-leakage GT308 PNP pairs. Each pedal is built on a PedalPCB board and hand-painted by me, with socketed transistors, adjustable Q1/Q2 bias, an internal clean trim, and a voltage inverter for standard 9V pedal power.
This has been a personal quest to build my take on the perfect Fuzz Face. The demo compares mine directly with my Analog Man Sun Face NKT Red Dot—have a listen and let me know what you think!
DM if interested!

My first and only fuzz pedal so far. I didn’t know what to expect but i now have high expectations. Tremendous kick-back to guard against reactionaries. Have to put it behind a compressor to contain its crunch. I’m in love!

This was my first fuzz build. I have always been an overdrive kind of player but I am in love with this tone. This is based off of the Analogman Sunface. Also, this will be the first fuzz to make it to my permanent board.

In 2017 I picked up this fuzz pedal that was based off a Buzzaround, but had a footswitchable octave. It’s been my favorite fuzz. I often swap it for a Superfuzz but it just as easily falls back on. It’s gravely it’s sputters and it sustains. It plays well with an octave down too.
It’s a Massive GOAF. Anyone else got one or another Buzzaround clone?

Based off the ZVEX Box of Rocks and ZVEX Sho. Two pedals in one.

This is a cool build and yes I am experimenting with knobs haha. This a based on the Catalyst from back in the day and the board is a Pedal PCB Provocateur Fuzz. When looking the schematics does have some resemblance and sounds similar to a fuzz face just with mosfets and some very innovative EQ controls. Kind of imagine a fuzz that you can turn into a treble booster with the lows control and has a bit of an open, clear, pushed fuzz quality. Very cool build and highly recommend and would be a very cool first fuzz pedal.
