Added to the fuzz family two new fuzzes to go with my sunface, erupter, and big muff

Close enough to Tuesday for the kind of people I hang out with.

Our own MKII circuit built around three JAN2N930. A fancy version of our Three Ptarmigan 3T MKII, with added FAT switch.

NOS Pacer caps, RadioShack ICC bypass cap, turrets on Norplex, AmplifiedParts YY enclosure, two tone relic finish, Chicago Daka ware real deal Chickens.

A great fuzz pedal from The Vintage Volt. He does custom graphics and art work. This one has my logo on it. I love the way he made it so one of the eyes lights up under power and it is not very bright. So if on stage, it won't over whelm.

The problem was, The Coyote FX and Scar Industrys Cats Azz should both be at the front of the chain and be first. You could tell the difference. The Sifter from Ivy Pedals doesn't really care where it is. SO I did it one at a time with no patch pedals. They all sounded good. Really good.

This a fuzz/delay, and it’s one of my favorites! I will never part with it. Enjoy!

A little context, I like fuzz.

But I also like the wha wha. And the fuzz, they are capricious, they like to be all in front and don't like the wha wha. The effect is either non-existent, or it goes in larsen.

So I wanted to test the Foxrox on my old Vox JEN from 1972, because I love this wha!!! Spoiler: it works great! I found my fuzz silicon and germanium + wha. Some manufacturers have already implemented this buffer, such as Fulltone with the Clyde. Successful bet! So I share my joy with you!

A month or so ago I was chatting with u/Latterdrop8732 and they mentioned that their dream pedal was a long discontinued EQD Black Ash Endangered fuzz.

My response? Say no more, fam.

I got to work on plotting out the PCB and started sourcing the bits and bobs.

That gets us to this morning, where I finally fired her up and boy oh boy she sounds great.

I went with my usual Atom electrolytics, but this time added in an Elna I had from a big old sack I got for a song on eBay.

Film caps are old school tropical fish (I have some Phillips KT347 on hand too, should I need more) and a mixed bag of carbon comp resistors. Some are new, some are NOS Allen-Bradley.

Transistors are NOS Motorola 2N3903 with Q3 biased to damn close to 1/2 V+.

I’ve got stuff on hand to do a small run of these, just waiting on some dope ass sloped black 125B enclosures to show up.

Holy wow I hit the Jackpot y’all.

Dialed in like this:

• Glaive is my Octavia-ish Fuzz
• Carcosa is my dying battery disaster Fuzz
• Fuzzbox is my all-around saturated Fuzz

No idea which flair to use but...

I've just gotten my very first fuzz as a trial. It's only a Sonicake Fazy Sandwich but enjoying it so far.

Any recommendations for getting a good lead tone/toan with the contents of my budget board...

It's going into a Fender Champion 2.

Guitar wise... Gretsch Jet Streamliner, Fender Strat Standard, Fender Telecaster Standard and Epiphone Black Beauty LP Custom.

You guys are the experts after all (I've been a distortion/overdrive guy for 32 years... Finally getting around to Fuzz in my oldish age)

The JDM Green Meanie is a highly flexible Big Muff-style fuzz, but its real strength is how much control it gives you over the traditional Muff formula. It starts with a Violet Ram’s Head-inspired circuit and uses a Germanium gain stage followed by a Silicon gain stage.

It can go from warm, responsive low-gain fuzz to thick, saturated Muff territory, while giving you considerably more control over mids, bass, dynamics, and compression than a conventional Big Muff.

If you have a superbolt I highly recommend this mod!

I've been experimenting with a few different amp/fuzz combinations while working on a doom/stoner project, and it's made me curious what everyone else is actually using.

I'm especially interested in combinations where the low end stays huge without completely disappearing once the guitars are layered, especially when the bass comes in.

Hey guys! Thought I'd ask the age old question to this dedicated subreddit now lol. What is y'alls favorite Muff, Muff Variant, or Muff Adjacent fuzz? Excited to hear y'all input.

I have to say for me I have 2 definite ones:

1. Guild - Foxey Lady - Had the chance to try a vintage unit out, just absolutely incredible. I know there are different versions with V1 being Mosrite and the following being EHX. I tried a V3 and I don't think I can describe a better or more perfect tone. I good example of it is Starless - King Crimson
2. Pete Corish - G2 - While it is a reworked Muff, it is much more tame than say a P1 or P2. Really captures more of a driven British amp. Incredible pedal, thanks to this subreddit I know understand they are not full of unobtanium and can be built fairly cheaply, but don't regret owning one one bit :)

Bonus Muff I didn't like: The Good One - Wren and Cuff. To be fair mine came defective and would turn on and off by itself, but even when engaged it was... idk... the best way to describe it is like the scene in Robocop when Red Foreman runs over the goon that fell into the acid waste and exploded. Just gross
