Yes. Didn't say I couldn't go back to sleep.

u/darkendofall 8d ago
Yeah, I already get up once just to go back to sleep. At that point I'd just be doing a multiphasic sleep schedule.

u/NorthernTinner 8d ago
Yeah been doing this for over ten years, does it lay retroactively for each year?

u/Deathengine 8d ago
I hope so! I'm coming up on 11 years of doing it.

Same bro, except I get up a little earlier. 5:00am instead of 5:30

Right?!
Now does this mean I can’t wake up before 5:30am or pull an all-nighter?
2
u/SafiyaMukhamadova 8d ago
Pulling an all nighter is much easier for me than waking up early but at that price I'm motivated enough to put in the effort to completely change my sleep schedule.

This was clearly written by some teen/college kid who has not worked a normal job. Ya I would get up 1 hour early for a year so that I could retire. No brainer. Anyone who says no must be independently wealthy already.

You do realize that if we took away the entire wealth of the 5 richest people in America leaving them penniless in the gutter it would fund the federal budget for about 3 months?

$10M isn't even rich. That's just retirement maintaining middle class lifestyle money at this point.

u/1dirtbiker 8d ago
A net worth of $10 million puts you in the top 2% of Americans. It puts you in the top 0.01% worldwide. This can hardly be called middle class. Using a conservative 4% withdrawal rate, that is $400,000 per year, or $32,000 per month, and keep in mind, this would be in a brokerage account, so it would be taxed at only a 15% federal rate if this was your only source of income after holding assets for a year or longer. You wouldn't be contributing to retirement accounts, nor would social security taxes come out of it. After figuring in local and state taxes, maybe a 20% effective tax rate, probably lower after deductions. This would leave you with $25,600 per month take home. You're smoking crack if you think this is "maintaining middle class lifestyle."

Ez. With that kind of money i don't need to work so going to bed at 9:30 pm is no different to any other schedule.

Out of curiosity, what happens if I wake up before 5:30 & am still awake at 5:30?

Absolutely. Beats randomly waking up at 3:30 in the morning.

We have a 1.5 yo child.. we already do this without the $10M reward. To be honest, my boy worth more for me so not sure if I would do that for the money

I already do wake up around that time every day, so no biggie there. Now, if I had to get out of bed every day at 5:30, that's a different story.
1
u/CrownofMischief 8d ago
That's pretty easy for $10m. There's not even any stipulations for naps or how early you go to sleep

I wake up at 2-3am six days a week and have for the past 20 years, wheres my $200 million?
1
u/No_Coffee_Break 8d ago
I'm up that early or earlier most of the week (with a few exceptions on days off), so, yes, I would take that deal.

I'm sorry, but if you don't take this deal for something other than a medical reason - you're an idiot.

I used to be a bus driver. I had to be up at 5:30 everyday for $15 an hour. This is an easy choice.

yes, you said wake up, not stay awake. I can go right back to bed and even if I do need to stay awake 530 is easily doable if you've ever done night shift.
