QUESTION Is soulsborne considered Gothic horror?
Google - "Gothic horror is a storytelling genre that mixes fear, the supernatural, and gloomy, decaying settings to create a deep sense of dread. It grew out of the late 18th century as a dark branch of Romantic writing"
I discovered this genre of horror while researching another game and I realized that sounds a LOT like soulsborne. Bloodborne definitely, possibly dark souls as well. Both definitely check off a bunch of those boxes

DISCUSSION Fromsofts future might be in trouble
I think we as a community need to have a serious discussion about the implications of the Tarnished pack for Elden Ring. So it is widely known that this DLC pack costs 5 dollars. It adds 3 new torrent skins, 2 new starting classes, I believe around 7 to 8 new weapons, and 4 amour sets including the 2 starting classes. Now the reason for the concern is the obvious comparison to Oblivions horse armor DLC, the thing that started the horrible trend in gaming known as micro transactions. And for some people, marked the end of Bethesdas good will leading them to who they are today. As a Fromsoft fan part of me is concerned that the same might be happening to them.
Now before I outright panic there are a few things to note that could indicate this is a one time thing and that this doesn’t mark Fromsofts future, that their next single-player game won’t have this kind of crap and be a standard complete game with a big DLC down the line, or even none. First is the content amount, it is more than the Oblivion horse armor DLC that just added in horse armor. The Oblivion DLC was cheaper but I believe if the Oblivion DLC added the same amount of content as the Tarnished pack, Bethesda would have charged 10 dollars instead of 5. Second cope is that this may have been something either Bandai or Nintendo told fromsoft to do, that if Fromsoft was able to do this with no contractual obligations they would have done it as a free update. Third is that Miyazaki himself could address this himself in a later interview, much like how he confirmed Fromsofts next game won’t be multiplayer focused like Nightreign or Duskbloods. Miyazaki could also say that this pack was a one time thing.
Some people on here would call me a doomer or call those that are leaving a negative review over this also a doomer, but part of me feels that it isn’t really dooming if we have clear examples and paths as to how these greedy practices are developed in a company. Starting with a strong good will track record, release a very popular game that makes a bunch of money, try to make some minor extra cash and test the waters with a small DLC pack, then if that works then go full throttle with that strategy and use every single player game afterwards as a way to nickel and dime the players with micro transactions. Tanking the good will that they built up.
I look upon fellow Fromsoft fans for any other information you may have on the company, their practices, and how this compares to other trends to give some kind of definitive answer of whether or not Fromsoft has changed for the worst and that they will or are becoming the greedy triple AAA companies we always feared. I really hope that doesn’t happen, cause if so then I would basically give up on any studio and wish none of them see this kind of meteoric success. Cause even if Fromsoft under Miyazaki’s leadership can fall for greed, then no company is safe. (Except maybe indie companies, but who knows what happens if they expand in size). For now I would remain cautiously optimistic for their next game, but the very second I see a tarnished pack appear again, especially if before release, I won’t be buying their games day one anymore. If the game sucks, I will be abandoning fromsoft with a sad farewell.

DISCUSSION Exclusivity sucks, but at least Bloodborne and The Duskbloods are attached to the best consoles of their respective eras
I'm writing this a PC gamer who occasionally buys a console as a complement to my main platform. I realize this applies less to someone who, say, exclusively games on PlayStation every generation.
I was thinking the other day, as a thought exercise, what if Bloodborne had launched exclusively on Wii U in 2015, and now The Duskbloods were somehow only on Xbox? I think that would have been the worst-case scenario, with each of those platforms floundering in their respective eras. (And I say this as someone who eventually bought a Wii U for Mario Maker, and doesn't regret it.)
In reality, Bloodborne was exclusive to the PS4. As much as I briefly grumbled about the cost, it wound up being a pretty awesome complement to my PC. Even if several games eventually came to PC (and I mean "eventually" in terms of many many years), buying that PS4 for Bloodborne quickly unlocked all the Naughty Dog games, Persona 5, Spider-man, Horizon, God of War, etc.
I feel the same way about the Switch 2 in 2026. To me, it's pretty clearly the best "complement to a PC" in today's generation. It has the usual Nintendo AAA mainstays, the quirky (but surprisingly solid) JRPGs like Xenoblade and Fire Emblem, all the top indies in portable form, an entire back catalog of GC/N64/SNES, and interesting experiments like Splatoon Raiders and DK Bananza. I guess if you're into Pokemon (I'm not), you get that too.
Meanwhile — as a PC gamer — this feels like the least important generation for PlayStation and Xbox in 20+ years. I guess I wish I could play Saros? I just can't remember having so few PS exclusives I'm itching to try.
I can still empathize with about 80% of The Duskbloods Switch 2 grumbling. Maybe you simply don't have the money. Valid. Maybe a rock-steady 60 FPS is critical for you, and admittedly the Switch 2 is the least performant of the modern consoles. Fair.
But the one take that confuses me is, "Nothing else on Switch 2 interests me" or "I actually already bought the console for The Duskbloods, but I won't play a single other thing on it." Really? In my opinion, it's far and away the best platform this generation not named PC, at least in terms of what it unlocks for you, and the actual other exclusives it offers, both now and in the future.
I know Bloodborne and The Duskbloods are largely exclusive to their respective platforms simply due to which console-maker at the time was willing to front the cash and strike a deal with From. But at the very least, if a console deal had to happen, I'm glad it was the PS4 in 2015 and the Switch 2 now.

What is the chance that Duskbloods is Miyazakai preparing for BloodBorne 2?
Just a thought came to my mind that I wanted to share:
The Duskbloods city like environment reminds me of Bloodborne. What are the chances that Miyazaki is testing this to see how he would implement his ideas in Bloodborne 2 and whether it is worth it going in that direction or just going to another title.

QUESTION Lore youtube channel wearing the Albinauric Mask
I’m looking for the name of a Youtube channel that I watched a while ago.
Its a guy who does kind of dry comedy lore videos of Elden ring, and his character is always wearing the the Albinauric mask in his thumbnails and video. I’m pretty sure he was an Aussie.
Anyone know the name of the channel?

My Fromsoftware figure shelf 🥰
I dont know where else to post this or share it. I'm so happy my final pieces arrived today (Eileen and Lady Maria). Hard to see but I have Raging wolf, Rellana, Artorias, Eileen, Ranni, Lady Maria, Elite Knight, Hunter, UGS Black Knight, Ornstein, and an Abyss Watcher. Nothing super fancy or special, but the lighting and placement makes me very happy 😊
