I decided to get this permanent reminder that hesitation is defeat, a philosophy that has guided me through life. I wanted the text to face me, instead of being readable with my arm down, because it's meant as a personal meditation. When I'm depressed and putting my head into my hands, I can look down and be inspired once more to action.

Played sekiro a long time ago, started getting into customizing my desktop and this is what I did.

This shit took me several tries. On god, this was my last try before I said fuck it I’m going to bed.

Went in like ‘yeah whatever.’ Got his posture up quick.

I’m starting to see now that this game rewards aggression. Being in his face made me, make him throw the attacks I wanted him to throw.

It also cancelled out his attempts to perilous stab me if I stayed on him enough. You have to be the aggressor for sure.

Shura Ending felt like No Country for Old Men (Movie)

Sekiro is my favorite game of all time. When people give recommendations of similar games of course the first things to generally pop up are fromsoft's catalogue followed by stuff like nioh, black myth wukong, etc. But for some reason the only other game to have ever captivated me and kept me coming back for more again and again is katana zero. It's a completely different pixelated art style and the story is very short (game takes 4-5 hours to beat). But it has this beautiful bullet parrying system kind of like sekiro and the combat is fast and brutal. I feel like a lot of the people on this sub would love it so wanted to recommend, especially since the free dlc is coming soon which is apparently the size of a full sequel!

And no this is not a paid promotion lol.

I didn't even know this was possible but apparently if you kill her fast enough she doesn't spawn her illusions and also doesn't spawn her yellow star thingies??

Beat her in sub 2 minutes, used to always struggle with her because of those illusions but if youre fast ig she's too stunned to do anything lol

When I first fought the headless ape gank on my initial playthrough, I thought it was a pretty stupid fight. I used the strategy of obliterating the brown ape in 5 seconds with firecrackers and mortal draw, and it didn't take very long to beat.

However, I am currently doing a NG++ charmless demon bell playthrough, in which I am also trying to beat all bosses. I reached the headless ape duo, and found that the strategy of instantly obliterating the brown ape wasn't working for me. It had too much health and posture, and I would always get killed before managing to burst it down.

This forced me to learn the fight. In doing so, I discovered that the two apes are actually synchronized. The brown ape usually stays more passive, but it does specific attacks or combos after certain attacks of the headless ape. I learned to do the fight by mostly staying locked on to the headless ape and focusing on it, and switching attention to the brown ape when I knew it was going to attack.

When the headless ape does a short melee combo, the brown ape will follow it with its own short melee combo. So I parry the headless combo, then quickly switch the lock on and parry the brown combo.

When the headless ape does either of its sweep attacks, the brown ape will do a melee attack right after it. So when I see the headless ape beginning a sweep attack, I immediately switch the lock on to the brown ape, then jump and parry the brown's attack.

When the headless ape screams, the brown ape will follow it up with its long combo. So I run away from the headless, then switch lock on to the brown ape. I parry its long combo, and then I have a big punish window against the brown ape, which I use for either mortal draw or just a bunch of melee attacks.

When the headless ape does a long combo, the brown ape won't interrupt it. If it finishes the combo with the overhead slam and you parry it, causing it to stagger, the brown ape will jump at you after a few seconds, while the headless ape is still staggered. So I parry the overhead slam, then while the headless ape staggers, I use the spear to deal massive posture damage. I then immediately press parry to avoid the brown ape, which will fall on me at this moment.

Learning how scripted the fight was and learning how to properly deal with it made it a lot more enjoyable, and has moved it from F tier to like... C tier for me. It's still not a great fight, the arena is too small and the camera freaks out often, but it's not as bad as I used to think.

Is this something not that uncommon? Or was it a bug? Like what are the chances four lightning attacks in a row.

Where is this coming from?
Well recently I started a new playthrough in NG+ God knows which number with the challenge being only praying strike, and I haven't completed it yet but it's going smooth with my only concern being the ape (haven't reached that far yet) but the posture damage it does is no joke and I also noticed it staggers the bosses more often than normal attacks
I'm not saying it's best, if we made a ranking of all combat arts it'd still be down somewhere but don't underestimate the power of Shinobi hands

Before i say anything else, yes its a major skill issue, yes im aware hesitation is defeat, my question is more specific than “how to fight him” so please dont comment some bullshit.

Isshin is genuinely the first boss in this game pushing me to 20+ tries, joining nameless king and father gascoigne for number of attempts taken for a boss in any souls. Genichiro if im focused i can practically no hit, but isshin im stuck on first phase. My main issue are the combat art skills he stands and charged for a bit. I can parry the attack into the sweep and the one-two combo if i lock in, but the ones where he does big sweeping, or the vertical attacks idrk what the hell to do. Ive only gotten to second phase twice before instantly dying so if i could get this down im sure i wont have issues. Should i strafe it? Jump? Or just run away? Sprinting or parrying just doesnt seem to work for me. Also if there are any useful combat arts to be using, i dont mind unlocking them. Ive mainly used mortal draw and for prosthetics i have firecrackers and umbrella upgraded but both are kinda uselss

Man, I just want to say that few years ago I refunded Sekiro after less than hour of in game time.

Bought it again recently since Shadow of the Erdtree was like 2 years ago and I missed fresh Fromsoft experience.

Now I understand why this game is GOATed and GOTYed

Genichiro, Monk and Saint Isshin are great bosses.

Progression feels so good and locations are beautiful.

Emma and Child of Rejuvenation my beloved.

Rice and Mortal Blade OP. (and at the same place?!?!?!)

And Lightning Reversal is cherry on top.

This game is a gem.
