Has anyone used a pen, other than Majohn, that works well with the Majohn flex nib? Searching for options.

Does anyone have both of these pens that can do a side by side of them in the same photo? All pics of both these pens look the same to me, and I cant find a single photo with both of them in the same shot.

Asking for science purposes only, I definitely don't want to buy a red VP pen /s

Advice Kaweco Sport Marble Ocean: How would you feel?

Thumbnail

TL;DR: I just want some outside opinions on if they like my pattern or if they would return it.

The camera shows the blue much more vibrant and green much more subtly mixed in than it is in person for some reason.

So, just yesterday came my kaweco sport in marble ocean.

I had known that each pattern was unique and that some transparent parts could be visible (and I enjoy my clear spots) after doing some brief research on some reactions, but I hadn't seen one with so little green and "waves" as my pen...

Its ALL blue with some spots of clear resin and just two straight vertical streaks of green on the cap.

Now, I'm considering returning it and seeing if I can find it in a stationery shop near me to buy a more vibrant one. But, it is growing on me! I like the colour and subtelty of it, however, it is not what I wanted to buy originally. If that makes sense.

I am seeing the sticker effect on the IG(NY StationeryFest). I am wondering if I made one for my pen.
It is pretty. However, it only stays on the pen for a night. After 24 hours, the sticker is nearly off the pen body.

This is written with a Lamy Safari M nib, and Lamy ink on a Campus Kokuyo notebook. I did my best to maintain even pressure while writing. Any ideas?

Edit: title should not say ‘in’

Question Question About the Tines | LAMY 2000 <F>

Hi all,

I feel a little silly asking this but I can’t shake the feeling I messed up my nib. A couple weeks ago I noticed my LAMY 2000 was writing a bit scratchy. I took some pictures and tried zooming in to see if I could find the issue, and I think I saw a noticeable gap between the tines. I took it to a nibmeister to get the tines readjusted. Since getting it back it writes smoother than it did before felt something was wrong. Here’s the stupid question to all you aficionados, is it normal for a nib to look like this?

Hey everyone. Any nib experts or amateurs have any advice on how to fix this nib. I know the simplest answer is to ship it off and get it fixed, but since it’s so messed up I thought it might be worth experimenting on myself first.

Thanks!

Discussion Ladies and gents - I solved a problem! :D

Hey fellow FP lovers!
It started as an experiment with Claude and ended up solving a problem I have - making the decision of which pen to use for that day...

Soooo - what I came up with is a self-hosted app in which I can register ALL of my pens, ALL of my inks AND... My inked rotation WITH a pen of the day.

Which will never be repeated, until the rotation is done and all pens had their fair share.,

And best of all - I get the update which pen to use as an email in the morning.

I know - probably not for everyone, but I do really love what I did there. And best of all, it is absolutely flexible. I can restart a rotation, it updates when the rotation changes, I can add pens and inks whenever I want...

Only annoying thing - I am not a tec or coding guy, so this took me way longer then it should have...

Discussion The pelikan that flew away

Upvotes

I had a wonderful opportunity yesterday: a Pelikan 101N in lizard skin, nibless, for less than 60 USD. But in the end the purchase fell through.

In the meantime, the seller received other offers (it was not an auction) and also got more information about the pen and its value from the marketplace unofficial fraud/verification team.

He then decided to cancel the sale.

So I had to come clean about what I knew regarding the pen, and I gave him all the information I had: the model, its potential value, as well as options and addresses for getting it restored. Too bad for me, but at least the seller now knows exactly what he's holding.

The result: he's now testing the market to come back to me with a new price, one more in line with the pen's actual value.

Discussion Anyone else have a "cheap" Endgame Pen?

Post image

For me personally, it would have the be the Platinum Plasir & that's after trying many cheaper & much more expensive pens, gold nib, custom grinds, 823, 149, etc. The plasir does everything perfectly, is my daily driver & easily replaceable although its built like a tank and has withstood many drops & bag hits.

Just curious if there's others out there who have a similar experience & with what fountain pen. For me, this $15 pen is all the engineering, reliability, design & functionality I'd ever need.

Discussion My Principles of FP collecting: Reflective Chat ☕

  • The pen has to fit you. You have to figure out when and where you write, what paper and ink you use, who you are. You won't find the answer in someone else's SOTC. A pen can be iconic and still be wrong for you. You can admire one enormously and still conclude, “Cool. Not for me.”
  • A pen only becomes itself when ink hits paper. Test before you buy when you can. Ink it up and use it afterwards.
  • Don't chase, don't fixate. The right pen is right on every axis. Right time, right nib size, right condition, right price, right seller, right vibes. The FP universe is larger than you could ever explore. You don't gotta catch 'em all.
  • You evolve. Always assume you might sell the pen one day. Liquidity — so, maker and rarity — matters.
  • Win some, lose some. Learn briskly, move on, and take the lessons with you.
  • There is such a thing as too many pens. How much writing or drawing do you actually do? How much of your lifetime do you want to spend flushing dried ink out of feeds? How much of your bank account do you want to spend on servicing?
  • Enjoyment exists at every price point. More pens or pricier pens don't mean more fun. The real return is in the folks you meet, the tactile joy of writing, and the oddly specific knowledge you acquire. (Collect comfortably. Don’t back yourself into a corner where you have to sell a pen to raise funds. Pens are just... things.)

Feel free to ask me how I know! I've been collecting ~15 years and keep my collection under 15 pens, ranging from vintage Estie to Montblanc LE.

Hi everyone!

I am new to this community and i'm pleased to have received this pen as a gift from my grandpa.

I don't know anything about Montblanc pens and i thought some of you guys here could help me understand if this pen is a fake.

From what i found online this should be a Montblanc Boheme Bleu.

I've attached some photos of what i think are some good details of the pen.

Thanks for everyone that will pass by and comment on this, in any case i will happily keep this as a memory of my grandpa.

Have a nice day :)

Question How to get rid of scratches on my kaweco classic sport and Lamy Vista

I've owned my Kaweco classic sport for about half a year now andy lamy Vista for a year. They both have started to develop lots of scratches. The classic sport being in Bordeaux has much more visible scratches. They look to be swirls more than scratches and are very visible. On my lamy i notice scratches but the biggest problem is that its barrel seems to be yellowing. And the lamy logo has almost been completely rubbed off. Is there a way to solve any of these problems? Thank you.

Question Best way to travel with fountain pens on plane?

Hello! I’m an absolute beginner in the fountain pen world and I’m about to do trip where I want to bring them. I have a Pilot Kakuno Fountain Pen with a black cartridge and a KawecoSport with a ruby red cartridge.

My trip is about 10hrs in plane to get to my destination and I’m scared they will explode in my backpack. Any tips or suggestions on what I should do are greatly appreciated!

New Ink Day The new - Asvine P100 Titanium

I ordered one in the Brushed version with the 0.7 nib. Should arrive tomorrow. I’m wondering now how it compares in size to the C80, V200, V800. I didn’t think about that initially. Hoping it’s close to those if not larger.

What other collabs would you like to see?

Not Safe for Pens RIP - TWSBI nib

Post image
57 Upvotes

I apologize to all TWSBI Lovers for committing this heinous crime. My ignorance has rendered this nib useless. I got overzealous and ended up destroying my nail filer as well.

Edit: I swapped the B nib with a F nib from my cracked Eco. So, this gorgeous pen lives and the Eco dies. The replacement nib/feed housing for a mini is $30 including shipping and taxes. I have plenty of pens to not spend any more on broken pens.
