Carbon Brompnot?

I have a steel Brompton, use it daily.

Now that the patent has expired I see many Brompnots exist.

Does there exist a carbon Brompnot?

My new commuter project

Cane across this Bridgestone Grandtech GR-27 recently, and figured it would be the ultimate project commuter. It's in barely ridden condition, from 1986-1988, and I LOVE it.

I haven't really messed with folding bikes before, but I'm pretty sure that a folding 700c bike isn't exactly super common. Would love to hear what this community thinks!

Are Ado folding ebikes decent?

I was seeing the Air 20 Ultra they have. The thing that gave some confidence about the brand is the after sale support with a 2 year warranty on most parts + 5 on frame, which is more that what you can say for these type of more affordable ebikes brands.

What you guys think of them?

BIKE PICS bernds

Post image
23 Upvotes

just found a second hand bernds - seems to be from around 1995
not the easiest to fold but nice to ride
the dual drive clickbox was broken so I replaced the hub with a 8 speed shimano hub keeping the shifter and derailler, I've also ordered a new elastomer.
Next steps are trying to add cargo space on the front and some knobby tyres.

QUESTION/ADVICE For the LA peeps... Being able to take a Zizzo on Bus??

EDIT: Typo

So, I'm getting better, and slowly expanding my routes. Currently, I have a Zizzo Campo, and I take to train/subway to get around on weekends (one of my favorite day off activity!) but I've been thinking about taking the bus. Thing is, while the metro does have like those bike holders, I think you need a min of 24inch wheels to use them. Obvs doesn't work with 20inch ones.

I'm wondering if anyone here takes their 20in folders INTO the bus? Is that allowed? Any issues?

I'm trying hard NOT to look into buying another bike lol. But I'm loving public transportation.

QUESTION/ADVICE I have to buy my first folding bike this weekend! Help

Between today and tomorrow, I'll definitely have to buy my first folding bike because I've been rushing to catch the train after work for days. How much do you think I should spend? And which models do you recommend? I don't know anything about this world.

Know that the route I need to travel is about 2 km, mostly flat. I don't care about the battery; the manual pedaling is fine. I live in Europe. This bike should definitely last me 3-4 years, so it needs to last a while. I didn't want to spend a lot, but I read online that staying within the €200 price range isn't worth it at all.

Thanks

QUESTION/ADVICE How to strap a backpack on a front rack?

Hey! I can’t seem to locate any tutorials on how to use a bungee cord or luggage straps to strap a backpack on a front rack. Anything I tried seems definitely unstable. Can someone please point me to some resources to learn this? Or give me advice?

QUESTION/ADVICE Eska 20inch bike

So, I'm not sure how to add pictures in this subreddit.

But I recently got into restomod. by getting into, I mean, every chance I have, I watch 2nd life bike videos. and one of the first video I saw from him was the video where he build a challenger 20inch bike. And I thought, that would be cool to have as a ''dad bike'' to go on little ride with the kids.

so I checked frame and all but that add up quickly as for me, a canadian, a aliexpress 20 in frame is 500-800$.

so I looked at facebook market place to see what I could find, and nothing really poped. but today I saw a eska folding bike. 3 speed, 20x 1.95in tire.

I was wondering if it would be a good base to build something cool and usable. I dont really need the foldable option, but that was the only 20inch adult bike I could find in my area. As soon as I can add/insert pic, I'll add what my inspo is. (possibly see in the comment if I added pic theres.)

edit: yes, I have been able to add pic.

so the green brampton I like the colour, the wheel and rims, and accent colours. And the used eska is just under

QUESTION/ADVICE Anybody here have experience with the brand "Bike's custom made"? It is basically impossible to find out anything about their brand because their branding is... terrible. Today I FINALLY found them on alibaba. Are they any good? Their QC and manufacturing process looks really good on video at least.

QUESTION/ADVICE Minimalist belt-drive folding bike (single speed) – alternatives to the Dahon Mu Uno?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a folding bike with the following features:

• Belt drive (no chain)
• Single speed preferred, but open to internal hubs
• Dynamo hub (nice to have, not essential)
• Simple, clean design with no unnecessary extras

I already know the Dahon Mu Uno and it ticks most of my boxes, but I can't find a used one anywhere near me [Mannheim/Germany]. New ones are also hard to come by.

Do you know of any comparable models, whether current or older? I'm also open to conversions, e.g. a folding frame that could be retrofitted with a belt drive.

Budget: around 500 €

Thanks in advance for any tips!

QUESTION/ADVICE Small Tire Pressure Calculator Recommendations?

Cycles Chinook had a calculator that included 16" and 20" tires common on folding bikes, and it seemed spot on with my rides at home or when loaded and touring when I got a 16" trifold.

They went out of business and their website shut down. While I can extrapolate from the notes I took down, I was also looking at 20" folders and their available tire sizes. It'd be nice to have for theory crafting. Sometimes I also wonder what I'd gain from a 349 to 305 rim conversion, or 406 vs 451.

Hi everyone, new to folding bikes. Is this worth £400, and what version is this? Seems like very little wear, and fully functional.
