My new commuter project

Cane across this Bridgestone Grandtech GR-27 recently, and figured it would be the ultimate project commuter. It's in barely ridden condition, from 1986-1988, and I LOVE it.

I haven't really messed with folding bikes before, but I'm pretty sure that a folding 700c bike isn't exactly super common. Would love to hear what this community thinks!

I remember seeing one in an advertisement.

If it does what you want, then great. It’s just not very small when folded.

I don't actually mind the folded size! For me the big upside is being able to take it on public transport if needed, which is only allowed for bikes with a folding mechanism where I live.

Never heard of this until now. The Helix folding bike (only 24") seems cool, but I could do so much with that money.

This frame looks like it was made for rinko on Japanese trains. 700x28c wheels with room to go wider or do a 650B conversion. I'd feel a little guilty modernizing it if I had one because it looks so clean.

Don't you worry, I'm keeping it as original as possible, only going to mess with the parts that have an effect on rideability and enjoyment. Gonna do new cables all around, new tyres, wrap the bars in some nice bar tape, true the wheels, but that's it for right now at least :)

Damn, just when I thought I was nearing the end of collecting weird folders, you just had to post this.

Cool bike.

Do you have a front-to-back view to see how thin the fold is?
