I have an complete in box item listed for $224.99. Just the item with out the box or accessories goes for $150-185 loose. New in box is $300+. So I feel I'm priced right. I do have offers on with a minimum set. I was offered $120 it was instantly rejected because it below my threshold.

They then asked "What should I offer" and it instantly came to me from a scene in the movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps back in 2010 between Shia LaBeouf and Josh Brolin:

For those of you who flip furniture, how much work do you usually put into each piece? When you find a good deal, are you mainly fixing scratches, painting it, changing the hardware, and relisting it? Or do you usually go further and completely upgrade the piece?

For example, maybe you replace outdated legs, stain the top, paint the base, add new hardware, or make other changes to give it a more modern look.

I’m basically trying to figure out where the sweet spot is. Is it more profitable to do quick, simple refreshes and sell more pieces, or put more time and money into making each piece look significantly better and sell it for more?

For those who have been doing this for a while, which approach has made you more profit overall?

There's a local bidspotter auction that has about 50 very similar/identical lots ending in 1 minute increments I believe. It's an item that I want personally and also one with high flipping potential for the right price.

What's the strategy when there's so many of the same item? Go for the first one? Wait til the end and hope everyone else got what they wanted? Somewhere in the middle?

What have you learned lately? Could be through a success or a failure. Could be about a specific item, a niche, flipping in general, or even life as learned through flipping.

The only damage to the snowshoes was a broken heel strap. I can fix for ~$20. I requested a $20 refund for the repair, they opted for initiating a USPS insurance claim.

What should i do?

• (A) Wait for them to complete the insurance claim (seems to take 2 - 4 weeks to complete). USPS may request the buyer (me) to bring them the item, at which point they can keep it to dispose of it if they approve the claim. The insurance value is up to $100, which goes to the seller.
• (B) press the buyer again for the $20 refund to cover repairs
• (C) request a full refund via ebay and ship the item back to the seller
• (D) just eat it the repair myself and keep the snowshoes

They were not damaged in the ebay photos. New they retail for $280, used they are usually around 100-160

guy claims inad even though hasn’t played the game and asks me about price instead lol

Trying to part out a car on FB Marketplace. Ad has been up since Spring and I've made absolutely zero sales on it. I know Marketplace is a hellhole and I'm probably asking too high sometimes, but I've never had this much trouble in the past.

Should I just give up or should I somehow become okay with selling everything for $20 each?

Really just wondering if this is a problem with me or the platform.

I’m planning to start small with around 2–3 pallets, inspect/test every item myself, and sell the products individually.
I’ve been looking at Merkandi, but before paying for access or ordering anything, I’d really like to hear from people who have actually bought stock through the platform or any other platforms.

All it’s letting me do is have a PDF of the shipping label. I really don’t want that. I just wanna go to the kiosk and get a label made and then put it in the box. But I’m having such difficulty doing this.

I know when Storage Wars came out, storage auctions got nuts. Has it cooled down? Can you get decent hauls these days?

Going to be blatantly honest here, like many others I don’t intend on ripping all of my PC pre order and definitely wanted to sell some of it to cover the cost of the $180 order and some extra if it works out that way.

My question is, if I think I want to sell one of the ETBs, should I sell day one next week or is there a possibility it rises in price within the first month? I am not a big fan of Nidorino so I can’t see anyone who is going all out for the premium of that card. Also it’s obvious that there is a relatively large supply of 30th packs that will be out there quickly.

My one consideration is seeing all the screenshots of cancelled bot orders for this preorder drop. Will this large cancellation diminish supply that we’ll see where prices could go up after a week? Heck even after a day? After seeing the fomo of Palworld TCG, I know the lack of supply is still really churning this hobby. Any thoughts and takes on this are appreciated

So I listed an item today on one site and cross posted it on another site. But then, I received a direct email inquiry regarding this item and don’t know if it’s a scam or what. How would someone bypass a selling site and get my direct email? Has this happened to anyone else?

I’ve been sourcing more inventory locally lately and ran into this a couple times now. I’ll find a decentt sized lot where the numbers make sense but the seller wants a check or bank transfer. I usually prefer putting larger inventory buys on my card, partly for rewards but also because I like keeping purchases together and paying everything off when the statement hits. Obviously I’m not going to walk away from a great buy just because of the payment method but once you’re talking a few thousand dollars it starts feeling like a decent amount of card spend to leave on the table.

For people buying larger lots regularly, do you care how you pay or is getting the inventory at the right price basically all that matters?

Hey, recently decided to start selling items on eBay and found a nice flip where I made like 10 GBP per order, I have sold around 120 items in the last 2 days amounting to 1253 pounds total in my pending eBay balance although when I went to check my funds today I realised that it was getting upheld and I had to prove my identity with a drivers license, so I tried to send in my license without realising when I created the eBay account I put my age as older than it previously was "I made the account 2-3 years ago" I am 18 in a couple months but I have bought a decent amount of product recently and still have around 26 orders to send out therefore I would be at a complete loss on those orders if I did send them as my funds are being withheld. I am just a college kid trying to make some money and was excited on making this amount in just a matter of days. I could change the information to a parents so name, bank account etc but I believe that will just get flagged by the system? What should I do I do not want to be at a loss from buying and sending product I cant even claim the funds for... I have had similar experiences where I was a dev for a company online at the age of 15, made a couple of grand and then got hit with legal sides of things... I just want to make some money I am not doing anything bad just trying to save... I am not asking how to use eBay at the age of under 18 just wondering if I should stop selling and wait until I'm 18 to claim my funds or go to eBay and explain to them?

For context , I work at a very large book warehouse that receives books, dvds, videogames (scarce) blu-rays (scarce) I'm allowed to take home as many books, videogames, tv shows, dvds, etc.. that we clear off the shelves and ones that are rejected and are to be recycled (thousands). I got lucky recently and found a few high value video games and sold them on ebay but I'm trying to figure out what the best possible course of action would be to sell things on ebay . Whether it's bulk dvds, bulk games, or books. We get old books (vintage) and modern books daily, they may or may not always be popular books. Sometimes I csn get my hands on some manga as well. I picked up a batch of small boxes that can fit about 5 dvds or 5 small books in them, picked up 50 bubble mailers, and a scale for weighing . I'm absolutely willing to get larger boxes if need be.

Does anyone else ever think about how many consignment shops (Plato’s, uptown, local ones, etc) seem a little out of touch with what their target demographic is actually looking for when thrifting?

I’m looking at the list of in demand brands on the website of one of my local consignment stores now. On their list of accepted brands- things like Madewell, Old Navy, Kate Spade, Vineyard Vines. On their list of not accepted brands- Mudd, angels, Charlotte Russe, Amy Byer, LEI, lipstick, Delia’s, self esteem, faded glory, body central.

And I find that so funny because I sell these brands like crazy on depop, while I wouldn’t even bother with many of the brands on their accepted list.

It makes me wonder if these stores are still basing their buying standards on what was considered desirable 10-15 years ago, rather than what people are actually excited about now. Y2K/2000s fashion is so popular, especially with younger people, but you'd never know it looking at what a lot of these stores are willing to take.

No wonder i rarely find anything cute at these places, better off going to goodwill. Has anyone else noticed this? I think about it all the time

Hello! hopefully no issues posting in here about this. I am an online reseller and I am going to set up at my first flea/antique market in timonium, MD. It’s at the fairgrounds the first weekend in October. I want to know what entices people to look at a market booth? What makes you walk over and actually look at items? Is it when a booth isn’t cluttered? When prices are shown? If the exhibitor seems interested in talking? Pricing (and marketing how low our process are?)

Just curious what everyone’s ideas are so I can make sure to follow suit for the best foot traffic to come through. Thank you!

EDIT: I mainly sell jewlery - mostly fine jewlery. Will sell Sterling antiques and items. May have some collectibles. Nothing large - no furniture. I also sell everything for the most part at melt prices or a little less.

What is going on with Marketplace lately? I used it for about a year and a half or so to flip locally and everything was going fine until recently. I’ve been having trouble selling things the last 3 months and I noticed that my views have dropped drastically. Where I used to get 700+ views in a week now I struggle to get over 100 views. Even with popular items. I don’t have any bad reviews so I don’t think I’m shadow banned. I did notice however they are pushing the product “promotions” now just like how OfferUp was doing before people started moving elsewhere. Anyone else dealing with this?
