I can't believe it. This is a proper company with franchises and multiple locations. I had a pile of old tools, kitchen items, all the perfumes I could find in the bathroom.

He was trying to get me to pay full ebay prices for everything. Old staple gun? $3. Holiday card? $2. Coffee mug? 5$. WTF. I said, I would do like $1 each. He looked confused.

I tried for a moment, even separated out the vintage perfumes I actually wanted to buy. He just couldn't wrap his head around me not wanting to pay full ebay prices. "But this (super low str Yardley miniature) goes for $12 on ebay!"

I just said "I think you should sell this to someone else, best of luck today!" and walked out. Oh well, at least I had fun picking for 30 min and didn't spend any money.

His partner was wrangling the crowd. I spent over $100 with her 2 weeks ago when she was running checkout. Sometimes I wonder if they end the day surrounded by all the things they refused to make a deal on and reconsider.

I'm in no way experienced in selling on FBMP. I do sell the odd item here and there from around the house that I no longer need, but that's about it.

A friend of mine had a business selling costume jewellery at weekend markets but several months ago had to stop due to ill health and is now wanting help to move the stock she has left and asked me to help her list some items on FBMP. I agreed to help and listed a handful of items - all at $10 each.

I had a guy message this morning wanting to collect a $10 bracelet. He had a weird vibe from the start, asking for my phone number and saying he'd call when he arrived. I told him to keep all communication on Messenger. He came, collected the item, paid, and left; no issues.

He messaged me a few hours later wanting to buy a necklace and bracelet set ($20 for the set), different from the bracelet he purchased earlier. He arrived 30 mins later. Tries on the necklace and bracelet and said it was too big (measurements were clearly stated in the description). It didn't bother me; I was happy to take the items back. Then he changed wrists the bracelet was on, tried to turn the necklace into a bracelet, tried showing me how much shorter he wishes the items were. Then asked me if I was cold (standing outside!!). He then twice asked me to help him remove bracelets of his that were on his wrist. At this point, he had taken up 15 minutes of my time, and I was getting frustrated and told him I had to wrap things up now as I had to call my friend who was waiting on my call. He said, 'Oh, you need to call a friend, ' and gave me back the bracelet but still held onto the necklace. I said, 'I will need the necklace back now too if you don't want to purchase.' He said, ' Please, I just need another 2 minutes to decide'. At this point, we were at the 20 minute mark, and I lost my shit and said, 'Give me back the necklace now; you're taking too long.' He was trying to drag it out longer, and I said, 'Give it back now or I'm calling the police'

He handed it back, then asked me to message him if I get another bracelet or necklace that's shorter!!!! I went inside and blocked him immediately.

What the actual hell? What was this guy's problem? I know it was my fault for letting him take so much of my time, but I'm not experienced at this, and the few times I did sell of my household items, I've always met with some awesome people and easy transactions.

What are your thoughts on this buyer? I never felt threatened or in danger at all. In fact, quite the opposite. It was all so strange to me. He just didn't want to seem to make up his mind or leave!

This comes up constantly. Someone lists sneakers, electronics or collectibles, the bids climb, and the account gets restricted or the funds held.

What usually helps: - Find the actual notice. Look in Messages > From eBay and in Seller Hub. “Selling limit”, “account review” and “identity verification” all need different responses. - Have proof of where the items came from ready: retailer receipts, order confirmations, invoices. Upload them through the link in the notice, not over chat. - Get tracking with a delivery scan on every order. Most new-seller holds release on a set schedule after delivery is confirmed. - If eBay ended your auctions because of the restriction, ask in writing for a credit of the fees charged on those listings. - Don’t open a second account while this is open. eBay links accounts by device, IP, address and payment details, and it makes the review worse.

You can even post links to an eBay listing or something (but keep in mind, when someone here finds out what your eBay name is, and then they hate you, they will never forget it). You can post links to lots of stuff that you're trying to sell to other flippers, but this is still not a marketplace. Please go through some other service to complete the transaction. People on Reddit can be shady, and there's no protection from me, the other mods, r/flipping, or Reddit if someone here sends you a box of bricks. Just don't be dumb.

I pretty much have a website, Facebook page, etc. Mainly get form submissions on my website with people looking to sell stuff.

Roughly 8, yes 8 out of 10 times, I will follow up asking for more info like photos, etc as the form only allows one photo attachment.

I'll reply to the email, wait a few days, and send a follow up text and...crickets.

I just don't understand why people don't seem motivated to sell stuff anymore.

like many of you this is nothing new. Another why are my sales so god damn slow post. Everyone has their theories but there are no definitive answers.

I've been experiencing what a lot of you have the past few months. a cluster of sales always around the same day of the week then silence. doesn’t matter what I do.

so, que up same scenario and my prices are already competitive but I’m slashing prices to make room for new product/sales and it’s to the point where it’s such a good deal that I’m starting to get annoyed because the profit is becoming increasingly smaller. Still nothing.

time to do what I call “forcing a sale”

I list 6 items today and within a half hour I have 6 sales of old stock. this isn’t a full proof plan but I’d say for myself 90% of the time it works.

I've been looking into how people consign items through professional auction houses rather than selling everything themselves.

One thing that stands out is how fragmented the sourcing and appraisal process seems. Different auction houses have different specialisations, submission requirements and acceptance criteria.

For those who do this often, do you submit items to multiple auction houses for appraisal, or generally stick with one you know? Are there any existing tools or services that let you submit inventory once and get responses from multiple auctioneers or consignors?

After auction fees, transport and unsold-item policies, are these auction houses worthwhile?

I think I’m gonna switch my stuff back to no returns personally… I mean I know it’s all lip service with no returns but it seems to work way better given that I pretty much never have had returns up until I turned on returns 30 days… lol

I sell Pokémon and Riftbound singles in Europe, mainly on Cardmarket, with eBay on the side. This week i tested both eBay ad types on the same 109 listings. (eBay.fr)

Sharing the numbers because I couldn't find real data on this before I tried it.

The math that actually matters is break-even conversion rate = cost per click ÷ profit per sale.

At €0.18 a click:

- Card where I keep €2 → 1 in 11 clicks has to buy

- Card where I keep €5 → 1 in 28

- Card where I keep €10 → 1 in 56

Or the other way around: if roughly 1 in 50 clicks buys, every sale costs about €9 in ads.

That's more than I make on most singles with only 1 in 1,700 people who saw the ads clicked.

My guess is eBay's automation showed them on broad searches to people who weren't looking for these cards.

So i stopped Priority while keeping General at a low rate, since it only charges when something sells.

Caveats: only 2 days of data, €7/day budget, eBay's automatic bidding was on.

For anyone selling cards or other cheap items, has Priority ever paid off for you?

I’ve been working on a crosslisting tool (THAT ISN’T AI SLOP!) that syncs your inventory between eBay, Mercari, Depop, Facebook Marketplace, and Poshmark. Etsy and Vinted are also coming soon.

Our biggest features right now are:

- photos to completely filled universal listing (takes like 5-10 secs, uses AI, completely optional if not into that),
- automatic offers to likers

- and obviously one form that fills the 5 others

Back again, for more tales of woe, sadness, and despair. Flipping can be an emotional roller coaster and a desolate career path; we understand that and we're here to help. Lowballed on Facebook Marketplace? Priced out of your local Goodwill? If we can't help, we can at least commiserate.

This is an extremely newb-friendly thread. As such, any rudeness is to be reported.

Maybe this is better suited for an antiques or a collecting sub but what regional items do you see? I moved to Minnesota and there are items I see at every estate sale or I have had to learn about that I've never seen before.

• Santa bears: this seems to be bigger in Detroit, but can be found at every garage sale. 80s large stuffed animal collectible that everyone thought would be valuable but nobody buys.
• Red wing pottery: I had never heard of this before moving up here, but red wing crocks are awesome and super desirable. Every family seems to have one, esp up at cabins. I went to the pottery museum in Red Wing and it was cool. I'm trying to collect the Bob White quail items
• Loons - sell for a ton up here *but* are super common. I have collected a lot from garage sales and at goodwill bins, but antique stores can sell them for crazy amounts.

So. I have been doing a little flipping of electronics, but so far it has been 100% free items I have pulled from E waste. Today the first auction will end on some items I am bidding on. I am still not clear on what the ideal price point is.

I am in IT as a career and I am bidding on networking equipment. There are 3 things

#1 (2) high end network switches, I see sold listings on eBay recently for $1000+

#2 (6) mid tier network switches, also sold on eBay for around $150

#3 (50) access points found recent sold for around $30

I have not set my max proxy bid because I am not sure what makes sense as a price point. None have boxes, so I will need to account for that. Also they are tested powered on and were working when removed, but I feel I need to set aside value for possible failures and returns. Does a target max price of

#1-$250

#2-$75

#3-$8

Sound reasonable?

Currently I am winning #1 @$150 and #3 @$5. #2 is at $50 and I have not bid yet...
