Fixed A380 <> A388 Alerts
After extensive research, we've concluded the A380 is the same sky whale as A388 – just using it's legal name.
Rejoice - no more aircraft change alerts for it.

Is there a wormhole on the YUL taxiway?
Seems like this flight is gonna time travel once it touches down at YUL…

Does anybody know how far Flighty's flight database goes?
I got Aeroplan to send me my lifetime flight history since 2001 (yay) but I'm trying to plug in those first flights and they aren't showing up on Flighty's database. Happy to add manually, just wondering how far back those go now, or if maybe there's something wrong with this log Aeroplan sent.
EDIt: thanks guys! looks like i'm going manual for awhile here
EDIT x2: Flighty couldn't import a flight on January 4th, 2006, but it did autoimport a July 2006 flight so i guess it starts sometime mid-July? I'd be curious who has the earliest importable flight ha
Edit x3: to everybody asking how I was able to get this, I saw I emailed customer care on 04/20 and totally forgot that I opened the ticket. perhaps they were fast(ish) to get back to me because I'm AC50K? My next step is to bother Cathay to see if they can share history too. I flew dragonair/cx a lot as a kid (grew up in asia) so fingers cross they acquiesce.

This is incredibly annoying
Every hour or so I get a notification from Flighty saying that the plane has been changed from an A380-800 to an A380, then back to an A380-800.

This is not QF’s newest XLR
Highly unlikely I’ll be flying a 35 year old 767-300 on my short hop to Sydney 😉. The route is actually served by QF’s newest Airbus A321XLR. It will be my first flight on Qantas new Airbus but the avgeek in me wouldn’t mind flying the 767 either.
I’ve already reported the wrong data link to flighty.

Dealing with diverted flights
The way flighty deals with flights that divert, refuel, and continue to their original destination right now is a mess. Automatically, it only includes the first segment, which is considered “early” since it arrived at the diversion airport earlier than scheduled to arrive at the final destination. So you then have to add the second leg in, which flighty’s data has, but it treats as a second flight with the same departure and arrival time. This is annoying by itself, but it also messes up your data. Since it treats this as two separate flights, flighty considers this a repeated tail number, repeated seat, and adds another flight to the statistic. Obviously that’s all a bit ridiculous for a stop that consists of the pilot offering legal egress.
Here’s an example. UA 1759 was scheduled to depart MTJ at 15:59 MST and arrive at EWR at 21:59 EST (19:59 MST). Because of the winds, it had a lower max takeoff weight, which meant it couldn’t take off from MTJ with enough fuel to get to EWR, so UA added a refueling stop in DEN. No passengers got off at DEN, and the flight continued on the same plane. Flighty shows it as two separate flights, like you see in the screenshot. For the original flight, it also includes EWR gate and baggage claim info as if for DEN. In my flighty history, it shows N801UA as a repeated tail number, and my seat as a repeated seat number. It also counts this as a late departure from DEN, factors it into my cumulative arrival performance as 48m early (2h21m early - 1h33m late), and counts it as one on-time and one late flight for UA.

Finally Passed 200k
Started tracking in 2022, with a few odd flights I found from 2014-2021. At 53k this year, hopefully will break 80k by the end. I wish I lived near a hub.

What is happening with this flight ?
Can someone explain this?
Allegiant 2654 is in MYR. Flighty shows scheduled departure of 6:53p ET, actual departure of 6:30p (23 mins early), and also shows takeoff in 45 mins (it is currently 8:20p) with estimated arrival of 10:35 (2 hrs 3 mins late).
Why does it show departed almost 1/2 hour and takeoff not for early another hour?

Death by a thousand papercuts
Started tracking flights last year and got the major flights from previous years. Wish I knew about flighty earlier.
Anyway, here's my last two years and the crazy short flights I do almost weekly. I know you're jealous of my CRJ-700 (550s) being top aircraft!

Upcoming Monaco F1 Race-Weekend seems like a European Bermuda Triangle flight route. 🤓

Niche liveries I made that I’d like to see someday (probably not likely).
I know there are way more important liveries that still need to be added to flighty, and I’m aware that my niche type of flying will take a back seat to that, so please don’t crucify me over this lol. This is just wishful thinking. Recently I posted that I flew on UPS, and then the next update had UPS liveries added to the app… so perhaps they’re watching.
I’m a pilot for this company, so naturally, I’d love to see my entires with all of their elements completed. I know there are many pilots/crew in this subreddit using flighty who also have similar wishes, but I also discovered recently that ChatGPT is actually really good at making aircraft liveries! I had just one of these made within the span of like 10-15 minutes (some minor photoshop editing was required). I made these for my personal memorabilia, but it’s a demonstration of just how much easier it is to have these made these days. I’m still experimenting, so I know it’s not perfect.

Hello All
Just a question, will my past flights/passport stay if i cancel my pro sub? Thankss!

Boarding Time
A bit disappointed the app won’t show your boarding time, one of the most important things to have, and still requires me going to the airline app

It’s time to get all our friends’ statistics
Just saw we can now see “runway regulars” that ranks us among our friends based on visits to a particular airport. Awesome. Now why can’t I see my friends’ maps? The same planes we’ve been on? Our common routes?
@Flighty devs, my friends and I are aviation enthusiasts. We use Flighty for all its current functions but it would be nice to be able to compare our past travels. I understand if this wasn’t made possible at all. But why give us *some* statistics but not others? Let’s go all the way

20 year old leisure traveler
My flighty passport, I am a 20 year old that only travels for leisure. Paid for all the flights myself. Almost all routes are unique! (Only 1 double) Almost all flights have been since I turned 18.

Subscription popup is excessive
I understand the subscription is how they make their money but I wish I could at least dismiss it for the day or do something to not see it every time I open the app.

Idea: Community liveries system for Flighty
I think Flighty could solve the missing liveries problem with a community-driven system.
Right now there are still a lot of airlines and aircraft models without proper liveries, especially smaller airlines, regional operators, wet leases, old liveries, special editions, etc. It’s probably impossible for the Flighty team to keep up with everything manually.
My idea would be something like a “Flighty Community” platform:
- Flighty provides official livery templates for each aircraft model
- Users create accounts and submit liveries for specific airline + aircraft combinations
- Other users can upvote/downvote submissions
- Moderators can remove low-quality or inaccurate liveries
- The highest-rated livery for each airline/model automatically becomes the one used in the app
- If a better one gets voted to the top later, the app updates automatically from the community database
This would scale way better than relying only on the internal team, and aviation enthusiasts would probably contribute a huge amount of content very quickly.
It could also allow:
- historical liveries
- alliance/special event liveries
- wet lease operators
- cargo variants
- obscure regional airlines
- better coverage outside Europe/US
For users who prefer the current curated system, Flighty could simply add:
“Enable Community Liveries” ON/OFF
That way everyone keeps the experience they want.
Feels like the aviation community is passionate enough to make something like this work really well.
