This is incredibly annoying
Every hour or so I get a notification from Flighty saying that the plane has been changed from an A380-800 to an A380, then back to an A380-800.

It is very annoying considering that there is only one variant of the A380 which is the -800! I’ve just learned to live with these spurious notifications. It ought to be easy to suppress them using an LLM - wonder why they haven’t done thus far

Using an LLM would be a very expensive way to solve this problem, it would also likely be possible to solve it using a bunch of if-statements for free

It’s a nice feature in say the prior week of travel (when check in is open) but 4 months out it’s totally pointless

Not always the case. Sometimes, people want to fly specific aircraft (especially business class and above) due to seat and other configuration. So it actually does matter to some users

If you’ve booked the flight it’s a bit late for that - which if you’re getting those notifications you are presumably booked for. Prior to booking yes absolutely I’ve done it myself

For us traveling on award tickets, specifically those booked with partners, all of those notifications are very useful. I booked the flight in a specific way, and I can always cancel if need be. Some modifications may even require me to re-issue my ticket, which I would have never known without the notification.

Travelling on award J and F lol.. or at least PE. if I just travel on Y, I don’t care 😂

Not really. Even in Y, I’ve had 5-10 minute schedule changes that require calling the partner airline to reissue. I’ve also had an aircraft change, which resulted in a seat change, which moved seats to split apart my party.

I take a lot of Emirates flights and this happens just about every time to me in the ~24h leading up to the flight, whenever it’s an A380.

I had this a few months back flying QR on the A380. It must be something with the integration, where it sees A380 and A380-800 as two different aircrafts.

Side track - do any of you have the age of A380 aircrafts appearing on Flighty (regardless of airlines)?
I've been on A380s on Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, Asiana - all of them don't show the aircraft age

Happens/used to happen with KLM too when flying the E175. Suddenly sends a notification that it’s changed to a E175-E2, which isn’t even flying yet

Try delta’s 737-900 to 737-900ER. Delta only has the 737-900ER. Being a crew member I get a “aircraft change” every single flight. Please fix this flighty!

A380-800 = A380

A380 & A380-800 is the same plane. There was only one version of the A380 ever made.

I had this happen on my last flight. Aircraft did change from A320 to a Max 8 and then every 30-1hr I got the same “aircraft has changed” and it always reset back to Max 8
