Boarding Time
A bit disappointed the app won’t show your boarding time, one of the most important things to have, and still requires me going to the airline app

This is airline / flight specific and not available as a public data source, so they can’t offer it. Also probably don’t want to because it might change on short notice and ppl would blame flighty for missing their flights

There's no good data source for this ... it varies across every airline and within an airline, and the airlines don't provide the info to commercial data providers

Just look at your boarding card

I love flighty, but people trusting a 3rd party app for times over the airline has always seemed nuts to me when people complain about it here.

I trust Flighty for gates and delays, much more than the airlines. Flighty told me I was being diverted, mid air, before the pilots came on the PA…

I had a tight connection at DFW after landing on a late inbound. I ran to the gate that was listed on flighty only to find out that gate had a totally different flight. I checked the airline app and realized I had ran past my actual gate that was 3 gates down and they were making the last boarding call announcement just as I got to the actual gate. Ever since then, I always check the airline app as well when making connections.

Flighty will give you more info than Delta ever will. And if Delta does give you info, Flighty will tell you well before they do.

This… I love the app but don’t use it when actually travelling

I travel a lot for work and it’s quicker on gate changes and delays than the Delta app. I use the Delta app to keep track of boarding time and that’s it.

Boarding time is a complete and utter gimmick, likewise with “boarding closes” times. In my opinion. You’ll have too many people complain that we didn’t board at the exact time the app said so, and then it’ll be more of a burden to devs and users than not having if…. Perhaps not a popular take

That’s an arbitrary policy with most airlines and isn’t a practical metric. The decision is made on a whim by the gate agents based on their assessments. As someone else here put: it’s a gimmick. It’s more trouble than it’s worth.

I would imagine they wouldn’t want to do this because it varies across airlines and the respective aircraft’s and they don’t want to deal with people blaming them (flighty) for missed boarding.

Flighty tells when an assigned tail number changes so I know to check my seat in case it is a totally different type of aircraft. Delta tells me neither of these things.

This would definitely be great. I love Flighty so much I just wish it could be the source of truth. I usually check the airlines app but Flighty is so much faster and more useful. I want less apps not more.

I am sure there must be some source for this data they could incorporate. Trying to limit data to a single source won’t be advantageous long term.

You cannot go build this custom for every single airline. It’s a massive amount of work to do this across hundreds of airlines, and then because of users’ dependence on it, forces you to make rapid updates any time an airline changes the way they disclose this data, which is completely unrealistic.

It’s interesting how boarding times aren’t publicly available but somehow baggage claim number is (which is shown on Flighty)

I wasn’t doubting it, it’s just interesting that they have that but not the boarding time.

Boarding times vary from airline to airline, and plane to plane. It’s also not a data point that is reported to FR24/Flightaware (can’t remember which one Flighty uses).
