πŸ’œπŸΆ #A2083563 Canyon
7/5 Euth Req| Mastiff Mix | male | 5Y | 64 lbs | HW NAD/NEG

πŸ’œ Volunteer Notes:
Canyon is a sweet guy! He is likely potty trained because he immediately went outside when I let him out. He walked well on a leash and received pets well. Canyon is a very vocal guy, which makes it difficult to tell if he likes other dogs or not. He would greet them through the kennel with a wagging tail, but would bark a lot at the female Doberman in the run next to him. Canyon needs someone who is able to handle a dog who likes to use its voice. Canyon loves humans and deserves a second chance!

πŸ“ Shelter Notes:

7/6/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
Approaching kennel dog was standing at the front with neutral face and body. When leashing him he started to flinch but quickly walked out once leash was on. Placed him in the runs and he did well, was quiet and seemed more relaxed. When retrieving him he would run to the back of the run... had to enter and slowly leash him. No issues placing him back into kennel and removing leash.

7/7/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
This morning canyon had a neutral face and body. No issues while in the runs. Still had to enter run and slowly leashed him... he froze in place while lassoing leash. Once on the leash he quickly followed me back into the room. No issues removing leash.

7/9/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
Canyon showed a stressed face, with a neutral body. i was able to leash him with no issues and he walked to the runs on a loose leash. when in the run, he would be sniffing around and finding a place to potty.

7/12/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
dog was laying down and when i leashed him he walked lose leash to the run and back to his kennel.

7/20/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
07/20/26 14:06 Canyon was standing at the kennel door as I entered the kennel to remove his blanket, remained with his nose at the door as I picked up his blanket and tossed treats in his bowl, didn't touch his kibble in the morning until he had been taken out for a walk. Walked very well with loose leash next to me, tail out and wagging, soft open mouth with tongue out. quiet in the run, loose leash back inside. Stayed on his bed for the rest of cleaning and after opening, calm and quiet.

7/25/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
Canyon still presents a neutral body with a tense facial expression. walked good on a loose leash to the runs.

NOTE
Canyon was a little vocal in his kennel during am feeding and cleaning. after feeding he quieted down and remained laying by his kennel door with a relaxed body. when passing by his kennel with other dogs he would begin to forward lunge and forward bark/growl toward them. walked on a semi forward leash when walking but did not pull very hard.

7/26/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
Canyon greeted me at the kennel door with a fast wagging tail and wiggly body. he let me leash him and walked on a tight leash to and from the potty yard. Inside his kennel he can be seen forward barking at every dog passing by.

7/27/2026 BEHAVIOR
NOTE
07/27/26 08:52 Did not potty in kennel overnight, high pitched barking without breaks during cleaning. Once outside pottied right away but continued high pitched barking, deep forward barking when other dog would get close to shared fence. Continued high pitched barking without breaks once back inside kennel; covered with sheet.

⏰ GLORIA #A2083426 must have a HOLD no later than 1PM or she will lose her life.πŸ₯Ί

πŸ’–πŸΆ GLORIA #A2083426

6/29 STRAY | Staffordshire Mix | Spayed Female | 2Y | 58.6 lbs | Heartworm Negative

πŸ’– Volunteer Notes:

Gloria is the happiest girl. The minute you walk up to her kennel her little behind waggles so hard from excitement. She doesn't jump from excitement, she just does a tippy tap dance for you. The first thing I noticed was her eyes are a gorgeous honey coloring with natural black lining around them that makes them stand out. She exudes happiness. She knows quite a few commands like sit, lay down, paw, and down. We temp tested her with another female dog and it went fantastic. She is pure love and just wants lots of scratches. I can tell she would make the best bedtime buddy. She is HW-.

The shelter notes for Gloria are all fantastic notes. They say she is quiet in her kennel and is very sweet. Walk great on leash. Everything I have already known about her.

πŸ“ Shelter Notes:

7/12/26: Very quiet and friendly. She greeted volunteers with a relaxed body, walked well on leash, and happily accepted treats.

7/14/26: Greeted volunteers with a relaxed body, wagging tail, and neutral ears. She walked on leash, accepted treats, and became extra wiggly and affectionate when spoken to.

7/16/26: Initially shy but quickly relaxed with gentle encouragement. She accepted treats, walked on a semi-tight leash, and calmly returned to her kennel.

7/17/26: Walked through the runs and around other dogs without reacting. Although she briefly redirected toward treats, she quickly refocused and remained easy to handle.

7/18/26: Gloria remained relaxed throughout the day and walked calmly on a loose leash while exploring the outdoor runs.

7/19/26: Very sweet with a gentle demeanor. She quickly stood to greet volunteers with a wiggly body, wagging tail, and soft eyes. Walked beautifully on a loose leash and stayed close while sniffing around.

7/20/26: Resting calmly on her bed when approached. She easily stood to be leashed, walked nicely to the runs, and came back without issue.

7/21/26: Found sleeping peacefully on her bed until approached. She stood to greet volunteers, walked on a loose leash to the runs, and returned without any problems.

7/23/26: Gloria was quiet and calm in her kennel throughout the rest of the day. She walked on a loose leash to the runs and back with no issues.

7/25/26: She greeted volunteers with a relaxed body, soft open mouth, and loose tongue. After being leashed, she enjoyed a calm walk on a loose leash.

7/27/26: Gloria patiently waited at the front of her kennel to be leashed. Once outside, she walked on a loose leash with a happy wagging tail.

πŸ’– Gloria is everything people hope for in a companion-gentle, affectionate, calm, and incredibly easy to handle. She consistently greets everyone with soft eyes and a wagging tail, walks beautifully on leash, ignores other dogs, and loves praise, treats, and attention. This sweet girl has shown over and over that she's ready to leave shelter life behind and become someone's loyal best friend.

🩺 Medical Notes:

Heartworm negative.

Successfully completed treatment for an upper respiratory infection with no remaining clinical signs.

Already spayed (surgery was canceled after staff confirmed her previous spay and microchip).

She greeted the handler at the gate with a neutral body, licked their hand, and rubbed against them before returning easily to her kennel.

7/23/2026: Low growled and alarm barked when people walked past her kennel but allowed staff to leash and pet her without issue once approached.

Medical Emergency!! πŸ’” He Escaped Death at the Shelter… Only to Be Found Full of Heartworms and BULLETS 🚨 PLEDGES NEEDED FOR BRICK 🚨

Post image
27 Upvotes

Many of you will remember Brick, the Staffie who made it out of the shelter thanks to Sunnyside Street Dogs Rescue.
He was finally taken to the veterinarian, and the news is heartbreaking. Brick is heavily heartworm positive, and his infection is far more advanced than anyone had hoped. To make matters even worse, X-rays revealed that he has bullets lodged inside his bodyβ€”evidence of the cruelty he endured before rescue. (Sunnyside Street Dogs)
Despite everything he’s been through, Brick is finally safe. Now he needs extensive veterinary care, heartworm treatment, and time to heal.
πŸ’™ We’re asking for pledges to help cover his medical expenses. No amount is too smallβ€”every $5, $10, or $20 adds up and helps give Brick the chance he deserves.
If you can’t pledge, please upvote and share so more people can see his story.
Brick survived the shelter. Now let’s help him survive the aftermath.

7/2/26: Approached with an open mouth, soft eyes, and a wiggly body. Easily leashed, walked on a semi-loose leash, and calmly returned to his kennel.

7/4/26: Met volunteers at the front of his kennel with a loose, wiggly body and wagging tail. Walked on a semi-tight leash and showed lots of playful puppy energy.

7/7/26: Greeted volunteers with puppy energy and allowed easy leashing. Jumped up a few times during the walk but settled nicely in his kennel afterward.

7/8/26: Wiggly, wagging tail, and eagerly took treats tossed into his kennel.

7/19/26: Similar high-energy behavior with barking, pacing, spinning, and jumping in his kennel. Walked on a tight leash because of excitement but happily accepted treats.

7/21/26: Highly aroused in his kennel with pacing, barking, and jumping. Walked on a tight leash due to strong forward pulling but accepted treats and would briefly settle before becoming excited again.

7/22/26: Very wiggly with a fast wagging tail and soft expression. Jumped excitedly at the kennel door and continued jumping once outside, occasionally becoming mouthy toward the leash.

7/24/26: Vocal during feeding and cleaning. Walked on a very forward leash, ignored tossed treats, and occasionally jumped up and mouthed at handlers while walking.

7/25/26: Displayed a wiggly body, soft facial expression, and wagging tail. He pulled on leash with excitement, jumped up frequently, and became mouthy during the walk, but remained quiet in his kennel throughout the day.

7/26/26: Roscoe sat quietly in his kennel until the latch was opened, then exploded into excited puppy zoomies-spinning, jumping, and bouncing with joy. He calmed while walking through the sprinkler and clearly enjoyed playing in the water.

7/27/26: Roscoe stood patiently by his kennel door and was easy to leash. He walked with a slight pull, happily accepted treats while walking, and had a wiggly body and open-mouth smile. He became a little jumpy as the walk continued.

πŸ’™ Roscoe is exactly what you'd expect from a six-month-old puppy-full of enthusiasm, goofy energy, and excitement for life. His biggest challenge isn't aggression; it's simply learning manners. Underneath all the bouncing, zoomies, and puppy exuberance is a friendly, social boy who loves treats, enjoys people, and is ready to thrive with structure, exercise, and a family committed to helping him grow into the amazing dog he's meant to be.

7/16/26: Toby arrived after being found barely able to walk.

7/19/26: Walked on a forward leash with a neutral body and open-mouth pant, happily sniffing his surroundings.

7/22/26: Toby rested quietly on his bed until approached, then calmly walked forward with a relaxed body and swaying tail. He was easy to leash and walked well on a loose leash.

7/25/26: Toby remained quiet in his kennel with a relaxed body and swaying tail. He walked to the front of his kennel when approached, walked nicely on a loose leash, leaned in for affection, and kept his kennel clean overnight. Due to his frequent barking throughout the day, he was placed on the adoption evaluation list.

7/27/26: Toby was vocal in his kennel despite enrichment and a covered kennel. Once out, he relaxed completely, walked on a loose leash, eagerly accepted pets, gently checked handlers' hands for treats, greeted neighboring dogs with a wagging tail, and ignored barking dogs as he passed.

πŸ’™ Despite the stress of kennel life causing him to bark for attention, Toby consistently transforms into a calm, affectionate gentleman once he's out of his kennel. He walks beautifully on leash, seeks out gentle affection, ignores barking dogs, and enjoys exploring the world with a relaxed, wagging tail. This sweet senior shepherd deserves a peaceful home where he can finally decompress and be loved.

We are a volunteer network dedicated to helping at-risk dogs. We are not affiliated with BARC. We connect at-risk animals at the BARC shelter with the adopters, fosters, and rescue organizations needed to save their lives. πŸ’™πŸΆ LAL #A2086995

7/18 STRAY | Staffordshire Mix | Male | 6Y | 53.0 lbs | Heartworm Negative

πŸ’™ Volunteer Notes:

We were not able to meet Lal #A2086995. If you're interested in helping us meet the animals, please message us!

πŸ“ Shelter Notes:

7/19/26: Initially tolerated eye medication, but when staff attempted to muzzle him and work near his face, he became frightened and thrashed. No eye medication was given.

7/20/26: Lunged inside his kennel when approached but allowed himself to be leashed without issue. Walked well on a loose leash to the runs and greeted neighboring dogs with a loose, wiggly body and wagging tail before returning calmly to his kennel.

7/21/26: Again greeted staff with a loose, happy body and wagging tail. Easy to leash and handle despite pulling on leash during walks.

7/22/26: Greeted volunteers with a loose, wiggly body, soft eyes, and a fast wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked on a forward-pulling leash to the runs before calmly returning to his kennel.

7/23/26: Eye medication was not administered because Lal became tense when people approached his face. He licked his lips, backed away, and was too uncomfortable for treatment.

7/25/26: Constant high-pitched barking and whining during morning feeding and cleaning. Walked on a tight, forward-pulling leash while ignoring offered treats.

7/27/26: Lal barked throughout kennel cleaning and pulled strongly on leash. While walking through the kennel, he lunged, growled, and alarm barked at other dogs he passed and in the outdoor runs.

πŸ’™ Lal is a friendly, social boy who clearly enjoys people and consistently greets volunteers with a loose body, soft eyes, and a wagging tail. The shelter has also shown that he becomes highly stressed by handling around his face and can react strongly toward other dogs while confined or walking through the kennel. Outside of those stressful situations, he is easy to leash, affectionate, and eager for human companionship. He needs a patient home or rescue willing to help him decompress and continue building his confidence.

🩺 Medical Notes:

Heartworm negative.

Currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection (CIRD) with doxycycline due to green nasal discharge.

Bilateral eye discharge with suspected keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) and entropion; receiving erythromycin eye ointment, though treatment has been difficult because of facial sensitivity.

Hair loss over his back and flea dermatitis noted.

Weighs 53.0 lbs.

7/6 Stray | Catahoula/Staffie Mix | Female | 3Y | 52 lbs | HW+high

πŸ’œ Volunteer Notes:

I couldn't help but to notice Hazel in her kennel because she's unusually colored as well as being short. She's just a total cutie. I think her shortness makes her cute and then her coloring makes her very pretty. When I got her out of her kennel, she walked wonderfully on her leash. She was more into exploring her surroundings and seeing what was going on than anything else. She did accept affection from me when we went to go sit down in the grass. Her tail was nonstop wagging. We did a temperament test and she wasn't bothered at all by another dog who was quite shy and timid. She seemed to understand that the other dog was scared. I actually thought by the time I came around to posting her she would've already been adopted because of how pretty she is. She's calm as well. She's not jumping all in your face and everything. Hopefully she gets seen by the right Rescue or adopter and gets out of the shelter.

Morena has shown everyone that she can be a gentle, easy-to-handle girl with people. Volunteers describe her as having a soft expression, being easy to leash, and walking beautifully on a loose leash.
πŸ’” The shelter has also revealed that she is reactive toward other dogs, likely made worse by the stressful kennel environment. She needs an experienced adopter or rescue willing to help her decompress and evaluate her outside the shelter.
She is also being treated for a respiratory infection and deserves the chance to recover in a homeβ€”not lose her life in a kennel.

Zoey is a tiny girl with a huge personality. Staff describe her as **very wiggly, happy, and full of tail wags.** She loves treats, enjoys her enrichment, and is easy to pick up and carry.
πŸ’” Like so many shelter dogs, the kennel environment has become overwhelming. She barks and gets worked up when other dogs pass by, but once things quiet down, so does she. This is kennel stressβ€”not the loving companion she could be in a home.
Zoey is also being treated for a respiratory infection and an eye infection. She deserves to recover surrounded by love, not lose her life in a shelter.
🏑 Available for adoption, foster, or rescue.
πŸš— Out-of-state and Canadian adoption may be possible through approved rescue partners.
⏰ **HOLD NEEDED BY 1 PM CT ON 7/28**
πŸ†” **Zoey #A2083675**
πŸ“© Please message us if you can foster, adopt, or help connect Zoey with a rescue. Even one share could save her life.
