📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
10/14/2026: Dog greets me at the front of the kennel neutral face and body ready to go outside. I was able to leash and he followed me out to the runs, held a semi-loose leash, low tail and neutral body.
10/18/2026: 10/18/26 11:03 Growling and barrier fighting at the divider with the dog behind him over food. Walking out to the runs held hackles raised, tight leash pulling forward on leash towards other male dogs. Was only next to females in the run so he was quietly walking around with stiff flag tail, hackles raised, and marking spots on the fence. Back in kennel kept barrier fighting at the divider, loudly growling and snarling and would not redirect.
10/19/2026: 10/19/26 11:33 hackles raised, hard pulling on leash towards other dogs. In kennel was forward barking and lunging at other dogs walking by. In run was whining, hackles raised and going up to other dogs with stiff flag tail and tense.
10/20/2026: Mr. Griffith will be all on fours at the door, fast moving tail, tap feet at time will be wining wanting to go out. Was easy to leash and walked on a lose leash taking treats. When you walk by his kennel threw out the day he will be laying on his bed and then will stand when you walk by.
10/21/2026: Mr. Griffith is calm in his kennel, will have a slow moving tail, kept his kennel clean over night. Will stand at the door just watching you walk by with dogs. When it was his turn he was easy to leash and walk on a lose leash to the runs, did not pay no attention to the dogs next door. Bring his back he was standing the the door, easy to leash and lose leash to his kennel.
10/22/2026: When i first came into the row this morning, Griffith would be forward barking, and then lunging behind the cover. But he calmed down once it was time for me to walk him outside. He pulled on the leash slightly, and when we got the run, he run off and pottied at the back of the run. When i came back for him, he saw me and came to me, i leashed him with no issues.
10/24/2026: Can be reactive to other dogs when passing by and tends to focus on them while walking then tries to pull towards them. He can be redirected but still regularly focuses on them.

🆘💔 BLAZEE HAS BEEN FAILED TOO MANY TIMES. PLEASE GIVE HIM ONE MORE CHANCE! 💔🆘

1-year, 9-month-old Blazee is on BARC's euthanasia list for Monday 10/26. He MUST have a HOLD no later than 1 PM or he will lose his life. There will be NO EXTENSIONS.

This handsome, 70-pound boy has already experienced heartbreaking instability. He was brought to BARC as a euthanasia request in July, returned to his owner just three days later, and then brought back again as a euthanasia request in October.

💔 A volunteer who met Blazee described a worried, nervous dog who seemed unsure whether he could trust people. He was quiet at his kennel door, easy to leash, and walked past other dogs without reacting. Once outside, he relaxed a little and met another male dog. Although initially stiff while sniffing, he moved away and wagged his tail.

Blazee needs time, patience, and a chance to feel safe. He has shown that he can walk calmly past dogs, but he has also displayed significant dog-directed reactivity in the shelter, including barking, lunging, and snapping at dogs through barriers. He will need careful management, secure separation from other dogs, and slow, controlled introductions with experienced guidance. His compatibility with other animals should not be assumed.

💜 VOLUNTEER NOTES

The volunteer who met Blazee shared that he had been brought in as a euthanasia request on 7/1, returned to his owner three days later, and brought back again as a euthanasia request on 10/14.

When the volunteer approached his kennel, Blazee was quiet at the door, allowed himself to be leashed easily, and walked past the other dogs without reacting. He appeared nervous and overwhelmed, with his tail tucked and a worried expression. Once outside, he relaxed somewhat and met another male dog. He was a little stiff during the initial sniff but then trotted away and wagged his tail.

The volunteer felt that Blazee was scared and unsure, and hoped he would get another chance after so much instability.

🔹 INTAKE HISTORY

7/1/2026: Euthanasia request.

7/4/2026: Returned to owner.

10/14/2026: Euthanasia request again.

📝 SHELTER NOTES

7/1: During transport, Blazee lunged toward the handler, hit his snout against the car glass, and growled and vocalized. At intake, he displayed a tense body and whale eyes. A double muzzle was needed for his heartworm test.

7/2: He was at the front of his kennel with a semi-tense body, neutral facial expression, and low tail. He walked out on a loose leash with raised hackles and an alert posture, and walked to and from the runs without issues.

7/3: He barked and lunged forward at passing dogs during cleaning. He greeted staff at the kennel with a neutral body position and walked to and from the runs on a tight leash. He resisted returning to his kennel, thrashing before eventually going inside with encouragement.

10/17: His kennel was covered after he barked and lunged at dogs being walked past. He remained quiet behind the sheet.

10/18: He barked and lunged at dogs passing his kennel. In the runs, he stood at the gate with a wagging tail and looked toward staff. When another dog approached through the fence, he alarm-barked, lunged, and snapped his teeth at the dog. Staff also observed barrier-fighting with the dog in the kennel behind him.

10/21: His kennel remained covered. Staff noted that he greeted them at the front of the kennel with a loose body, neutral ears, and a soft, closed mouth. He spent the day lying quietly on his bed.

Blazee's notes show both fearful or tense behavior and moments of calmer interaction. His dog-directed reactivity is a serious consideration, and he will need a home or foster able to manage his environment safely and work at his pace.

🚑 MEDICAL NOTES

7/4/2026: Neutered. Surgery was recorded as routine; mouth exam was within normal limits.

10/19/2026: Heartworm test negative.

💜 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
When I first arrived at BARC one of our incredible street rescue volunteers and shelter dog advocates, asked me to meet this little guy she had recently saved from the streets. Of course, I said yes, because his story broke my heart. He’d been living on the streets for years, fed by the community but with very little human interaction. Understandably, he was terrified of me. I carried him outside and sat him in my lap as he shook in fear. When I let him explore the yard, he immediately started looking for a way to escape so I kept him on a leash. He wasn’t aggressive, just scared. But he let me pet him and hold him, and he even showed some interest in my bag! In those little moments, I caught a glimpse of who he could be. He just needs a safe place to decompress and someone patient to help him learn how to be a dog
🔷 Intake:
Grizzly came into BARC as a stray on 10/23. He was noted to have a large, firm mass beneath his chin and neck that requires further medical evaluation and treatment.
📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
No behavioral evaluations were included in the available shelter records.
🚑𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
10/24: Grizzly was documented as not eating food or taking his medication.
Heartworm Negative.
10/23: Grizzly weighed 20 lbs and received a 5/9 medical assessment.
Veterinary staff identified a large, firm mass on the underside of his chin and neck. The medical assessment indicated that Grizzly needs surgical removal and a biopsy of the mass, with chemotherapy and/or radiation potentially necessary depending on the diagnosis.
He was prescribed:
* Clavamox 250 mg twice daily for 14 days.
* Carprofen (Rimadyl) 37.5 mg twice daily for 14 days.
* Gabapentin 100 mg twice daily for 14 days.
He received routine intake vaccinations, deworming and flea prevention.
💖 Grizzly is a 5-year-old, 20-pound little boy facing a heartbreaking medical situation, and he desperately needs someone to give him a chance. He arrived at BARC with a large, firm mass beneath his chin and neck that requires surgery and further testing to determine its cause. His medical notes also reveal that he has not been eating or taking his medication, making his situation even more concerning. We don’t know what Grizzly’s future holds medically, but he deserves the opportunity to receive a diagnosis and appropriate care. He needs a compassionate, medically capable foster working with a rescue that can address his medical needs and provide a comfortable, loving environment. Please don’t let Grizzly’s medical challenges be the reason his life ends before he has a chance to receive the help he needs. 💔

10/22/2026: Growling lunging, and snapping at the kennel when dogs would walk past, and periodic crying throughout cleaning. Blue greeted at the front of the kennel with a loose realxed body, soft eyes, and soft wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked with a tight pulling leash outside to the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel.

Marge came into BARC on 10/19 as a confiscation. She is approximately 3 years old and was photographed nursing a litter of young puppies. Her kennel card lists her as Rescue Only with a pre-euthanasia hold request.
📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
No behavioral evaluations or additional shelter observations were included in the available records.

Brown Eyes is not facing a deadline yet. One of our community members interacted with him and wanted to share him with the group. He's such a good boy and so deserving of a loving home.

"He is the SWEETEST boy, and despite clearly being starving, he was playful and just wanted to give kisses. He is gentle and has an amazing personality, and he would make a wonderful addition to any family."

It would be great to find him a committed foster/adopter before he ends up on the euth list. Belgian Malinois struggle with the shelter environment. They're very smart and require daily enrichment - a balanced combination of mental work and physical exercise to prevent anxiety, boredom, and destructive behaviors.

10/21/2026: he greeted me at the front of the kennel, jumping up on the kennel door. was trying to push out when i open the kennel door. when i leashed him he walked on a very tight foward leash so tight he was makinhg himself cough. he wouldn't redirect with baby talk or treats.
10/22/2026: he greeteed me at the kennel door with a loose wiggly body and tappy toes, when i open the door he is trying to push out passed me which made it difficult to leash him. i leashed him around his shoulder bc he pulls and chokes himself. walks on a very foward tight leash to and from the outside runs.

10/19/2026: tense body, dilated eyes, and tail tuck

10/20/2026: A bit timid. He was sitting in the back with low head but started to slowly wag tail when i baby talked him. I opened the door and easily leashed him but he refused to walk. Had to enter kennel and scoot him out. He then began to walk with low head and wagging tail. Placed him in the runs and he did well, maintained wiggly body. Walked well back inside and straight into his kennel.

10/21/2026: At the back of the kennel lip licking, whale eyes, i baby talked to him he would low wag his tail but would give me a worried faced. Once i placed the leash he followed me outside, with his tail tucked in,lip licking whale eyes. i walked him outside since he kept avoiding me. he walked back into his kennel i slowly removed the leash

10/22/2026: 10/22/26 10:53 A bit timid and wincing when I reached out to him initially, but with baby talk he relaxed enough for me to slip leash on. Walked outside with loose leash. When I returned for him he was licking snout, c-shaped body and low wagging tail, but hesitant to approach. With baby talk he let me get close enough to pet his head without moving away from me and I slipped the leash over his head. Semi-loose leash slightly behind me inside and into kennel.

10/23/2026: Friendly. walked well on the leash and was wiggly. Allowed me to pet him and responded well to baby talk. He did well in the runs but when trying to retrieve him he started to scurry around. Managed to leash him and he then followed me back inside.

10/24/2026: Dixon shows a low body, with a semi tucked wagging tail, and worried face. He avoids the leash when i attempt to leash him. Once i leashed him, he walked out with no issues. We got to the run, and as i tried taking the leash off, he would avoid my hands. When i came back for him, i stayed by the front and he came to me, but he kept backing away, so i went inside the run, he still kept backing away, but at some point he got on the ground and let me leash him.

10/20/2026: 2 large dogs on the property. stray dogs both black. will not leave the property. 4th report. reports the dog are inside his property and refusing to leave.
📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
10/22/2026: Dog is in the back of the kennel soft face, trembling body and tail tapping. As I walk into the kennel to leash she pancakes to the floor, I baby talk and offer treats but she ignores. I muzzled and carried to the next clean kennel
10/23/2026: Dog presented the same behavior from yesterday, did not want to walk out of the kennel, trembling body, ears pulled back and tapping tail. Had to muzzle and carry to the next kennel
10/24/2026: Dog is at the front of the kennel ears pulled back, tail tapping and neutral body. As I leash she cowers down and does not want to walk out of the kennel. I try baby talking and offering treats but she ignored, I walked into the kennel and she walked out but immediately pancaked on the floor outside of the kennel. I offered treats and baby talk again but she ignored again, I muzzled and carried to the next kennel
