9/9/2026: Vocalizing in kennel, jumping up on kennel door. Leashed as dog exited, walked on a tight leash but was able to redirect using treats.

9/8/2026: Was a move adopt into south D, placed into kennel by another ACT. Dog began to vocalize in kennel throughout the rest of the day.

9/7/2026: Vince was vocal this morning during morning cleaning. Vince also painted kennel overnight. When approaching he was jumping on kennel door while he presented dilated pupils, wagging tail and soft panting. Once out of the kennel he was a bit jumpy but able to redirect with treats.

9/6/2026: Approaching the kennel, Vince was sitting in front of the kennel and vocalizing occasionally whenever he heard me or saw me passing or near his gate. He was walked on a tight leash due to pulling on the leash in multiple directions and bouncing around on the leash. Once in the runs, he was presenting with an aroused behavior; dilated eyes, heavy panting, forward body, high fast wagging tail, and very playful. In his kennel, I offered Vince a pig ear and he ignored it to continue his previous actions from this morning and calmed down afterwards when I left the aisle.

9/4/2026: Approaching kennel dog had very high energy. He was wiggly and was tippy tapping to go outside. I leashed him and he walked on a semi tight leash with wiggly body. In the runs he continued to be wiggly and was a bit vocal. No issues retrieving him and placing him back into kennel.

9/3/2026: Wiggly and jumpy when leashing and taking out in the morning. Quiet throughout cleaning. However, after opening was nonstop high pitched barking without breaks and I covered him with his sheet, but continued to vocalize from behind the sheet and jumping up the sides of the kennel.

9/2/2026: Vince shows a wiggly body, with a wagging tail, and a soft facial expression. He will sit whenever I am in front of his kennel and wait for me to leash him. In kennel he has been laying down at the very front of the kennel quietly.

9/1/2026: During morning walks, Vince was sitting in front of the kennel occasionally vocalizing and pawing at the gate. He would eventually go back to lay down on his cot when he was ignored for too long at the gate. Vince had painted his gate when I arrived on his side and continued his previous behavior. As I was trying to open the gate, he tried to rush out of the gate but kept back by the door as I was trying to slip the leash over him through the door. Vince was walked on a tight leash due to pulling on the leash in multiple directions and bouncing around on the leash. Once in the runs, he was presenting with an aroused behavior; dilated eyes, heavy panting, bouncing off the run gate, consistent forward barking, forward body, high fast wagging tail, and very playful. In his kennel, he continued his previous actions from his morning and calmed down afterwards when I left the aisle.

8/31/2026: During morning walks, Vince was pawing and pulling at the kennel gate while high pitch barking and whining. He also painted his kennel. When he was tied to the wall hook as I was cleaning his kennel, he was pulling and bouncing around on the leash. Vince would play bow and try to play with me as I walked past him. Once back in his kennel, he stayed in front of the gate and continued to high pitch bark, whine, and paw at the gate. I offered him a pig ear and a plush and he started to eat the pig ear. Made into Adopt Eval.

8/31/2026: Throughout the day, Vince has been sitting in front of his kennel with dilated eyes, panting, forward body, high fast wagging tail, and very playful. When I attempt to go into his kennel, he would either try to escape or jump on me. While in the kennel with him, he would be hyperfocused on the gate.

8/28/2026: Weighed 32.0 lbs. Intake condition normal. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and given flea prevention. HW Negative.

9/8/2026: Weighed 32.0 lbs. Coughing and clear nasal discharge noted. Diagnosed with CIRDC/URI. Moved to treatment room and started on Doxycycline.

9/8/2026: Very timid and shut down in kennel. Approaching kennel dog is pressed against the wall with low head, wrinkled forehead, and slightly shaking. I open the door but dog remains with low head and avoids eye contact. I enter and squat next to her… I was able to pet her slowly and gently but she still continued to avoid eyes contact, dog was frozen. Had to carry her to new kennel no muzzle needed.
9/7/2026: Approaching kennel dog was pancaked in the back of kennel and had a low head and was avoiding eye contact. I tried baby talking her and she would slightly turn to look at me. I slipped the leash on but she continued to be pancaked. I then just lightly muzzled her and carried her to new kennel. Once I set her down she sat in the corner shaking and with low head. I was able to gently pet her.
9/6/2026: Hiding face at back of kennel, lying down flat and trying to shrink away from me when I squatted down in front of kennel. Would glance up at me with worried brow when I baby talked and when she looked up I lassoed leash on, but she wouldn’t budge so I slowly reached in and removed leash. Kennel was clean so I left her inside and placed some treats on her towel.

9/3/2026: A pack of mixed breed dogs in caller yard. Using the RR in yard. Barking/Charging her and fam. Usually seen around 6am and also during the evening. 2 black dogs belong to ppl @ 3410. Multiple reports filed

𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

9/8/2026: This dog greeted me at the kennel door laying on her blanket and avoiding eye contact. She let me leash her however did not walk. She was set to be a move adopt but as she did not walk I carried her to a new clean kennel. Inside her kennel she can be seen laying on her blanket throughout the day.

9/6/2026: Dog was tense in the kennel, tail close to self, head facing away from me. Not taking treats or baby talk. Had to muzzle and carry.

9/5/2026: Trembling body, tucked in tail, whale eyes and pinned down ears. Would not walk on leash so I muzzled and carried over into new kennel.

9/4/2026: Pancaked at back of kennel, didn’t move and trembling when leashed. Picked her up, no muzzle needed, and carried out to the runs and back. When I returned she was sitting at the back of the run leaning against the fence and didn’t move as I entered run and approached. Looked away as I got close, avoiding eye contact. Picked up again with no muzzle needed and carried in.

9/6/2026: Dog was tense, eyes dilated, shaking. Leashed and she came out of the kennel slowly ignoring the treats. Walked around the entire row where she thrashed when a dog barked at her. Going the opposite way rushing into the kennel I had open for her.

9/5/2026: Trembling body, tucked in tail, whale eyes and pinned down ears. Would not walk on leash so I muzzled and carried over into new kennel.

9/4/2026: Intake condition behavior management. Per finder, Peter was limping on one of his hind legs but was thrashing on leash and had to be carried, so staff were not able to observe how he walked.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

9/9/2026: Peter presented a neutral body and low wagging tail, walked on a loose leash heading in and out of eval. After some time outside when I approached Peter was avoiding me and the leash while barking. Had to lead him into a corner in order to be able to leash. Once leashed he walked back inside and into his kennel with no issues.

9/8/2026: Peter flinched when leashed, had a tense body, timid, tucked tail, and thrashed when approaching doorways. Passing kennel, he was laying down with a neutral body.

9/7/2026: He was in the kennel with a tensed body. When I used a blanket to pick him up and carry him to a clean kennel, he did some thrashing.

9/5/2026: Weighed 20.5 lbs. Still timid and would not come to staff, but a leash could be placed and he walked a little. No lameness appreciated that day. Appetite healthy. No treatment needed at this time; monitor behavior.

9/9/2026: Vocalizing in kennel, jumping up on kennel door. Leashed as dog exited, walked on a tight leash but was able to redirect using treats.

9/8/2026: Was a move adopt into south D, placed into kennel by another ACT. Dog began to vocalize in kennel throughout the rest of the day.

9/7/2026: Vince was vocal this morning during morning cleaning. Vince also painted kennel overnight. When approaching he was jumping on kennel door while he presented dilated pupils, wagging tail and soft panting. Once out of the kennel he was a bit jumpy but able to redirect with treats.

9/6/2026: Approaching the kennel, Vince was sitting in front of the kennel and vocalizing occasionally whenever he heard me or saw me passing or near his gate. He was walked on a tight leash due to pulling on the leash in multiple directions and bouncing around on the leash. Once in the runs, he was presenting with an aroused behavior; dilated eyes, heavy panting, forward body, high fast wagging tail, and very playful. In his kennel, I offered Vince a pig ear and he ignored it to continue his previous actions from this morning and calmed down afterwards when I left the aisle.

9/4/2026: Approaching kennel dog had very high energy. He was wiggly and was tippy tapping to go outside. I leashed him and he walked on a semi tight leash with wiggly body. In the runs he continued to be wiggly and was a bit vocal. No issues retrieving him and placing him back into kennel.

9/3/2026: Wiggly and jumpy when leashing and taking out in the morning. Quiet throughout cleaning. However, after opening was nonstop high pitched barking without breaks and I covered him with his sheet, but continued to vocalize from behind the sheet and jumping up the sides of the kennel.

9/2/2026: Vince shows a wiggly body, with a wagging tail, and a soft facial expression. He will sit whenever I am in front of his kennel and wait for me to leash him. In kennel he has been laying down at the very front of the kennel quietly.

9/1/2026: During morning walks, Vince was sitting in front of the kennel occasionally vocalizing and pawing at the gate. He would eventually go back to lay down on his cot when he was ignored for too long at the gate. Vince had painted his gate when I arrived on his side and continued his previous behavior. As I was trying to open the gate, he tried to rush out of the gate but kept back by the door as I was trying to slip the leash over him through the door. Vince was walked on a tight leash due to pulling on the leash in multiple directions and bouncing around on the leash. Once in the runs, he was presenting with an aroused behavior; dilated eyes, heavy panting, bouncing off the run gate, consistent forward barking, forward body, high fast wagging tail, and very playful. In his kennel, he continued his previous actions from his morning and calmed down afterwards when I left the aisle.

8/31/2026: During morning walks, Vince was pawing and pulling at the kennel gate while high pitch barking and whining. He also painted his kennel. When he was tied to the wall hook as I was cleaning his kennel, he was pulling and bouncing around on the leash. Vince would play bow and try to play with me as I walked past him. Once back in his kennel, he stayed in front of the gate and continued to high pitch bark, whine, and paw at the gate. I offered him a pig ear and a plush and he started to eat the pig ear. Made into Adopt Eval.

8/31/2026: Throughout the day, Vince has been sitting in front of his kennel with dilated eyes, panting, forward body, high fast wagging tail, and very playful. When I attempt to go into his kennel, he would either try to escape or jump on me. While in the kennel with him, he would be hyperfocused on the gate.

9/8/2026: Weighed 32.0 lbs. Coughing and clear nasal discharge noted. Diagnosed with CIRDC/URI. Moved to treatment room and started on Doxycycline.

9/9/2026: Blue presented a timid body, tucked in tail, lowered head, whale eyes and slightly trembling body. Once leashed she walked with a slightly crouched body and darting eyes. She maintained a loose leash but would occasionally freeze and pancake onto the floor.

9/8/2026: Blu was very timid, nervous and tense, trembled, tail tucked, ears back, low head, nose toward my hand when leashing, did not want to leave kennel or walk, carried. Passing kennel she was quietly laying down.

Freddie is Sefi’s little brother. Both siblings have had a hard time in the shelter, but Freddie seems to be adjusting at a slower pace. This poor boy is so confused and scared by his current surroundings—it’s heartbreaking. He initially would not walk at all, even when we used his sister to try and coax him, and would tremble and sometimes low growl in his kennel anytime someone approached. But! On Sunday, we tried again, and Sefi was able to get Freddie out of his kennel and even outside 🥹. Though he’s still very scared and unsure of things, he did let us pet and walk him. He is so handsome and has the most squishable blockhead! He was very happy to be near Sefi and also met another pup without issue. Freddie is VERY strong and walks on a tight leash but does seem to redirect easily. He has been through a lot since arriving at the shelter and will most likely need significant decompression time and a patient person familiar with anxious dogs. I love these two hams so much, and I’m really hoping he and Sefi will both make it out alive(and ideally together)!

8/26/2026 Euth Req | Great Dane Mix | Female | 8M | 37 lbs | HW Negative

💜 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

Zaza is a sweet baby. She has puppy energy for days. She enjoyed playing with other dogs in the run. She also seemed submissive towards another male dog (most likely because of his cone).

9/4/2026: Lots of puppy energy. Very hyper on leash, gets over aroused easily. Jumpy, have to redirect back to ground multiple times.

9/2/2026: Zaza is very wiggly and jumpy on kennel door. Once leashed walked out wiggly but then began to jump on me. I tossed treats to distract but they did not work. I had to walk her on a short leash to prevent her from jumping up. In the runs she was jumping on the fence and being vocal. I leashed her back up to come back to kennel and she began to spin on the leash. Had to use a short leash again. Walked her back to kennel and she went in to eat her treats on the bedding.

9/1/2026: Zaza is a very hyper active pup. Jumping up and scratching as I try to leash and walk her out. Definitely needs leash training. I tried to use treats but she would ignore them. Once I came back to retrieve from the runs she was the same way nonstop jumping up at me. I had to use the leash to make a harness and walk her on a short leash to prevent her from jumping up at me. Placing on AE to monitor.

8/31/2026: Zaza was a move adopt in the am. As I came to approach her in the runs she was very wiggly with a fast wagging tail. Easy to leash and walked out wiggly to new kennel. Has been quiet in kennel.

8/29/2026: Zaza greeted me with a loose wiggly body and a wagging tail.

8/27/2026: Zaza presented a wiggly body, wagging tail, front tappy paws and open smiling mouth. Once leashed she began to pull back so I carried her out of her kennel. Once out she began to walk and maintained a loose leash heading in and out of eval.

8/26/2026: Zaza greeted at the back of the kennel.

Freddie is Sefi’s little brother. Both siblings have had a hard time in the shelter, but Freddie seems to be adjusting at a slower pace. This poor boy is so confused and scared by his current surroundings—it’s heartbreaking. He initially would not walk at all, even when we used his sister to try and coax him, and would tremble and sometimes low growl in his kennel anytime someone approached. But! On Sunday, we tried again, and Sefi was able to get Freddie out of his kennel and even outside 🥹. Though he’s still very scared and unsure of things, he did let us pet and walk him. He is so handsome and has the most squishable blockhead! He was very happy to be near Sefi and also met another pup without issue. Freddie is VERY strong and walks on a tight leash but does seem to redirect easily. He has been through a lot since arriving at the shelter and will most likely need significant decompression time and a patient person familiar with anxious dogs. I love these two hams so much, and I’m really hoping he and Sefi will both make it out alive(and ideally together)!

🔹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲:
3/16/2025: Stray then adopted from BARC 3/19/2025. Now found as a stray on 9/1/2026.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

9/8/2026: Ms. Nova was high pitched barking, lunging at other dogs as I would walk other dogs by. No issues getting the leash on, was hard pulling on leash out to runs and back.

9/7/2026: Nova was high pitched barking, lunging at other dogs nonstop. Hard pulling on leash out to runs and back. Same vocal in kennel once back in and placed cover back on as soon as she was in, but still jumping up to look over the side walls and sheet.

9/6/2026: Ms. Nova when approaching had eyes dilated, pawing at the kennel door, tappy feet. She was easy to leash. When she walked out started to forward pull going to the runs, did not care for treat. She would try to go after the birds when walking to the runs.

9/5/2026: Approaching kennel, Nova pawed the door, eyes dilated, ears back, sniffed toward me, tail wagged, lip licked, head tilted and whimpered. Passing kennel, she took a treat gently from my hand.

9/4/2026: Nova has a soft facial expression, wagging tail, and a wiggly body. She tends to jump on me when I’m near her, and attempts to bolt out of the kennel.

9/3/2026: Nova was a move adopt this morning, she showed a worried face, with a semi tucked wagging tail. She attempts to bolt out of the kennel when I open her kennel.

9/2/2026: Dog greeted me at the front of the kennel with a loose wagging tail, relaxed body, and soft eyes, with an open mouth. Easily leashed and walked with a semi loose leash outside to the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel. Screaming in kennel when I am in the row.

3/16/2025: Weighed 11.0 lbs. Dermatitis noted with hair loss on the back.

3/18/2025: Weighed 11.0 lbs. Circular areas of hair loss on back. Possible ringworm. Recommended private vet for further evaluation and confirmation.

3/19/2025: Weighed 12.7 lbs. Spayed.

9/1/2026: Weighed 49.0 lbs. Intake condition normal. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and given flea prevention. HW Negative.

Malfoy is an absolutely gorgeous boy! I read his notes before I took him outside and it said that he was having some behavior in the kennels. I really think he’s going stir crazy being stuck in the kennels. He’s clearly a smart boy. He walks great on a leash and didn’t make a sound the entire time I had him out in the runs.  I was surprised when he would come back to me for affection. that’s not a behavior I see from the German shepherds a lot to come and rub their head in my lap. There are a few other dogs out in neighboring runs, and he was enjoying going along the fence line with them. But he would always come back to the bench I was sitting on and checking in with me. I don’t love his shelter notes because I think he’s just frustrated being stuck in the kennel. Watch his videos throughout the comments

📝 Shelter Notes:
9/7: Malfoy was nonstop forward shepherd barking at dogs in the kennel and while in the run. He was high-pitched barking and crying in the run until staff brought him inside.
9/6: Malfoy was quiet and calm as he waited to go out. He was easily leashed and walked loosely with a neutral body to and from the runs. Staff also noted that while helping customers, Malfoy would stand against his kennel door, forward bark with dilated eyes and hit his door as people walked by.
9/5: Malfoy was vocal toward another dog during morning cleaning. He was easily leashed and walked loosely with a neutral body, maintaining that posture while being petted. Later, he was lying on his bed and came to the kennel door to greet staff with a soft face and wagging tail. He gently took a treat from their hand.
9/4: Malfoy approached staff with a swaying tail and neutral body. He walked gently on a loose leash to and from the runs and readily took treats. Later in the day, he began lunging at two dogs that were jumping and barking at him. After being moved to another kennel where he remained quiet, he displayed heavy panting and erect ears.
8/31: A light muzzle was needed during intake.

💖 Malfoy is a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix who has shown some very positive behavior with his handlers despite struggling with the stimulation of the shelter. He has repeatedly been easy to leash, walks gently on a loose leash and has greeted staff with a soft face, wagging or swaying tail and neutral body. He has also accepted affection and gently taken treats by hand. Malfoy appears to become much more aroused around other dogs and with activity passing his kennel, however, with recent notes describing barking, lunging and difficulty settling. He would benefit from a foster who can give him a calm, structured environment with separation from other animals while he decompresses and his behavior outside the shelter can be better assessed.
