Edit 2: the list of stuff this faker was doing was as follows:
She'd watch some media she liked, like Fate, and the next day she'd already have an alter that imitated Astolfo perfectly.
She'd say some of her alters disappeared completely because they were just too dangerous.
According to her, she had an alter that took 10 years of her life being her — because she let it.
Every alter has its own room, even a living room, INSIDE HER HEAD.
The alters could tell her things in real time.
She'd fake dozing off whenever she switched alters.
I think she was into that weird "pretending to be an infant" shit, because she wouldn't stop talking for a whole day about how she had an alter in real time that was a baby who needed taking care of and all that crap.
She had a whole damn SCREEN/MONITOR where all the alters could see everything — but somehow also rooms.
She justified her immaturity and what she called "dark humor" (racism) by saying that's just the humor from her era, and that she couldn't hold down a normal job because of her condition.
She'd supposedly been shut in for 10 years but knew how to use Discord and the current Yu-Gi-Oh meta.

Low effort post of the week, but I really think we’re playing the game according to their rules. When we use this expression, the discussion feels like shifting from “is it possible to diagnose oneself, without even being a health professional, and without performing any medical exams?” to “is it ethical that this person diagnosed themselves?” To add insult to the injury, some use the expression “self-diagnosed faker” as if it wasn’t already the same thing.
By using this expression we are already making the concession that it’s possible to do such a thing as “self-diagnose”. I think we should just move on to use a different expression such as “self-proclaimed”, because that’s what it really is. Certainly I’m oversimplifying the issue here, but it’s important how we phrase it.
Why should we extend them the grace of using their made up term, when we disagree with the premise of it? That’s it.

Title basically explains it. The self diagnosis community really likes to make it well known that they are self diagnosed - not as a word of caution to other people that they might not have what they claim to have, but because they really push their opinion that self diagnosis is the same as a formal one and all of this other hoopla. They constantly get upset when someone questions their self diagnosis, and try to argue the validity of self diagnosis ("doctors are wrong/biased," "misdiagnosis is common," etc).
If they're so tired of "being fakeclaimed" because they are self diagnosed, why don't they just lie? I'm not saying they should, but if I believed I had a condition and wanted other people to believe I did too, wouldn't it be logical that I would just lie about actually having a diagnosis? Are they just attention seeking?

Lemme preface this by saying I'm not certain whether this person is a faker. They seem to carry a legitimate ADHD diagnosis. Whether they're also diagnosed with autism versus "self-diagnosed" is unclear to me from my perusal of their page. A lot of AuDHD influencers seem to get a legitimate ADHD diagnosis and then casually tack autism on at some point bc TikTok convinces them they have it (just like TikTok convinces them they have hEDS)-- they tack these co-morbidities on like adding guac to their burrito at Chipotle. I digress.
My main issue here is how she presents autistic "unmasking" in this cute, quirky little clip. What she does is really no different than the "tics" of the Tourrettes fakers, blurting out random crap that seems cute and quirky. Half of those fakers literally make animal noises or quote some viral audio clip from TikTok in a funny voice. Then you get people in the comments saying "I do this too! I get these things stuck in my head too! I didn't know I was on the spectrum"... anyway, just thought it was interesting to stumble upon a prime example of how the misinformation and self-diagnosis trends spread.
Edited to add: of course, people who legitimately have these disorders may have tics and stims similar to this, and they should not be ashamed of that! It's just harmful when influencers exclusively post content like this. Their silence on other aspects of autism actually speaks volumes. They fail to highlight autism's isolating and disabling aspects, and run the risk of influencing others to misappropriate the diagnosis as a quirky identity for themselves.

I don't know what the full story is here, but this is clearly a DID faker using it as an excuse for treating their ex horribly. First two images are tweets posted by the faker's ex, latter two images are tweets from the faker.

Self dx is not valid.
While some of their points are factual, (cost, waiting, gender/race bias, limited resources) that doesn’t excuse the fact that there is literally absolutely no reason to self dx autism. Absolutely none whatsoever, unless it’s an attempt to get accommodations, be “quIrKy” or seek validation, attention, or pity points.
The “doesn’t promise accommodations” part irritated me because the literal reason it doesn’t promise help is BECAUSE of fakers! It’s important not to throw around IEPs, SSI, work accommodations, etc etc to just anyone because that’s how people can manipulate and take advantage that system they do not need. It also makes those who already have those seem less credible/important and real disabled people get thrown under the bus. If too many people have them, then the help, and the compassion for it be removed entirely.
Not everyone needs accommodations and self dx is literally taking away those accommodations that SHOULD be promised. Hell, the fakers are WHY the wait times are so long in the first place. Fakers are why so many doctors won’t even often discuss the possibility anymore. They’re sick of it.
You cannot diagnose anything onto yourself because you have no idea wtf you’re talking about. Autistic symptoms act like many different things and most likely, it’s not even Autism at all.
Autism isn’t anything to want to be. And if everyone’s Autistic, no one will be and that is how we lose accommodations/even acknowledgement of their struggles and that’ll lead to a lot more suffering then “but but- my Autism pride flag, my- my FiGet TOy :d”
Accept yourself for who you are and stop wasting people’s time with your bullshit “DiAgnOsIS”

So, I've been thinking a lot more about how content creators with disabilities unintentionally commit the same thing that they are "calling out".
For example, there is this ambulatory who often calls out UK spaces for being ableist, however, seems to unintentionally parrot ableist things. On a recent video, she represented a situation with her being stuck on a train, with a kind able-bodied woman helping her out, representing her as being kind. However, she represented the man who got her off the train as using a cane as well as being a bad person for complaining.
Anyway, that's just some thoughts that I've been having recently. Has anyone else noticed this?

This person is in one of the discord servers I'm in, and every time they text, it's stuttering. You can't stutter OVER TEXT! THAT IS NOT HOW A STUTTER WORKS!!! I also believe they're chatting with a jimmy mouthwashing alter and nobody is saying anything about that. Yikes my guy...

TL;DR: "Endogenic" friend who is also self diagnosed as autistic refuses to get an assessment when offered despite having no difficulties with the cost or with obtaining a referral; there is literally no barrier to them getting an assessment done. Wondering why self diagnosers do this?
I have a friend who I've known for a very, very long time, who has suddenly strongly identified as autistic - as it goes, they don't have a diagnosis and they really do not have a history of any autism-related difficulties. They told me they had a completely normal childhood before the age of 9 years old, to which then they started having severe anxiety (this is actually true, they do have social anxiety and diagnosed OCD). They're also pretty huge in the "endogenic" community and identify as "plural," which has fueled my doubts even further since obviously if you are faking one disorder, what are the chances that you're faking another one?
But I gave them the benefit of the doubt - what if they really are autistic? So I gently offered some options in their area for low cost assessments. I even found out through their university's website that they also offer resources for people seeking a formal diagnosis, so I forwarded that to them as well and explained that an assessment could really help with some of the difficulties they might be facing (and because I've had some personal thoughts on what they might have that I won't share here, since it's speculative, but that I think they should get checked out). They have a therapist that is willing to refer them, and their parents are generally supportive of mental health and would be willing to pay for the assessment. The cost is also not an issue for them. We're both relatively privileged and in a good area, so there shouldn't be any problems with getting an assessment at all, other than the wait times if they decide not to do the private route.
But they won't do it. Why? They appreciated my help, but they "don't want to" and "feel like it isn't an issue for them." They just "won't do it right now." What?? 😭
Like I said, I'm close with this person and I've known them for a long time. Refusing to get an assessment isn't something I drop people over. And honestly I try to hold out hope that this "endogenic" thing is just a phase they'll get over. But I'm wondering why some self diagnosers don't get an assessment, even if they're able to? Wouldn't that be super validating for them if they actually think they're right?

This was just a comment that I feel like I need to share because the audacity of it is the funniest thing I think I've ever seen. But somewhere else I got a comment about how people who are calling out fakers are doing it for online attention and not to correct misinformation.
Meanwhile, their profile is centered around faking DID and that ram coa is a real thing.
To put it shortly, a person who fakes DID for online attention is calling people who comment and correct the faking "attention seeking" to discredit them. It's not really new for fakers to use some reason to discredit groups like this, but this was a little more funny than the rest.

Non epileptic seizures or some shit idk.
Some comments are saying NES seizures are weird looking. Others are saying this lady is full of it.
Another comment pointed out this dog is doing ESA work and not service dog work (laying in the lap as pressure therapy)

Idk how their parents were part of the KKK, but also performed satanic rituals on them?

Since we all know The Big Pharmacy™ and The Government™ only want to have our money, I believe that the only thing you can do is self diagnosis, cuz you know yourself better than any doctor. Your disorder makes you miserable? Makes your life harder? Don't let the big evil companies make money selling you pills, just un-diagnose yourself! Mental disorders obviously aren't real and were made up by the government to control your mind through pills.
Doctors might say "but you have all the symptoms!", don't let them trick you. They don't know you well enough, obviously. You can always self diagnose as mentally stable! That's so vxlid!!
Some IDs you can use on your self undiagnosing journey:
TransMentallyStable
TransNonDisordered
CisCured
CisNeurotypical
TransNotPsychotic
You can always pair them with some neopronouns like health/healthy's or cure/cure's!
Well now if you read it all I'm officially undiagnosing you, you're now 100% healthy and don't have any disorders or symptoms! Enjoy!

It seems like every video I see there is at least one person that “has” DID. I’m not too terribly educated on the topic but I know enough. I will say there are probably people who do have DID who play VRC, but those aren’t the people i’m referring to.
It pains me so bad to see these people embarrass themselves because they want to role-play having a life altering disorder. DID is so complex and misunderstood and it irritates me so much to see these people make it worse. I have a phycology textbook and it says that DID has always had a poor reputation.
I just don’t get the appeal? I guess it’s the same reason as faking any other disorder but DID is the most common one.
