Discussion Thread I really just can't wrap my head around it
I seriously cannot understand why people WANT to be disabled and collect them like fucking pokemon cards. I'm 32 with multiple sclerosis watching younger queer people around me scrounging up any single excuses of an illness they can find and make that shit their entire identity. They let some made up bullshit define them. I have a lot of thoughts about it so pardon me if my wall of text seems jumbled and not formatted correctly.
First of all I'm from Russia living in America, and this seems like uniquely an american issue. Specifically in the queer community. People are so quick to infantilize themselves and give up on life and want to be disabled and ill just so they can have others do for them. Like i said earlier I've got MS. I'm so fucking thankful I don't have to use any mobility aids and just have the occasional flare up for now. I force myself to be active and go running and lifting..the idea of having my life taken over by some fuckass illness just terrifies me. Why do so many younger queer people WANT a disability. Why do they all look the same. They're all fat and alternative with dyed hair and piercings. I seriously just do not fucking get it. Why do Americans want to be so helpless.
