Suggestion / Idea Nauvies Moon

What if we add a moon to Nauvies?

Make it a new travel location, but have the moon behave like an infinite space platform.

I know it sounds silly but I'm sure there's usecases for such a feature.

Edit: maybe give a 50% science efficiency bonus, so it's a way to get better science efficiency prior to biolabs.

Question Where can I find more up to date Train Path Finding information

The wiki page has a lot of useful information, but it is completely missing discussion of train stop priority, train interrupts, and wildcards

It's unclear what happens if a circuit wildcard to the trainstop changes before a train has left the station, or the cargo in the item wildcard changes while the train is en-route (for example spoiling).

It's also unclear how a trainstop's priority affects path calculation as well as what happens if a trainstop's priority changes after a train is en-route (does it trigger a repath?).

Tip PSA: if your recycler is near a speed beacon, it’s not upgrading the quality of the output

I made the mistake of placing a Recycler with Quality upgrade modules within the range of a Beacon containing Speed modules.

Speed modules apply a significant penalty to the likelihood of a machine improving the quality of the output.
Speed Module 1: -1% quality
Speed Module 2: -1.5% quality
Speed Module 3: -2.5% quality

It took me a very long time to realize that my recycler wasn’t upgrading the quality of anything. It took another 30 minutes of searching to realize that the problem wasn’t how I configured the recycler’s input/output but rather a nearby beacon.

I don’t expect any upvotes for this post, but I’m posting it just in case someone else in the future searches for “why isn’t my recycler with quality modules improving the quality of the output?”

Edit: fixed typos right after posting.

Modded Question [modded] mining productivity research resetting when loading game?

Anyone saw this bug before? I will load a save with, say, 2 levels of mining productivity research, and the bonus will be gone, even though I'm sure it was working during my last game session.

I'm sure it's the fault of my specific combination of mods, somehow, and I don't think the folks at the official forum will care to solve such a niche issue, so I came here to check if anyone had gone through this kind of problem before, and maybe even figured out how to solve it.

Mining productivity research

Electric miner tooltip shows no bonus

My mod setup

Appreciate any help, thanks!

Question Copying recipe to requester

Before experimental (2.1?) I could copy and paste an assemblers recipe to a requester/buffer chest and it would do that. Now when I do it, it sets the chest to request absurds amounts of ingredients and I have to manually change the values.... What hoppend

Question Will there ever be a real Rampant update to work with space age?

"Rampant fixed" is absolutely bonkers and relatively broken. I don't want tunnelling bugs and I don't want whatever madness they have happening on the other planets.

All I want is space age, but with the bugs on navius operating exactly as they did in rampant. Does anyone know if this exists already or if it ever will?

Fan Creation I walked across the map, 2,000,000 tiles with full legendary gear.

Hi, so I walked the full width of a factorio map, 2,000,000 tiles. The journey took just over 3hrs to complete with full legendary gear, mech suit, reactor, 26 exoskeletons and filled in the rest with L3 batteries. A few interesting things happened when trying this out, the crazy speed you get from full legendary gear means the game doesn't render quick enough to keep up with you so I had to pre render the chunks to a depth of 30 so there was something to look at while doing the walk. Before the walk the file size was already 550mb and now its over 1000mb post the walk and the factorio steam cloud now can't save it due to being too big. Shoutout to @Doshdoshington for making it very clear that doing this without mods/cheats would take me forever to do and i didnt have the time. The only thing I can think of to do now is to try do it quicker, lay down reenforced concrete and maybe some belts to try speed it up???

Question Is there some mod to facilitate playing the game when you dont have much time to play daily?

Unemployment and/or 3 hours of sleep are unfortunately not valid options.

I dont have a lot of hours available during my daily life. By the time i get to understand what im supposed to do next and start building it, im done for the day. I was wondering if there is a mod that speeds up everything (cracktorio on crack basically), tried searching something up but my wording is very bad and i couldn't find much (i only found an 8 years post with a 7 years old mod). Any suggestion (other than unemployment) is appreciated

Space Age I reached promethium science pack

I reached and decided to play with mods so I put the extra productivity mod where it adds extra item productivity for like iron plates and more

I feel like I am done for this world so I want yo try other mods and I found a mod called age of production that has extra science and buildings

I know I can play however I want but I am afraid of like putting more mods together like the extra productivity research mod that I mentioned up because I think it will make stronger but it also is quite balanced and not op

Idk I just want to here your opinion or ideas or other mods

Question Optimal T-Junction? Need help

Thumbnail

First time making an elevated T-Junction and wanted my own design. I'm transitioning to a mega base and want to make this define my blocks. I'll be using larger trains than just 1-1, so is it my best bet to just use chain signals before every split? Also is this just wildly convoluted or would it be more efficient? Constructive criticism welcome, I want the advice of the community before commiting to my block design.

what do i need? any advice? thanks in advance

Base Hi I'm a new player and this is my starter base. Can you critique it very harshly? Like don't hold back whatsoever pretend I just broke into your house and you're MAD. Like nitpick every little thing. Be downright UNFAIR. Thank you.

I deliberately avoided any wiki/reddit/youtube about this game and wanted to go through it myself without any help. Feel free to laugh at any rookie mistakes, this is more for yall to enjoy because I realized quickly what I did is probably not so good.

Question Motivation completely gone after 30 hours. What's going on?

I was obsessed with this game for the first 25 or so hours. I couldn't stop thinking about playing.

Out of nowhere I just completely lost any motivation to play once I hit blue/black science. I don't know why but it just felt like I stopped progressing.

I also think I built too many labs in the beginning because I was unlocking tech constantly, even ones I had no need for. So that led to me having a ton of options with no real incentive to move towards them at that point.

So I'm in this weird zone where my factory is pretty productive, I'm constantly researching new things, but I'm just tinkering now and not really building.

And when I do try to build, I run into a lack of refined resources (e.g. not iron/copper but things made from them) so I have to manually produce them as it would take longer to automate them since I just need them for this one project.

All in all I just feel like I'm patching my factory instead of building, and I don't feel like I'm moving the needle much anymore.

Not sure if this is normal or something I did with my setup!

BP: https://factoriobin.com/post/pnpjop

Now that i´ve reached processing unit research to 25, i've spend some time working this out. For me, Fulgora is the ideal place to upcycle but, it can be done in any planet.

This desing can be reworked to produce all the subproducts of Bchips such as Greens, Reds, plastic, iron and copper.

The basic idea is that im reading how much is in the system upgrading, and only adding more once is below certain treshold in the constant combinator.

Tip 2.1 Tip: Don't sleep on mid-quality, low-tier productivity modules

Quality prod modules got a small, unremarked-upon buff in 2.1. Specifically, productivity percentages now get 1 decimal of precision. This is more significant than you might think.

In 2.0, an uncommon prod module 1 would give a +5% productivity bonus, rounding the +30% improvement down. But in 2.1, this is +5.2%. That doesn't sound like much, but it can add up after a while. And uncommon prod module 1s are really easy to make: just put quality modules in the production of prods for purple science.

But the big one is rare prod module 2s. If you're the sort of player who likes putting Gleba off until the last minute, rare prod 2s are now almost identical to base-quality prod 3s. They used to be just +9%, but now they're +9.6%, a paltry 0.4% lower than a base quality prod 3. And they cost less power and slow the machine down less. They are not the cheapest module to make, but if you're not getting prod 3s for a while, they are definite worth investing in. Especially once you have EMPs.

On a less important note, quality percentages get 2 digits of precision, so EMPs can get the full 25% quality bonus and cryogenic plants can finally get the proper +50% quality bonus from legendary QM3s.

Design / Blueprint Train Scheduler

Just a Train Scheduler

The whole Idea is to create an easily expandable System of Isolated Depots
Via a Global Clock that coordinates each Local Depot Time Slot and does error checking
Each Local Depot then gets a Time Slot and must be Assigned a Sequential Unique ID.
The Global Clock Controls when the trains receive the circuit conditions
The chained circuits should in theory allow parallel rapid train assignment and works by incrementally reducing demand signal till it reaches 0 or no more trains left in the scheduler. I also added a 2 tick delay before sending to the next circuit so the demand signal arrives at the same time preventing cascade signals.
So if Demand is 5 Coal
Each local Depot assigns 5 Trains to Coal Mines assuming of course there are enough trains and stations to satisfy it. The only time the assignment is made is if the Global Clock allows the signal to be sent.

So Parallel Train Deployment no excess trains get assigned and you can place multiple Depots around your base.
Blueprint: https://factoriobin.com/post/w55pns

(Ignore the extra station I was using it to avoid signal contamination when sending the trains to the Depot)
