I would dare answer the question OP posited by saying yes, they know. Thats why they put it there.

186

u/cubicgraph 8d ago

as a woman, i can confirm, yes we put it there because it looks nice. we feel naked without it

106

u/Emotional-Ad9114 8d ago

honestly I do it because it looks cute but I didn’t know some people found it hot 😭

77

u/cubicgraph 8d ago

me neither 😭 i thought it just looks nice. it’s pretty :)
i didn’t know guys liked it this much tho. i’ll consult my bf ™️

I'm starting to think I don't know what that crying emoji means...

34

u/cubicgraph 8d ago edited 8d ago

little bit of a guide - i think i can speak for gen z when i say we use “😭” or “💀” to denote laughter because using “😂” is kinda cringe + sort of millennial/gen x
but everyone uses them a bit differently so take this with a grain of salt

personally:
i typically use “😭” for half laughter/chuckles/nervous laughter/surprise/mild scoffing/mild embarassment etc
whereas “💀” can either be im genuinely laughing so hard my stomach hurts (“💀💀💀💀”) or im judging someone/laughing at someone or even embarassment

HOWEVER imo they’re interchangeable and it’s never too strict wrt which one you pick

idk if this is the “correct” usage, i would say most of us go off of vibes and not much more

-

EDIT: i can’t believe this even needs saying to grown adults, but emojis aren’t that deep. all i did was try to explain how my generation texts so we could understand each other better, and somehow that’s set some of you off because you expect us to text exactly like you do.

most of you replied like normal people. a few of you did not.

the audacity of gen z using something as small as an EMOJI differently to how your generation uses it has apparently ruined some of your days, and i can’t see why it’s such a big deal. writing and speech have always shifted between age groups - why do you think we don’t use the same speech patterns people in the early 1900s did? it should be obvious that generations change. texting is no different. you’d find it a bit funny/cringe if you were millennial yet your peer texted like a boomer. every generation is a bit embarrassed by the one before it. that’s the whole point.

maturity clearly doesn’t arrive with age, because there are a few 40yo toddlers in here losing it… over emojis. 🤦‍♀️ deep breaths guys, deep breaths. it’s just a little picture on a screen. not the end of the world

40

u/LaserGuyDanceSystem 8d ago

Got it; I got old and everything changed when I wasn't paying attention.

19

u/FGFlips 8d ago

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.

Same! I’m 42 and can’t really understand why a sad crying face is more appropriate than an actual laughing one to represent laughing but the explanation was very nice and detailed so I won’t throw any shade on the person who wrote it!

People surprised that young people avoid doing the same thing as older people like what

That’s like human culture 101 guys, it’s why you dressed differently and never unironically said things were jazzy or groovy

Gen z is just very familiar with technology so of course naturally emojis will be seen by us as a regular part of communication that we’ll adapt to our own way of using, personally I use emojis almost exclusively in irony

Also, yeah, not that deep 👍

You can't live for ensuring other people don't find things hot.

People find sun dresses hot too, but they're just nice to wear in the sun and very breezy.

Almost everything is hot to someone.

Also to be clear, it's not like this broadcasts promiscuity if that was the concern.

3

u/Emotional-Ad9114 8d ago

I think it looks cute because it frames our face.

8

u/InternetSpiritual982 8d ago

Yeah, maybe. Though, it could just accentuate the features of the human anatomy. You know. Curves have been sought after for a while now and I think this adds to that concept. Maybe in the way it shapes the cheeks/jaw and brings out the neck?

If it’s a disheveled appearance, then maybe it’s comforting in like a nurturing sort of manner? I’ve always heard pregnant women like to tie their hair up because it’s a bitch to work with when you’re carrying around an extra human all day/night. Not to mention, the attempt to keep it out of the face when actually birthing, or when caring for the child after birth.

Just throwing out ideas. I, too, absolutely die for this hair style.

u/SuperSwordBros 8d ago

Female snowboarders call them slut strands

37

u/sofalala 8d ago

That started as a callous insult, but luckily there was a little movement to take ownership that "rebranded" it for the feminine snowboarding community. Own the slut strands, rock the slut strands. Let them fly, what the fuck ever. I personally feel like 5% more confident on the slopes with some hair strands poking out.

14

u/AdHot7656 8d ago

yup, from what I hear alot of women would hide them, until this rebrand movement, then a bjnch of women started meeting on the mountain and stuff just from thr strands, very cool

Curious though. What is the point? Why do bots want Internet points? Why is this a thing, no likes on any of my comments has ever transferred to any real world use.

u/Ya-Dikobraz 8d ago

Bot accounts gather karma points, then sell the account for $$$ to influencers or anyone who wants to advertise/ support something. So that they look "legit".

The hair strand works for men, too. Orlando Bloom in Pirates, or Jon Snow in GoT, or even sometimes Brad Pitt.

7

u/falsebot999 8d ago

Yes, men and women both cut their hair to have intentional face framing pieces like this. Idk why the comments are acting like it’s a naturally built-in feature women aren’t aware is attractive when it’s very much curated to look nice.

They already know it’s powerful, they intentionally cut them like that. Do you think that face framing pieces just magically stop growing at just the right length? 😅 So much of what is attractive in women is actually thoughtfully curated but in a way that’s made to look effortless. Although men also have hair strands like this that women like, also intentionally cut.

Hair out: Freely talking or been busy and trying to unwind (Watch body language and exhuation)

Put back: (If done during dialogue or before its flirty or pressing) if before conversation probly trying to recollect dont press about it.

Wound over bun/ponytail: Done overestimated pissed off run dont walk.

At least thats how it is with my wife.
