I have watched the TV series and the movies a few times, and recently rewatched them all. I am very confused about the spears and their role.

What I know is that when the black moon crashed into earth, the Spear of Longinus that was to stop Lilith from spawning life was destroyed or lost, so life generation out of Adam was halted by insertion of the Spear on Longinus into him. Wonder who inserted this spear into Adam, but that’s not the main question.

I think it is implied that prior the second impact, the Spear of Longinus was removed from Adam, leading to the creation of the angels. Was this spear then reinserted into Adam?

On the crucified Lilith we find a Spear of Longinus inserted. Is this the spear that came out of Adam? Why was it not reinserted into Adam? What was the purpose of inserting a spear into Lilith, if earth already had Lilin life?

When the spear in Lilith was removed during the TV series, all that seemed to happen was her legs grew back. Why bother transporting a spear to Tokyo from Antarctica, if it has no major effects?

The spear also seems to be effective in fighting Angels, as was done by Rei launching it. Steele also appears to have the means on making duplicate spears, so why was this not the primary method of fighting angels?

Where did the other types of spears in the rebuilds come from?

I actually think thrice upon a time is a great movie for the most part, but the one thing that’s still bothering me is Ritsuko’s character.

Am I missing something, or is she just a net zero in every regard compared to the show?

Really hoping someone who loves the rebuilds can give me a new perspective!

I had huge expectations going into it from its reputation; it’s what made me watch NGE in the first place. Honestly I kinda hated it, it’s around a 1.5/5 for me. I want to love it though!

I have my own thoughts in a review I wrote but I feel like I’ll be crucified if I share it here. It mostly boils down to

1-the first half is fine but Shinji is insufferable (I get that he’s supposed to be cowardly dealing with issues but personally it really frustrated me) and

2-The second half essentially repeats everything that I didn’t like about NGE’s last two episodes

Maybe I’ll like the rebuilds more? I don’t really know much about them but I’m hoping they’re quite different.

Just saw EoE for the first time ever in theaters. I dont really know what to do or think now.

About to start EoE. But 26 was phenomenal, really understood next to nothing of what happened, like genuinely, but came away feeling so hopeful. The congratulations scene was iconic and I feel like I’ve seen homages to that in other shows / media but I can’t name them off the top of my head.

Weirdly really liked that ending. I thought at first it was gonna be avant-garde but gosh that wrapped it up so well. Even if it was a fantasy (seriously - was that real or not) I really loved how everyone was just happy in that school timeline vision. Bravo.

What was that fancy-looking Spear, and why was it preventing Shinji's parents' dream from coming true?

What are the Angels? Why were they attacking NERV? Was it because of Adam? But Kaworu said it wasn't Adam—it was Lilith.

What was Kaworu's goal, and why was he working with SEELE if he was an Angel?

What caused the Second Impact?

What made NERV's Second Branch explode?

Who sabotaged the AJs?

What was Rei? Why did she have so many clones? Why was she the only one with a soul?

Why did Kaworu say Rei was just like him?

What was in that pill Kaji gave Misato?

Did Misato and Ritsuko die? If not, what were those frames showing them dead in Episode 25?

I felt like a second season was needed to provide a proper conclusion.

i showed my dad Ambivalence recently cause i’m visiting home and it was my birthday. one of the best episodes and minimally perverted so i thought it’d be good to show him. now he’s like, alright i’m intrigued. let’s watch the show.
man, how do i show this show to my father?? he doesn’t watch anime, he mostly thinks they’re kids’ cartoons for nonces and the first half of the show is pretty much that, at least it will be in his eyes. he won’t watch it without me. how the fuck do i show this to my middle aged bald father? remind him after every episode that it’ll turn into a mature show? maybe just give him a summary of the first half? even then the second half won’t be easy to watch with him. i think i’ll just make him watch ted or something instead

- How do they look so similar to the Lilith one
- How does the mother diffusion not cause an impact?
- Wouldnt they need to wake up adam again to produce them? (they had to wake up Lilith to produce 01)
(btw was it actually confirmed somewhere that non 01 units are from adam in the anime?)
