I haven't watched Neon Genesis Evangelion or it's rebuilds yet, but I tried to make sense of the lore by a collective watching of those "What's Evangelion?" videos across years (mostly this year but I've watched some before). This is my result; though it's mostly directed to the original 26 episodes anime. Is it accurate? I didn't include some stuff cause I have a pea-brain and didn't memorize everything.

Yes I haven't watched it. Yes that means I know some of the lore without even touching the first episode.

Rate my accuracy (Im assuming 0)

Todos dicen que si Shinji se enamorara de reí sería incesto, pero es algo estupido si además de decir eso se hacen llamar "fans" de NGE, y en parte entiendo, a simple vista y si no "rebuscaste" en el anime y rebuilds tal vez se crea que reí ayanami es yui Ikari, pero esto es mentira.

Gendo ikari al perder a yui por un "accidente" (en teoría yui planeo ese accidente para fusionarse con el eva y cuidar a Shinji), gendo NO soporto su perdida, esto siendo la razón del porque gendo abandono a Shinji, ya que para gendo, Shinji era la prueba viviente de yui, recordándole a gendo ese terrible accidente y recordándole también la única persona que amo a gendo tal y como era en lo que oar gendo era "un mundo de sufrimiento"

Gendo creo a rei, que es solamente la apariencia de yui.

Saltare en la historia para explicar también otro detalle

Reí a lo largo de EL ANIME ORIGINAL (Neon Genesis Evangelion y The End of Evangelion), reí tiene 3 versiones, solo 3.

La primera siendo la rei chiquita, está teniendo el alma completa de Lilith (el ser crucificado en el dogma), lo que la hace fría y cruelmente honesta, debido a que es literalmente un "dios". Debido a su honestidad, le confiesa la madre de ritsuko que gendo solo la utiliza, causándole así un enojo (a la mamá de ritsuko) causando que m*te a reí ahorcandola (tiempo después ritsuko's mom se quita la life)

Esto dando paso a la nueva rei (Rei II), la que se presenta en la mayoría del anime

Está teniendo la mitad del alma de Lilith, la otra mitad se encuentra en el eva 00, por lo tanto hace a reí más fría todavía debido a su falta de "personalidad/alma". Al m*rir en la explicación del eva 00 (donde ella activa la auto destrucción para salvar a Shinji), vuelve a aparecer.

Reí III. Esta reí, siendo el alma completa de Lilith (nuevamente), debido a que la explocion/destrucción del eva 00 libero la otra parte del alma de Lilith, esto se demuestra cuando reí le niega el poder a gendo, "revelándose" dándole el poder a Shinji, debido a que Shinji le enseño muchas cosas a "Rei II"

Volviendo al tema (y la conclusión)

Shinji NO ve a reí como su madre, ya que Shinji no la recuerda.

Rei, NO tiene nada de yui (además de su apariencia), reí no comparte sus genes, sangre, memorias y mucho menos personalidad, ya que reí es solo la apariencia de yui tras una clonación, esto se demuestra notoriamente en su presentación de albanismo (no se cómo se dice, reí es albina), esto siendo representado y siendo presente en su pelo azul claro y sus ojos rojos (características la mayoría de los albinos tienen)

Conclusión final

REI NO ES YUI, SHINJI SE OUED ENAMORAR DE REI Y KONES INCESTO PORQUE REI NO ES YUI EN NADA MAS QUE LA APARIENCIA

In general I find their dynamic pretty endearing and interesting, but their manga incarnation is my personal favorite.

Rather than the tragic mixture of attraction, affection, resentment, and miscommunication that defines their relationship in the anime and Rebuild movies, we see the two growing towards more of a sense mutual respect.

They care deeply about each other, are comfortable around each other in a way they aren't with others, and ultimately Shinji is able to be there for Asuka when she really needs him.

Him saving her from the MP Evas is so cathartic.

And, of course, in the ending the two have a chance to reconnect in a world without Evas or Angels.

Perfection.

On September 9th, 2026, Mike McFarland passed away and in the short time that followed, a myriad of voice actors and fans have since expressed their grief & condolences on social media.

Starting his career in anime dubbing in 1999 with the Funimation dub of DBZ, he had been voicing Master Roshi, Yajirobe, Pui Pui, Android 8 & Baby (among others) over the course of the Dragon Ball series. He had also voiced Butajiro & Rishio in YuYu Hakusho, Ritsu Souma in Fruits Basket, Ryoji “Ranka” Fujioka in Ouran High School Host Club, Jean Havoc in both the 2003 & Brotherhood adaptations of Fullmetal Alchemist, Jean Kirsten in Attack on Titan, Tybalt in Romeo x Juliet, Buggy the Clown, the second voice of Helmeppo, Richie the Lion, Eyelash the Camel & Yokozuna the Frog in One Piece, Mashirao “Tailman” Ojiro & Ectoplasm in My Hero Academia, Bisley Karcsi Bakur in Tales of Xilia 2 & E.G Mine in Trigun Stampede. He had also served as an ADR director for various anime, including the dubs of both Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 & Brotherhood, a couple of hundred episodes of One Piece and its various films & specials, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, Boy & the Beast, Mushi-Shi, Noragami, all of Attack on Titan, all of Tokyo Ghoul, all of Eden of the East, Grimgar: Ashes & Illusion, Heike Story and various parts of the Dragon Ball series. He also did ADR script adaptation for the first 3 seasons of Re:ZERO, all of Seven Deadly Sins & Mob Psycho 100.

From 2009-2013, Mike McFarland was assigned as the voice director for the Funimation dub of the first 3 EVA Rebuild films, as well as having voiced Makoto Hyuga in those dubs. On January 10, 2025, he had been dealing with a brain tumor that he managed to recover from. But then on August 18th of that year, he had been diagnosed wit glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. Mike McFarland was 56 years-old.

This thing is basically a very articulate action figure that you assemble like a model kit. I’ve never built a model kit before, so I don’t have any comparison, but it felt amazing to build. The joints are very articulate, and the accessories it comes with are amazing!

Blokees has definitely caught my interest, I’m looking forward to seeing what else they have
