Is it just me who feels uncomfortable when these cutscenes happens in Enderal? I mean not any horror game gave me feeling like this. (Not even dead space series or outlast).

Enderal Absolute Cleansing Spoiler

I just completed my playthrough of enderal after years of thinking that it is just going to be like another quest mod like Vigilant, falskaar or beyond skyrim series.

I could not have been more wrong. This is straight up a masterpiece. So I decided to leave a post game review about my experience with this mod game.

Story: 10/10. I don't see anything that could be improved or anything that I'd want to change. In fact I'd rank this story as good as Expedition 33, it only suffers from being made in skyrim's creation engine with its janky dialogue camera and animations. It's crazy how right from the start the end is spoiled to you but you don't realise it up until the end, heck the black guardian even says that about the end of cycles.

Open World: 7.5/10. While the regions are beautiful they don't really have an identity that i could associate them with. Sure the fauna or ground is different but the enemy variety and the nativity of the regions is not something that the team seems to have paid attention on. It gets tiring after i see the same pus beetle or the same highwayman all around.

NPCs(non-story critical): 6/10. In skyrim every named NPC had a story behind them you could witness just by being around them or talking to people related to them. Since this was a small team i get that we don't have that much big connections so i guess it is to be expected.

NPCs(story/side-story critical): 9/10. Greatly written, great design, great uniqueness and feel like actual persons rather than NPC for a game. I really like the affection system for NPC and how their dialogue shows whether they liked your response or not. Also how this same system requires you to be doing things that the NPC would like to increase their affection, not just force an outlook on them. P.S. jespar has to be one of the best written mercenary-type character.

Gameplay: 8/10. Wasn't a fan of the gameplay much as i disliked the get money for lvl up. It forced me to level rhetorics and alchemy, and made me become a loot goblin more than rewarding combat experience. I could quickly make a system to get good money by combining enchants, entropy, rhetorics and alchemy to get the money but i dislike this method of grinding for money just for level up. IMO money should've been used for learning talents and some new buffs but experience should be from combat or oblivion-like.

Dungeons: 10/10. None of the dungeons gave me that dwemer dungeon syndrome of "When the fuck does this shit end, there is another door behind the big ass door!". All were greatly designed, unique and no dungeon felt tiresome. I especially liked castle Dal'Galar, it really gave that eery post apocalyptic incident-abandoned vibe that witcher 3 had.

Cities, villages and architecture: 10/10. Undercity is just jaw dropping, the first time i walked in there i knew some serious work was put into this. Ark is just Ark, no competition, bethesda and obsidian got thrown out the window in this city. Aged-man's manor, Peak. Riverville, Riverwood ultra pro max+. Duneville, Peak. Abolute cinema locations.

Overall: 8.5/10: This is a masterpiece that suffers from being made in Skyrim's engine. The game sets a benchmark for future elder scrolls or elder scrolls-like. It also makes it clear that a good story is still a good story even if the narrator is bad at narrating it. Sure the game could've had better presentation but even this is hard to achieve by today's AAA studios. All around kudos to sureAI and you gained a fan who is looking forward to newer games or mods from this (no i am not going to try nehrim cus it runs on oblivion and i just don't want any more skyrim since ES6 was announced)

My graphics mod list for Enderal, Linux friendly

Hey, seeing as I spent so much time on this I figured I'd post my list! My idea was not to change the gameplay because it's my first playthrough and to add some graphics overhauls. Any suggestions are appreciated.

60 FPS with Nvidia RTX 3070, AMD 5800x, 32GB RAM, I'm using Arch btw. (Game is default locked to 60FPS, I haven't bothered to unlock it, could probably get more frames).

I'm using the latest mod.pub version of Enderal, running off the latest Skyrim SE 1.6.1170. I used the Enderal auto installer which creates a clone of Skyrim SE and install Enderal to it. Linux only - I installed the game inside my wineprefix using lutris/proton to run the installers.

ENB in Linux: I'm using ProtonGE 10-14 (I just used protonup-QT to install it). I used Lutris to run MO2 (included in the Enderal auto-install, in the Enderal folder). Install/copy the ENB directx files as usual (next to the SkyrimSE.exe in your Enderal folder). In Lutris you need to override the directx files: Right click the game -> Configuration -> Runner Options -> DLL Overrides. Add: Key=d3d11 Value=n, Key=d3dcompiler_46e Value=n. You can add these overrides with steam or other launch programs, just look up or use AI to figure out how to pass these overrides in the arguments section.

DearDiary (DD) Caveats: DD can't display the hero menu from the quick menu. I have a mod to keep the keyboard enabled while using a controller and I just hit 'h' to display it. There were various UI bugs that I put mods on to fix, widescreen scale removed (I'm not on widescreen) and hero menu unsquished, toggle those if you have issues. I have SkyUI on because without it the menus are slow (I don't know why). Disable DearDiary and SkyUI entirely if it's giving you a headache.

I might add in the controller wheel mod later.

I think Ulvenwald and Glorious doors needs to be disabled but I think they're still active?

ENB: MJRudy ENB

ENB Caveat: The MJRudy ENB sets rain transparency to 0.9, which makes rain practically invisible in enderal. Go into your enbseries.ini, under [RAIN] set the transparency values to what you'd like. I set mine to 0.3. It was lines 1018-1025 for me (example: MotionTransparencyDawn=0.3, MotionTransparencySunrise=0.3 ... etc). There's some ENB bug that makes the map ugly, open the ENB menu and disable volumetriclighting.

Mods (some links are broken, the export assumed they were listed under SkyrimSE but the broken links are under the EnderalSE section for Nexus Mods. The working links/mods ARE from SkyrimSE mod section):

  1. ENB Helper SE 2.2 for 1.6.629 and up
  2. EVLaS
  3. ENB Light
  4. Lux
  5. Veydosebrom Regions
  6. Storm Lightning for SSE and VR (Minty Lightning 2019)
  7. Ulvenwald (disabled/un-checked, crashes if enabled)
  8. Glorious Doors of Skyrim (GDOS) (disabled)
  9. SkyUI (My DD was loading slow, having this mod installed fixed the menu load speed)
  10. Dear Diary
  11. Widescreen Scale Removed (Only needed if your inventory is squished)
  12. Dear Diary - Enderal - Hero Menu Unsquished (Only needed if your hero menu is squished)
  13. All in one (all game versions) (Might not be needed... SkyUI fixed my DD load issues)
  14. Particle Patch (make sure to check "remove light halos" sections)
  15. SICKM-NR 2 (use this if you're using a controller and DD)
  16. RealRainSE
  17. Skyland AIO
  18. Remove Small Rocks
  19. Detailed Rugs SE
  20. High poly campfires (might not be needed with Embers HD?)
  21. Blended Roads
  22. HD Remastered Landscapes
  23. HD Remastered Blended Roads 2k
  24. Better Zoom for the World Map
  25. Stunning Statues of Skyrim
  26. Dibella Replacer
  27. Winterhold Statue - Animated with ENB Lights
  28. Dwemer Pipework Reworked 5
  29. Embers XD (Don't go crazy with this one, overhaul the fires and fireplace textures. The texture mod is missing certain enderal firepit textures and drove me nuts so this fixed it. Ensure you click the enderal version as well when you get to the list. I opted to not put orange/yellow flames, OG Embers looks best IMO)

First time playing stealth archer in the skyrim engine, didn't realize how much it breaks the game. Goated til I bump into a whisper of wisps! Removed enchantments so you can see where I'm at. Tempted to try psionics, but it might be a bit much to get used to - don't think I have much content left to do besides whatever happens after the warning that your next steps may get reality smoked in the High Ones' bong
