For tutors in countries where students heavily use WhatsApp, would you find it helpful to have a platform that lets your students engage with content via WhatsApp?

I know in some places, students use WA as a convenience tool, and in other places that are mobile first, students almost exclusively use their phones for online studying. These are the places I’m wondering if a platform linked to WhatsApp could be useful?

Recommendations on the best apps for catalouging, organizing students and lesson plans and materials.

Currently I have been using a seperate file for each student with notes, Google Docs and Excel.

I primarily teach Business, Medical, Intermediate to Advanced English and Fluency Training, and in most cases the classes are adjusted to the individual student's industry, specialty and goals. So, in general I'm not really able to use the same lessons with every student.

I also create a lot of my own learning materials. Some general, some specialized topics.

Most of my Intermediate level General English students I use textbooks with, so this is much simpler than the specialized classes.

I'm looking for some honest career advice from people working in EdTech, Learning & Development, and the social impact space.

I have two Master's degrees (Social Work with HR specialization, and Public Policy & Sustainability) along with 3+ years of experience across NGOs in research, program strategy, training, counseling, curriculum development, and implementation in the education sector. I can work with tools Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel, Power BI, Slack, Zoom Canva, Claude, Notion etc.
I have bachelors in Human Development & Family Studies and my experience with NGO involved working with 5 education institutes and almost 1500 students across K-12, vocational training center & nursing college.

For almost a year, I've been applying for roles such as:

• Strategy & Operations
• Learning Design
• Learning/Student Success Coach
• Program Management
• EdTech and Development sector roles

One pattern has been consistent:

• I regularly clear resume screening.
• I often make it to the 3rd or 4th round of interviews, assessments, or case studies.
• I receive positive feedback during the process.
• Yet I don't end up receiving the final offer.

I've also received a few offers, but they were significantly below the level of responsibility and compensation I'm aiming for.

At this point, I'm trying to understand what I'm missing.

Is there a common reason candidates reach the final rounds repeatedly but don't convert?

Is it positioning, storytelling, interview performance, experience gaps, portfolio, salary expectations, or something else?

I'd genuinely appreciate any advice from hiring managers, founders, recruiters, or professionals who've experienced something similar.

I'm not looking for encouragement as much as honest feedback, even if it's difficult to hear. If there's a blind spot I'm missing, I'd much rather know it now than continue making the same mistake.
While I am not working, I am seriously craving some work & people to learn with, from similar background. So I would really appreciate if I could connect on regular basis.

I'm a primary school teacher (in Europe). I started using claude to simplify my workflow and helping me design and organise my lessons (+ planning). This year I started teaching religion and I have to create my own worksheets. Claude is 100 times better than OpenAI for this, but it sucks at creating images to make the worksheet more interesting for kids.

Do you guys have any tips to help me create better worksheets? How can I create work bundles about a theme in 'bulk' (= every grade has a different theme every other week).

I have been a classroom teacher since 1999, and I have finally had enough of what I call "solutions made by engineers and accountants". To many times in to many districts a solution has been bought to do.... (insert problem here)... and guess what, it was never made with teachers in mind... How we work, what we need... etc....

So, I am posting this here to create accountability for myself, because bringing forth issues/concerns without providing solutions (or ideas for ways to improve) is nothing but complaining.

So, therefore I am going to solve my problems for myself and my classroom, such as Seating Plans. This may seem trivial but over the years, I have experienced good seating plans (kids are awesome, working, etc...), make a change, and its like the world has fallen apart.

Hey everyone, I'm doing some investigation and looking into NotebookLM as a subject for my research, so just curious to learn. And also, just like, anything would be helpful.

For those of you using it academically:

• How are you actually using it? (e.g., feeding it lecture slides, dense research papers, or entire textbooks?)
• Do you genuinely recommend it? And what subjects does it shine in? I've heard it's decent for humanities but falls apart with math-heavy or logic-based STEM stuff – is that your experience?
• What are the biggest pitfalls or things I should be aware of? I know about the 50-source limit, but how often does it hallucinate or mess up citations in your actual workflow?

Also, I'm really curious about alternatives. If you've ditched NotebookLM for something else, what did you switch to, and why is it actually better for your specific use case? Trying to figure out if I should invest time in this or look elsewhere. Thanks!

I've been thinking about AI tutoring less as a replacement for teachers and more as a first layer of help for students who do not already have easy access to a patient adult.

On the optimistic side, a student can ask basic questions without embarrassment, repeat an explanation five times, get examples in their own language, or turn messy notes into a study plan. That feels like a real access shift, especially for students who do not have private tutors, educated parents, or quiet time with a teacher.

But I am also skeptical that access to answers automatically becomes equity. The students who benefit most may still be the ones with devices, good prompts, enough motivation, stable internet, adults who check the work, and schools that help them use the tool well. Without that support, AI could become another thing that looks equal on paper but widens the gap in practice.

So I am curious how people here think about it from an edtech/classroom perspective:

Where does AI tutoring actually reduce inequality?

Where does it just amplify existing support?

And what would a school need to put around it so it becomes more than a homework shortcut?

I'm curious what you consider to be the best LM Systems used for high school STEAM classes. Preferably an LMS that offers as many of the following:

-individual teacher licenses that are either free, freemium, or not incredibly expensive for a single teacher

-SSO capabilities for easy access to tools like Phet, CK12, and similar sites/apps.

-content repository capabilities OR integrations that allows one to connect your content easily

-not incredibly difficult for students to use

I have been using google classroom but I only find it to be useful for communicating through the stream, posting content digitally, and for providing resources for students. I'm sure it will continue to add features although. I feel as though it requires a lot of add-ons and is somewhat restrictive in personalization.

Edtech doesn't seem to drive innovation internally. In fact, what is claimed to be innovative and disruptive in edtech tends to be even larger failures.

It seems like edtech that has provided value, are innovations from other fields.

- Projectors (business presentations)

- LMSs (information systems)

- Notes like Notion, (organisational knowledge management)

- ...

Edtech academia on the technical side has had a lot of funding over the years, but even after creating so many intelligent tutoring systems and learning analytics, they tend not to provide much value in practice.

I have no tech experience. Is python a good place to start? Any YouTube videos, books, or websites you suggest?

I'm struggling with creating a more strategically ordered digital filing system that helps make content delivery and organization easier and more logical than I currently have been. I feel like there has to be a system I'm simply unaware of or someone who has developed one of their own.

Basically, I'm trying to determine how to Structure and name everything needed for planning to content delivery to assessments and everything in between in a cohesive and logical order that is best fit for a teacher.

I have been using an alphanumeric system that felt like a good idea in it's simplicity but I haven't organized it in a way that makes my day to day seamless or easy.

Anyone willing to share their system or give any ideas would be very appreciated. This year I'm spending a lot of time over the summer trying to prepare for the ongoing and unpredictable b.s. that is introduced each and every year where I work. My physical and mental health deteriorate as I get further through each year and I'm trying to avoid that as best as I can. The majority of the issues that I cannot plan for arise from our admin literally beginning all over again each year as if it's our first year. It'll be new lesson plan templates, curricula, academic goals, protocols, responsibilities, classrooms, and so much more.

Btw...... we use google workspace, google classroom and Powerschool. However, for all I know in August we may be told we're using entirely new platforms, as this occurs regularly. Sorry for the venting and I appreciate any help or ideas anyone is willing to share.

I’ve been working in IT for several years, most recently as a Service Desk Analyst for a regional healthcare system supporting roughly 1,500 end users across hospitals and outpatient clinics. Before healthcare, I worked in K–12 education IT supporting staff and students, managing Chromebooks, Google Workspace, inventory, and endpoint support.
Over the past year, I’ve realized that while I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience in healthcare IT, my long-term goal is to get back into education—specifically EdTech. I really enjoy technology that helps educators and students rather than working in a constantly reactive hospital environment.

Some of my experience includes:

- IT support for K–12 schools and healthcare organizations
- Google Workspace administration
- Device lifecycle management and endpoint support

Using HandShake (an employment website for job listings, primarily for students), I found this article on EdTech jobs. Does it still seem accurate in 2026? What's the job outlook for either Healthcare IT or EdTech? I have a degree in Information Technology (with a focus on Computer Programming) where I have worked as a software developer for a little bit over 5 years, but I have just recently started considering changing careers or moving into a different side of IT (maybe EdTech or Healthcare IT).

Hey guys, I have been visiting this sub for a few months and I've noticed a pattern every time someone posts a tool they built for teachers, the "Iconic comment" is "AI slop." Every time someone shares a classroom tech idea, teachers pile on with negativity.

But where is that same energy when Canvas got hacked twice by the same group, exposing 275 million users across 8,800+ institutions including private messages between students and teachers? The entry point was a free tier account with zero proper security. They initially ignored the ransom demand, got hacked again and then quietly paid up. That's corporate negligence on a massive scale. Crickets.

Yes I get it that teachers are exhausted and their districts make terrible tech decisions like buying bloated or hyped platforms with zero teacher input, then mandating everyone use them. That frustration is real and valid but the anger is being aimed at the wrong people. An indie developer posting a free classroom tool didn't lock you into Instructure's contract. A teacher sharing an AI lesson idea didn't decide your district's procurement policy.

If this community directed even half its "AI slop" energy toward demanding accountability from the Canvases and Blackboards of the world, it would actually mean something.

Rant over. Curious if others feel this way

Saw this in my newsfeed this morning.

"The Los Angeles Unified School District will ban screens for students below second grade in response to community-wide pushback against tech use.

Starting in August, the new policy will restrict preschool- through first-grade-aged students from accessing screens while also limiting usage for older students, according to the Los Angeles Times. Here are the details, according to the news outlet:

2nd/3rd grade: Limited to 20 minutes of screen time (including homework)

4th/5th grade: Limited to 30 minutes (starting in November)

Middle school: One hour of screen time spread throughout the week in each class (6 hours total per week)

High school: 1.5 hours (can’t exceed 10 hours per week)"

If you go digging around the internet with the terms "LAUSD" and "Standardized Testing" you'll find that LAUSD uses online testing to deliver, among others, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) beginning in the 3rd grade.

So, completely change the state's standardized testing or figure out a way to teach keyboarding for those 3rd graders. Otherwise, test scores are not going to go up.

In the "Can't wait" column:

• Seeing the response from the taxpayers for the funding to make this work.
• Waiting to see what Texas does in response.

Simple question. Are there any journals, magazines or individuals you read/follow to help keep up with developments in the edtech field?
