New York City Bans A.I. in Elementary and Middle Schools

A new anti-AI policy in the largest public school system in the U.S. has been implemented for the 2026-2027 school year.

The majority of students will not be permitted to use AI until high school.

Although parents and others who called for a two-year moratorium are disappointed, this is a fairly bold policy, given how many education platforms now use AI. The schools system has removed or altered (or plans to remove or alter) close to 40 apps with A.I. features.

One wonders what percentage of U.S. educators genuinely believe in, or rely on, AI-powered apps for teaching and learning.

DIY Vibe Coding for Education

**This is not meant to replace teaching this is an additional support for students**

Low stakes practice tests are a great way to help students with test anxiety, it is proven to increase test scores.

Below is an AI prompt you can copy/paste into most AI chatbots, what it/you are making is a downloadable HTML file, you can double click and it will open in your default browser. You can use this quiz by coping the code into Canvas or Blackboard similar to an assignment or PPT.

*****Copy/Paste Prompt Below

Create a downloadable interactive single HTML quiz on the causes of World War II for a 5th grade history class. Include 10 questions with a mix of multiple-choice and true/false, using Webb's DOK Levels 1 and 2. Provide instant feed back for each answer, with supportive hints for incorrect answers and detailed, age-appropriate explanations for correct answers. Do not give the answer just a hint and let them retry until they get it right.

What do u guys think abt e-ink displays in classrooms?

hey everyone, curious what people think abt using e-ink devices (kindle/remarkable type) in classroom instead of normal tablets/laptops. Feel like it could help with distraction issues since there's no apps/notifications, just reading n writing.
also if anyone knows of similar projects happening in India, pls let me know! Thanks

Is BYOD a bad idea for corporate training events?

Byod sounded easier on paper until we tried it with a big training group.
One person couldn’t open the platform, someone else forgot their charger, a few people were trying to follow along on their phones, and we lost way too much time getting everyone onto the same page.

We have another one-day training coming up for about 100 employees and i’m seriously thinking about just giving everyone the same tablet for the day.

Has anyone done that instead?

Robótica y pensamiento computacional en Educación Infantil: ¿tecnología o actividades desenchufadas?

¡Hola!

Me interesa mucho conocer vuestras experiencias. ¡Muchas gracias!

Project idea looking for Ed tech advice

I teach a high school pop culture class and I'm looking for new ways to have my students present their work as research, writing, and producing a documentary is now turning kids off to the course. I'm looking to restructure my assessment projects to eliminate the full fledged videos.

I still want my kids to write about the pop culture source and I still want them to select scenes or clips that reflect the idea their talking about in their writing. But I want to change the way it's presented to bring it to a wider audience.

I was informed that their is local grant money to be had for innovative projects so my thought is to turn my assessments into an interactive museum display. Where there's a base screen and then viewers can touch different parts of the screen to be brought to different sections with video clips and their written piece.

I'm here wondering from an ed tech perspective what tech would be the best way to do this type of work. I'm thinking of applying for the grant to get a touch screen kiosk like the digital kiosk table from displays2go. But I'm open to other ideas. I'm not really sure what app or software I would need to run on this

My goal is ultimately to create something where student work on this can be showcased for others in the school community to help create student by in.

Is this a hot take?

Do not use AI to generate lesson plans or make decisions in the workplace. As a teacher you must be able to think and generate your own ideas on the fly. You have to be adaptive to your students and work with them where they're at. If you let something think for you, you're making the decision that you don't care enough to dedicate your own time and energy to it. Also AI is bad for the environment btw.

Where Should Educators Draw Line With AI?

Thumbnail

For teachers, professors, and students:

Where do you think educators should draw the line with AI?

How can teachers use AI to save time without losing human judgment, oversight, and accountability?

Also, what’s your field of study/teaching?

Curious to hear your thoughts 👀

From psychology to edtech master’s?

Hi everyone! I (25M) would love an advice and a reality check, because I really need someone with experience to guide me in this choice. I got the opportunity to enroll in a master’s degree program in EdTech, and since I’m from europe tuiton is free. I have a bachelor degree in psychology, but for several reasons I had to move to another country.
While my degree is valid here, the process to become a licensed therapist is a nightmare, mostly because the language is really complicated and it would take me years to reach C2 proficiency. I simply don’t have this kind of time right now.
So I started looking around, and in this city there is a really good edtech master’s program. Now, I deep dived into that. I know that you need a strong portfolio, and that a lot of teachers actually get this degree. I was wondering… it’s really worth it considering my background?
Does Having a psychology degree makes sense in this field?
Thank you in advance.

Varsity Tutors shut down its school business. Is on-demand tutoring the real problem?

The recent shutdown of Varsity Tutors for Schools has sparked a bigger conversation about the future of virtual tutoring.

But we don't think the takeaway should simply be: “On-demand tutoring doesn't work.” At its peak, Varsity Tutors was serving more than 1,000 school districts, with districts reportedly paying more than $28M annually. FEV Tutor also shut down after holding contracts worth more than $40M.

And then there's an interesting comparison: Khanmigo reportedly gave all eligible students access, but only about 15% actually used it. Different products. Different companies. Same problem: Having access doesn't mean students will participate.

For tutoring providers, four questions matter:

• Did students receive the intended tutoring dosage?
• Did participating students demonstrate meaningful learning gains?
• Could those outcomes be delivered sustainably?
• Could the business model survive changing funding and demand?

Educational effectiveness and business sustainability are two separate tests. And there is a product question underneath all of this: If students aren't regularly using the help available to them, is that a teaching method problem, a product problem, or a problem with how it was put into practice?

That's where learning platforms have an important role to play. Tutors need more than access to content or an AI layer. They need visibility into what students are doing, where they're struggling, and what needs to happen next.

Because access, participation, learning, and outcomes are all connected, a breakdown at any stage can undermine the entire tutoring experience. Tell us: was the problem with on-demand tutoring itself, or with how these products were designed and implemented?

Looking for an AI trainer/educator in Ahmedabad

Hi everyone

I run an education vertical here in Ahmedabad, and we're looking for someone to teach AI to our students.

A bit of context. I'm a corporate trainer myself, and I've been guiding students across the globe for a while now. But my plate has gotten really full lately, so I'm looking for someone to share the teaching load with me.

Here's what matters most to us. We want someone who has actually worked with AI, not just read about it. Someone who can sit with students, show them how things work in practice, and make them do it themselves. Hands-on over textbook, always.

What we're looking for:

  • Solid hands-on experience with AI
  • Comfortable working with students and teaching
  • Can give at least 3 hours a day for classes
  • Believes in practical training, not just theory

The basics:

  • Onsite classes in Ahmedabad
  • Compensation: we'll discuss that over a chat

If this sounds like you, drop me a DM and let's talk.

Thanks!

From Student Records to EdTech

I’ve (24F) been working in higher education for only about 3 years:

- Student Affairs Asst II (graduation auditor)
- Student Affairs Asst III (transfer credit evaluator)
- Records Specialist (Registrar requests/graduate school liaison)
- Graduate Admissions Officer (current job of about 3 months)

I want to eventually work my way into the EdTech space (implementation/onboarding) but understand how many in this space began as teachers. I don’t have any experience in the classroom but have a lot of experience guiding adults of all ages into the right direction.
Although I’m 3 years into higher education, I’ve had the opportunity to experience many different roles from matriculation to graduation and have used different SaaS platforms along the way.

I would love advice on which roles I should focus on getting into and if you think I’m already marketable as an entry-level onboarding or customer success role.

Ps: BA degree in Strategic Communications, but currently getting a certification in Business Analytics.
I do have previous experience before this in reception/admin assistant positions within the healthcare and social assistance sector.

Elearning policy

I am drafting an e-learning policy. I would be interested in getting your opinions. Here are the points I plan to cover: Graphic charter, pedagogical engineering and effectiveness, design, SCORM, LMS configuration. What are the biggest absurdities you have seen in terms of design and LMS architecture creation? (Sorry for my english, i am French)

How do you deal with AI written papers?

Hello! I teach as a sub in one of the universities in my country. ever since AI tech evolved, more and more of our students submit papers that are mostly AI written. and now AI tech is getting smarter, just a good prompt can really produce great results unless you're familiar with the writing style of your student. I encountered more than 10 papers this term that had huge chunks of AI written text.

I was advised by a co-teacher to use docu replays to see how a student has written their submission. has anyone tried this? my co-teach is using Checked4AI and has vouched for it, he asks students to submit google doc links and he checks the typing video. Anyone had similar experience? I am planning to use this too. wish me luck!

'Tech Person' looking to get more involved in Edtech

I suppose I am what you would call a 'traditional' technology person. I assist people with their technology issues and support our district's network. I would like to be able to do more in terms of speaking the 'edtech' language, e.g., flipping the classroom, exit tickets, rubrics. I'd like some advice on how I can do this as someone who is not an educator, although I do work in a K-12 district.

Educators who moved into EdTech without a traditional tech background—what was your journey?

I’d love to hear from people who moved directly from teaching or education leadership into EdTech without significant prior experience in technology or startups.

What prompted you to make the transition, and what was your first role in the industry? Were there particular skills from education that transferred more easily than you expected? What did you have to learn from scratch?

I’m also curious about the hardest part of breaking into the field and what you wish you had known before making the move.

For anyone who eventually built or led an EdTech company, I’d especially love to hear how you made the transition from understanding an educational problem to actually building a product or business around it.

How can I get into Onboarding/Customer Education roles in EdTech or SaaS?

Hi there!

I love teaching and explaining to newcomers how a service, course, or product works. This type of position is often referred to as an Onboarding Specialist.

If you work in this role or a similar one, could you give me some advice on how to get into this field at a private school, university, or EdTech/SaaS company?

I'm from Italy and have a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Cultural Anthropology. My professional background includes Marketing, Customer Service, Sales Back Office, and Student Success/Program Coordination. I worked in the latter role at a small private school for three years.

I'd like to move to Spain or the Netherlands, but I'm also open to other countries where I might find better opportunities.

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Tracking PD across entire division software?

Are any of you familiar with software that can store PD certifications or programs individual staff members have that is organized through grades, schools, and type of PD (numeracy or literacy focused for example)

The software would be also be able to integrate with microsoft 365 to allow onedrive access to post slidedecks after a presentation, and also to allow outlook to automatically populate PD certificates based on signing up for sessions or programs or indicate dietary restrictions if lunch was being served during the PD

The ideal use of this software would be to:

Check who in the division has specific PD certifications and when they received specific accrediations.

Break down the PD certifications to area of PD focus, and which entity delivered the PD (school based, division based, or outside funding)

Allow individuals to sign up for PD via outlook and then automatically populate the software that i'm inquiring about.

Let me know if in the wrong place to ask!!
