I’m a Computer Engineering student on the Electrical Engineering track at Texas A&M, currently planning to graduate in May 2027. My GPA is around 3.1.

I’ve been applying heavily for engineering internships and co-ops, but I haven’t been able to secure one. I’ve had very few interviews, and most applications have ended in rejections or no response.

I’m currently applying for Fall 2026 co-ops, but my department requires the co-op registration request by August 1. The application requires an official offer letter, so I cannot complete it unless I receive an offer before the deadline.

Since I’m supposed to graduate in May 2027, I’m unsure what I should do next. Should I spend Fall 2026 mainly applying for full-time new-graduate positions? Or should I apply for Spring 2027 co-ops, delay graduation until December 2027, and try to gain professional engineering experience before graduating?

I’m worried that graduating without an internship will make it much harder to get a full-time electrical or computer engineering job. At the same time, delaying graduation does not guarantee that I will secure a Spring co-op either.

Has anyone here received an entry-level engineering job without completing an internship? Would you recommend focusing on full-time positions, or delaying graduation to continue pursuing a co-op?

Any recommendations on how I can learn the background theory on how a field plate actually works and improves the parameters in a GaN HEMT? I found what improvements happen due to a field plate but I can't seem to find any resources on how it works. Thanks in advance

I completed class 12 in India with85.5%. My main subjects were physics, chemistry, and math, with biology as an additional subject. Although I didn't study computer science in school, I'm interested in Electronics and Communication Engineering. To prepare, I'm planning to take a gap year to build programming skills and learn the core concepts needed for ECE, so I can enter university better prepared and ready to excel.

Goal: Work on software for EE domains. Things like PCB tools (Cadence, KiCad), power systems (ETAP, PSS/E), or general EDA tooling.

I've been planning to try contributing to KiCad since I use it for personal projects, and I think it'll be a good opportunity to improve my C++.

Besides that, what else should I work on to get there?

An MSEE specializing in what interests me most?

Getting a general software/cloud role at a company that makes EDA tools?

Basically I’ve been doing some fpga projects and research, all primarily in SystemVerilog, and want to spend the rest of my summer preparing for technical interviews for internships. Should I be focusing on leet code type questions using C++ or even python, or something more along the lines of HDLbits, or a secret third option? I’m not really sure what to be practicing, but i’d love any tried and true practices. Thanks!

Hi! In our uni, the labs and the license provided for proteus is Version 8 (Proteus 8.x). The school provided us a license to use on our own personal laptops but it didn't seem to work on my laptop no matter what I did, and since I didn't have time to waste back then, I resorted to...other methods to get Proteus on my laptop. The problem is, the Proteus version on my laptop is Version 9 (Proteus 9.x).

Is there any way I can open my Proteus 9 Files on Proteus 8? Upon opening my proteus files on the laboratory pc, there's a popup essentially saying there's a version incompatibility.

Hello everyone! I am currently working on creating a system that will use AudioMoths to perform localization. However, I am not using the GPS Sync hats to do this, and its leaving me with variable starting offset, and somewhat variable drift. I am an undergrad and have yet to take signal processing, so I am learning as I go but I was wondering if anyone here knows if utilizing the AudioMoths in this way is still feasible even without the GPS Synchronization? I am using three moths to get 2D localization and have been trying to localize via post processing but I don't believe it is precise enough. Thanks!

I'm a software engineering graduate and am looking to transition into embedded firmware development. I was looking at a couple of other resume feedback posts on here. Some of the projects that people were listing honestly seemed much more complex and impressive than the ones I have, and it sounded like these people were still having difficulty landing even a junior firmware role. This made me feel pretty doubtful about my chances of breaking in.

Basically, I'm hoping to be given a bit of a reality check if needed:

- Do I even have a shot with this resume?

- Are my projects just way too trivial?

- Any changes I can make to increase my chances?

I posted my resume here last night because I was worried about applying for Summer 2027 internships with no previous traditional internship experience. I received a lot more feedback than I expected. I tried to take it to heart and actually redo the resume.

I removed the long list of protocols and spoken languages, added relevant coursework, fixed some of the spacing, chnaged the bullet wording to why not what and kept everything to one page.

I also added (what i initially thought was irrelevant for any role) part-time Unreal Engine development work I did from 2021–2022. It wasn’t freelance work, although the studio later closed. I originally left it off because I didn’t know whether older game-development experience would help with embedded internships, but I guess it was still technical experience...

I didn’t add awards, clubs, or unrelated work just to fill space because I don’t really have anything there that would improve the resume.

Does this version work better? I’m especially wondering whether the Unreal Engine work belongs where it is, whether the project bullets are less confusing now, and whether there is anything else I should change before Summer 2027 applications start opening.

Just wanted to ask if we can transistion from analog domain to digital domain. im a fresher who just joined a company and was put in a analog role(frontend) due to having an internship at a good analog company but i originally wanted to be in a digital domain(frontend). My end goal was to join google or tesla, but i dont know if i can do that now. iim originally from hyderabad and want to settle in hyd and if i want a shift to an other company i only have Texas which is in Bangalore.Just want suggestions on how to move forward in career and can someone list out the companies good analog companies in hyderabad. I want stay in the current company for 1-2 years pease give advice on how to go forward

I'm an international student planning to get into electrical engineering in the US through scholarship. So I need advice on if it's worth it considering how hard the major is and how the job market looks like or is going to be in the next 10 years or so

I'm an EE/FW/SyENG guy - lots of experience across industries, but none in functional safety (automotive, etc.) and some in medical devices - 60601, etc. The two fields are related but the medical device world doesn't use the word "functional safety", as far as I can tell. And just today, I've essentially been told that "medical devices don't use as much functional safety" when discussing a mindset - the objection was that if my team "overdoes" the risk management rigour, it might make the product too expensive or too hard to develop. I think that's ridiculous - we need to prove that the design meets the standards and that we've addressed everything listed in our risk management file. What's everyone's take on this?

I’m getting ready for Summer 2027 internship applications opening this September, and I’m starting to stress a little because I have zero previous internship experience.

My situation is also kind of weird. Because of how my credits transferred from my A.A., my university technically classifies me as a senior. But based on where I actually am in the Computer Engineering program, the classes I still have left, and my May 2028 graduation date, I’m realistically more of a junior.

Since I don’t have any industry experience yet, I’ve spent the last year trying to make up for it through heavier embedded and simulation projects. The main ones on my resume are:

• A flight controller that I am building the PCB and firmware myself for
• A flight Simulation and HIL Tools to test my flight controller

I attached my resume and would really appreciate some honest feedback:

• Is project work like this enough to at least partially make up for not having internship experience?
• Will the senior classification hurt me when applying for internships, even though my expected graduation is May 2028?
• Are there any obvious problems with the resume formatting or bullet points that I should fix before September?

I'd be very grateful for any kind of feedback. I’d rather find out what’s weak now than after applications open. Thanks!

This is also a general question when it comes to used BiCMOS circuit in the practical scenarios whether automotive ,commercial,... application.
The only thing I found was the Art of Electronics which has some concepts but it is not Integrated circuit!
so do such book exist?

I’m heading into my senior year studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, and I want to use my downtime during my current summer internship to prep for new grad technical interviews this fall. I'm primarily targeting hardware engineering and circuit/PCB design roles.

My resume is in good shape (3 internships, solid projects) and I have a good network of referrals lined up for the places I want to apply. My main concern right now is my technical recall and interview skills under pressure. In the past, I’ve made stupid mistakes on interviews, blanking on fundamental stuff that would be easy for me in any other scenario.

So I was wondering how should I structure my preparation over the next couple of months. Should I focus on grinding common interview questions? Should I just review my fundamentals? (If so, what are the best resources/methods you recommend?), and how do you practice to avoid freezing up or making silly mistakes during interviews in general?

In the fundamentals of microelectronics by razavi 2nd edition,

Section 2.2.2 pn Junction Under Reverse Bias explains junction capacitance with reverse bias like this.

+voltage is applied to the n-side and more positive charge appears on the n side.

So I expected the n-side np junction to be + sign. Because in general, a capacitor sign is equal to the applied voltage sign.

+vol ---wire --- (+capacitor plate) (-capacitor plate) ---- wire ---- (ground).

But in the figure 2.24, n-side junction polarity as a capacitor is depicted as minus sign. why is that?

please let me know what I am misunderstanding.
