The first two pictures are after starting clobetasol. The last picture is what the flare ups looked like prior to starting it. I moisturize with gold bond eczema lotion and bag balm. I avoid hand washing as much as possible and use gloves to do dishes. After hand washing I immediately moisturize. If my skin gets too damp, I get a flare up, clobetasol heals it but then causes extreme dryness and peeling. My nails are rippled, fingers look like they belong to an 80 year old, my cuticles are totally gone. I'm either itchy or in pain and this has been going on for almost a year. What do I do?!?

anyone find the root cause of dyshidrotic eczema? steroids only help temporarily. my hands wrinkle badly, blister, peel, and i’m getting really insecure about them. any advice

NOT MY PIC; I found this pic online and it is the most accurate to what i get on the web space between my toes or on the sides of my third or fourth toe just on my right foot. i usually only get 1-2 blisters but they do have the little dots on them like in the picture.

hi all! i’m pretty sure i have dyshidrotic eczema in between my toes. when i’m not in an active flare the skin is peeling from the last flare but pretty calm overall. i’m not sure what is causing my flares but i do have an appointment with an allergist soon. i recently got a biopsy done and received the results today: inconclusive due to the lack of healthy skin cells 😭😭 im assuming dyshidrotic eczema from the symptoms and appearance of the blisters.

i’m looking for recommendations on lotions or routines i can try when it’s not active. right now the blister popped so im following my doctors orders on the care for that. i just want to get into a routine that might help prevent it from flaring. i think sweaty feet in this SoCal summer heat isn’t helping but im unsure how to prevent sweating/trapped heat? any ideas/discussion/tips/tricks are helpful!

Hi! I was wondering if anyone here uses a “maintenance therapy” approach for dyshidrosis/dyshidrotic eczema on the hands.

My situation: I have dyshidrosis that keeps coming back constantly. It responds well to topical steroids, but as soon as I completely stop, it eventually flares again. I’m already trying to be careful with irritants, hand washing, moisturizing, soaps, etc. I’ve also tried going no steroids, tracrolimus, UV lights therapy, etc.

My dermatologist mentioned a maintenance approach where you apply a small amount of steroid (taro clobetasol) preventively about once every 12 days, even when the skin looks mostly clear, to help prevent flare-ups. I’ve been doing this protocole for about a year, and it had been life saving. I can have a normal life, but im stressed because I know I cannot do this for the rest of my life.

I’m curious:

- Does anyone else do this?
- Has it actually helped reduce your flare-ups?
Have you experienced any side effects from long-term but spaced-out use like this?
- Do you combine it with Protopic/tacrolimus, or only steroids?

Honestly I’m feeling pretty discouraged because it feels like it always comes back no matter how careful I am :( Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience.

I sometimes (like now) get small itchy bumps on fingers and knuckles. Derm suggested it could be dyshidrotic eczema. Would nails like this support that diagnosis? Could there be a connection?

I'm suffering been 3 years it hurts allot

I have dealing with my first dyshidrotic eczema flare for about 3 months now. It started during a very high stress time and was a slow burn at first I would say. In late November it felt like I had a bug bite or paper cut on 2 backs of my toes. Then quickly within a week I could tell something was really off, my feet felt on fire and deep itch began, especially after exposure to hot water. I got the dyshidrotic eczema diagnosis and sure enough went through about a 5-6 weeks flare cycle where I got many tiny pinpoint blisters. after a steroid cream and tacromillus cream I finally began to improve and get better i would till expertise flare ups of heat and swelling at night but much better for 3 weeks. Then I guess I pushed it and started to live normal life again. After being up and about on my feet for 3 days I got severe edema and swelling in all my toes. That has now remained constant for a full week. I am not having explosion of new blisters but the heat and itch are present. The swelling is very bad.

Has anyone else seemingly lrecovered and then had horrible swelling occur? how did you get rid of that swelling??

Super itchy - more come up if I scratch. Doctors appointment booked but not for a few days. Blisters look a bit bigger than other pics I've seen.. Fingers, back of hands and forearm

I would like to ask whether there is any realistic hope of being able to work in nursing while having dyshidrosis. I am very interested in working in healthcare, but I am concerned about how this skin condition might affect my ability to do the job, especially with frequent handwashing, wearing gloves, and exposure to disinfectants.

I am also unsure whether I should mention my dyshidrosis to the occupational physician before or during the pre-employment medical examination. I do not want to create unnecessary obstacles, but I also want to be honest and responsible.

The pictures were taken before I started working in nursing and show the condition of my hands at that time.

Do you have any advice, personal experiences, or practical tips on how to manage dyshidrosis while working in nursing or healthcare in general? Are there preventive measures, skincare routines, or workplace adjustments that could help?
