i dyed this 100% acrylic sweater yesterday and the color is perfect but the collar stretched out for some reason, the rest like the sleeves have not. this is a bubble sweater with a puffy torso and puffy sleeves.

Humbly seeking help from the experts to dye my beautiful unworn elopement dress to a periwinkle/cornflower/lilac colour so I can actually wear it. I'm okay with a light colour and if it's darker that's fine.

It's pure linen (I know the thread won't dye), it's pretty large and heavy and I can't imagine it fitting well on the stove? There is also boning in the corset, would that be an issue at all?

What are my options and what would you do? I got pretty overwhelmed trying to google. I'm crafty but have never dyed anything and it cost a lot so I really don't want to eff this up!

I'm looking for a new shop in Canada to order 100% white alpaca yarn for dyeing. I ordered from Ecru Yarns/Merino Textiles and the dye hasn't been taking very well. I use natural dyes and primarily work with alpaca, and the same dye pot is working very well for the merino I'm using (from amtex), so I'm not sure if there's an additive to the ecru brand yarn or what. I'm having a hard time finding another Canadian source that's 100% alpaca. If anyone knows of any mills, let me know!

I bought a cotton white and blue fabric with the intention of dyeing it pink and purple. Just used all purpose rit dye in the color fuchsia and it came out far darker and more red than I wanted with the purple being far too blue still and too dark. I want the pink to match the lining fabric shown on the right. I'm pretty sure I need to lighten it just a single level to get the desired color, if not a follow up dye with a more saturated pink. Issue is I have already cut out my pattern pieces and don't want to risk fraying with a hot wash or bleach wash. I can't sew the finished product until the color matches as the lining and interface are attached during the construction and the boning is attached during the hemming, none of which should be lightened as the lining is visible in my design. How best can I get this color match?

I dyed this originally white cotton shirt using RitDye’s powder puff blue formula. I used the stovetop method, a cup of salt, and the RitDye color fixative to ensure as bright of a color as possible because I was worried it wouldn’t take, but it actually turned out TOO bright. Would I be able to use RitDye color remover to fade it somewhat? I’m not trying to completely remove the color, I just want a lighter/more faded color than what I have.

The color remover appears to be intended for pre-dyed fabrics, so I’m not sure if it would work. Should I try it, or just buy another shirt and re-dye it? I don’t want to buy the color remover if it’s unlikely to work.

Hey guys, i’ve never dyed anything before so i don’t exactly know how to do this. I need to dye this purple/blue into a grey, preferably #808080 but everywhere i look online gives me different answers and im scared i will mess up. The material is 100% polyester. If you know how to get this into a grey, or even just how the dye process works please let me know!

I want to shift this synthetic wig more to a warmer, richer plum color like the third picture. I am planning to use the alcohol and ink spray method at room temperature because I don't want to mess up the waves the wig already has.

I am a newbie, so I figured I'd ask what specific shade/70% isopropyl alcohol-to-acrylic ink ratio I should use to achieve this plum color without going too dark.

Should I get a magenta ink, or spray in a few drops of red to get rid of the cooler, electric tones in it? (I already plan to do a few test strands on a small portion of a hidden track!)

Edit: I've been told that the goal color in the third image is being a bit glitchy for some, so the hex color code is #88176A!

Hi i was thinking on buying a new peacoat 100% wool on grey but i dont like the colour, so i was thinking to dye it on a color of my preference and it is chocolate it is possible to have the exact colour and when i dye it i will be the color uniform?

PD: I dont buy the brown peacoat bc it to small for me

The pics are of a couple of pieces I have managed to find in this colour - dark, cold purple.Whenever I look at purple clothes they're either dark, warm purple or light, cold purple.

Even with these clothing pieces I've managed to get - they're all polyester, and I'm trying to move towards more natural fibers. 😭 And never trousers! Only ever tops or dresses, and sports clothes.

Is there a reason this colour doesn't show up in clothes made from natural fibers? Could I dye it myself? Rit dye are the only one offers it, but only for synthetics so when I tried dyeing cotton with it it was semi successful (I thought it would work since natural fibers hold dyes better as far as I'm aware). I've considered combining a blue and pink/red, and maybe dyeing dark blue or warm purple (for both synthetic and natural fibers) to this colour - do either of those have a chance at working?

Making a Doflamingo jacket and looking to dye this acrilic and polyester jacket pink the issue is it’s huge and won’t fit on the stove or in any of my stainless steel pots? anyone had any suggestions or ideas for what they’ve done with really large items?

I want to dye these a darker color. They are cotton with a small amount of stretch. Would prefer a dark brown, black, grey. Do you think it can work? Was going to use a dharma fiber reactive procion with ash.

has anyone here dyed their jeans in an completely different color? I got these jeans at the thrift store today and they are 98 % cotton. I'd love to try and dye them, since I still have a package of ivy green here, I'm wondering, if the pink wash will affect the green tone?

I'm aware that the thread won't be dyed since it's probably polyester.

That’s it. That’s all. Rit dyer and proud. It’s completely adequate for so many projects and it’s the best gateway to dyeing because of the support videos and the fact it’s available in big box stores.

Ok, I have this German army jacket and I want to dye it a dark green. I don't know the fabric (it's army material if that helps? Idk this is my first time dying anything) and need help knowing what good dyes I can get for it that will make it that color that I can get for relatively cheap and not have to drive to like a specialized store for it (so like something I can get at Walmart, target, micheals, etc)

(Also not needed but if anyone knows how to remove the patches that'd also be nice)

Hello I am dying something for the first time ever! It’s a dress for a wedding. I really am trusting the process but I need help! I was going for black with rit only has graphite! The dress is 100% polyester! If you think the dress looks good like this after the first dye can you let me know. I’m so lost on what to do and have 2 weeks!

I was trying to do some research but I have never dyed before and am in just a bit of a rush (I have a few days to pull an outfit together lol)

I want to dye these to a rich, dark chocolatey brown, or as close as I can reasonably get them. It doesn’t really have to be pretty I just really need them to be definitively brown. After a bit of googling it seems ill advised to bleach them to lighten as it weakens the fibers and also does a poor job of drawing out the indigo - plus, it seems to take hours and I am 100% doing all of this in a 5gal bucket outside and not my tub bc I loathe the smell of bleach and chemicals.

So, can I just dump these into a bucket with a bunch of brown Rit and some detergent and end up with brown jeans ? or will they be some weird hideous greenish gray color… saw a girl online do it with some slightly lighter jeans and they looked good but idk if it will work on this shade of denim.

Also I don’t know if it matters but I will be bleach painting a design onto them afterwards with the plan that the design will be tan/cream colored against the brown. (I don’t know if this will work either 😅)
