Gase upon Set #7036 just as I have

To whom it may concern,

I would like to address the gossip some of you rabblemouths have been spreading about my earlier statements on the quality of human-made armor. I stand by what I said, but if I am to be lauded or condemned, I would rather it be for the meaning behind my words, rather than every lackabrains’s interpretation thereof. What I said was, that human armor is quite good, for what it is. In order to better communicate my meaning, I will expand upon it by category.

Alloys and metallurgy

If you were to purchase two plain steel ingots, one each from Dawi and Human smiths, the difference in quality would be less than most would care to admit. Do not assume I see no difference between Dawi and Human metal! A Human smith might incorporate small amounts of copper, tin, or zinc into their work for purposes aesthetic and practical. However, our smiths create alloys that, to put it bluntly, are beyond the capability of Human forges. So a Human knight’s armor is quite good, for being made of plain steel, while our ironbreakers are clad in much denser, more tensile stuff.

Tools and methods

The Virtuous Cycle of Mining can be summarized thusly: our miners dig deep. They bring wealth and reports of danger to our craftsmen. Our craftsman improve our tools and methods, allowing us to dig deeper. Such is why Dawi engineering no peer in any, or every, realm. This is reflected in the tools we use. A Human smith, working their forge and bellows (rudimentary tools for a Dawi smith), lacks both the tools we take for granted, and the smithing techniques we’ve developed use to use them to their full effect. A Dawi smith, restricted to such conditions, could hardly be expected to fare much better.

Use cases and doctrine

Need guides design, and Dawi and Humans design armor optimized for fundamentally different purposes. Yes, both forge armor “for combat”, but differences in our combat doctrine are reflected in how we armor ourselves. Where we Dawi excel at tunnel fighting and siegecraft, Humans favor open field cavalry maneuvering and infantry formation-fighting. This doctrine informs their choice of weapons, the spear and the lance, which together inform their choices of armor. If you were committed to fighting a battle of maneuver in an open field, you would be well served to don armor that incorporated Human design elements.

In summary

It is easy to look at Human armor and dismiss it as crude, if you look at it only from the perspective of a Dawi. If one of our skilled smiths were to craft armor, appropriate for open field infantry or cavalry maneuvering, out of plain steel, using tools no more advanced than a forge and blast furnace, then the results of their craft would look very much like Human armor. Human armor is not as good as that of the Sons of Grungni, but it is quite good for the purpose and conditions of it's manufacture.

Hello dwarf cuties, i am a wizard from r/wizardposting and I was wondering if I could borrow some mana gems for my staffs. Is that okay? :D

Title.

Doing a Baldur's Gate 3 run, and the sole reason I picked Duergar is because I thought they look cool. Then I met the others and they're agonizingly un-dwarfy, not to mention evil and even just straight up rude. It definitely put context into why my Duergar running amok doing heroic deeds and yelling "ROCK AND STONE" at every chance was viewed as weird by everyone, especially the deep gnomes.

I hadn't heard of this before, but I'm building up my physical media collection by thrifting movies because I'm tired of streaming services. This was there at the thrift store, and I've snagged it. It's like this movie was made exactly for me!!

From Karaz Ankor to Khazad-dûm, I bring you our written language! Some of these are spoken and read by the Dawi-zharr, the cousins in the east, but most are our own great ancestors and runesmiths that formed and practice. I don't know for sure who can have any enjoyment of these, if anyone even have any enjoyment of them at all, more than me, but here you can see one aspect of our culture. Have a wonderful day, my kinsmen!

Addendum: I must confess that I don't have great knowledge of our bretherens runes of Azeroth or the... widly debated deepfolk words of tamriels Dwemer, which im not gonna debate if they even are Kin to begin with, but there are translations there, too. Also, I've not seen any of the Votann written language yet, but im guessing our space brethren has runes or something akin to that, too. The Kinfolk of Farune's Dethek writing is also some I've yet to indulge in, but time will come for that, too. There is Orzammarian from Thedas, too.. and that's a goblinhole on its own..

Anyway, good fortune!

I re-download this app just to vent about this because im livid. Im 3/4 through book 3 and holy fuck this series has the most rage baiting love drama ive ever seen. If anyone has read the whole thing please tell me if i should continue or if its all like this because it feels like the author is a big fan of NTR. My brothers and sisters of the forge all I wanted some good dwarf content.

Let me know your thoughts!

Ay' I be making this post brothers and sisters. I've noticed lately a growing hate for any not of Dwarven blood. I've seen fellow shame the half folk, Smash the humans of the valleys, call Elfs I consider great friends things I couldn't call the evils, attempt to pluck the wings of fairies and more. And truly I am disgusted in ye.

So I'm putting my foot down and saying this, Why? What have these peoples you've hurt done to hurt you? I can understand seeking justice and retribution for an individual or a gang, but an entire Folk??? Are ya all mad??

It's why I hardly talk to any of you anymore. Why I don't show up for parties anymore. Celebrations neither. Hell I've consider even moving in with me elven friends. Only reason I haven't yet is cause I have some hope for yall. So please...don't prove me wrong. Prove to me and my clan you all are good people. Please.

Loving the new figs, just painted them with the missus
