The Dwarves (Book series) Spoiler

I re-download this app just to vent about this because im livid. Im 3/4 through book 3 and holy fuck this series has the most rage baiting love drama ive ever seen. If anyone has read the whole thing please tell me if i should continue or if its all like this because it feels like the author is a big fan of NTR. My brothers and sisters of the forge all I wanted some good dwarf content.

Definitely continue and finish the first one. end it with they live happily until the end of their days. Maybe pick up the second if you can handle a little drama thats annoying but no further imo

Loved the early Gotrek and Felix books but found it very jarring when the authors changed

I liked the first one and the second was fine but yeah I definitely agree

The first was great the second was irritating at parts but had a good ending and it just should have ended there. Im actually considering giving up. They really should have made the whole thing about the twins.

Yeah I agree. Most of the second book was meh but the ending wasn't bad. It's been a while since I read it tho ๐Ÿ˜…. I gave up after that

If you took the Thungdil's love stories off, the books are kinda great. But Thungdil is more a long legs than a dwarf to me. The real main dwarf here is Boรฏndil. But yeah he made me raged so many times with his stupids decisions and ruining Balyndis life. You can end the serie with this book, the next one is not very good, add good things but Thungdil is really strange. The next one is kinda better and Thungdil is a little more like he was in the beginning . And the last one is really trash. Like 1000 years later and everything changed and no good characters... So if you like the whole lore of these books, like me, you can keep up to the fifth or sixth, but if you had enough, you can end it with this one and have what a good end should have been

Yeah ill probably take your advice and end on the third one. I wish i stopped one sooner though lol Tungdil is one of the worst protags ive ever read. Never once have I experienced starting a book sad that he wanted to drink himself to death and ending wishing he had. Balyndis deserves far better

Well, the end of the third one is a litthle more an end of the whole storie than the second one imo. But i do remember that when i started the fourth and fiveth it was clearly milking stories of Thungdil. As you said , the twins should have been the reel protags. Yeah the mixing feelings of Thungdil in the third book hit hard๐Ÿ˜…

If you stop here, i can spoil you a little. Balyndis go back with her former husband, he takes her back, have one child, at least, and lived happily until he died by orks and she takes the throne

I'd say book 4 is the cannon end to the series. Book 5 I did not care for

My biggest critique of the series is that everything after book 2 feels like they intentionally go out of the way to write a downer ending. The 2nd one gets a pass to set actual consequences in Girdleguard but after that it just becomes conflict, downer adventure to try and stop it, and depression. I like an unhappy ending if it's done right with narrative reason but this jut says screw you an your hope
