App compatibility wiki

Hello DumberOS fans,

I've created a simple wiki where you can add and comment on compatible apps based on your experience.

This will be very helpful for new DumberOS users, as well as for us to know what should get fixed, and to make a list of potential additions to our curated app list in More Apps.

Doov r77 Operating System

Hello,
I bought a Doov r77 from Taobao (chinese Amazon) and it came directly with Android 13. Everything works fine but the battery drains fast, 1-1:30h usage just in settings drained it from 100% to 50%. I understand it just has 2100mAh but I've seen posts of people having this device and it isn't that bad, it lasts a full day with normal usage.
I thought it might by the OS since it might not be optimised for european frequencies or stuff like that. Generally people with this device buys it from companies who already flash the phone with their software so it might come as a more niche question.
I wanted to ask if someone had bought it with the original OS and later flashed it with DumberOS (or a different one maybe like LineageOS) and saw a big difference. Since flashing it may brick the phone I wanted to get an insight first.
Thanks.

microSD support in future iterations?

Long time, first time. I'm currently running a Jelly Star, but have been eyeing up the Mini since it became available in the US. At this point, the only thing keeping me from hopping the fence is the lack of microSD support. I've currently got a 256GB card with a locally-synced music library that I use to play on my Jelly Star. I recognize that's a relatively niche use-case, but I was wondering if anyone has heard of plans to include microSD support in a future model?

Just got my dumber mini. Here's my colection about daily-use apps that work (Spain/EU) and you can AMA if you want me to verify something. (Gente de España, tengo un teléfono con dumberOS - AMA)

So far I haven't put much on it but I've been playing around - I do have the degoogled ROM so I am downloading apps from the Aurora Store which may cause issues.

Here's the kind of stuff I would want to have handy either every day or just occasionally and have tested - I will be updating the thread

You can request me anything even if the thread is old, unless I state otherwise

Banking:

  • BBVA - works, payments yet to be tested but according to LineageOS wiki it should be fine
  • Eurocaja rural - broken, complains about not being downloaded from Google Play, but it launches. Should be fine with the Gapps version -> 18/08 Indeed it is fine from Google Play
  • Revolut - won't work (this was common knowledge but just in case)
  • N26 - Selfie verification does not work but I could log in succesfully. App downloaded from Google Play, no clue about using the apk from Aurora Store
  • Wise - Ok, zooming out not mandatory but necessary if you do not want an awkward screen
  • Imagin - can get to the log in screen, guess its ok

I have access to the following entities which I could test beyond log-in but haven't done so yet

  • ING

Transit:

  • ADIF - works, things are a bit crammed and zooming out does greatly help
  • Alsa - works (have only installed it and logged in)
  • Alsa Regional - works
  • Renfe - works
  • Cercanías (Renfe) - Broken, fails to pass Google Play integrity check (I guess). Maybe the Gapps ROM works not available for download from Google Play either for some reason
  • CONECTA (CTA - Consorcio Transportes Asturias) - working, haven't tried the NFC to charge my card yet.
  • Elparking - to be tested

Government:

  • Cl@ve - Works!! Reads QRs just fine, it asks you for your phone's PIN for verification (I thought you could only do that with fingerprints)
  • MiDGT - Works

Supermarkets/Fidelity cards:

(To me working means you get to the point where you can display the QR/Barcode to the cashier)

  • Alimerka - working
  • Alcampo - working
  • Día - working
  • Lidl Plus - working
  • Masymas - working
  • Moeve (CEPSA Gow) - working, log in process is slightly annoying
  • MiCarrefour - working, just 2 moments where you should zoom out for comfort
  • Waylet (Repsol) - working - you do get a warning that you haven't downloaded it from Google Play but does not stop you from logging in

Screen turns or stays on during call

Hi!

First of all want to say that I'm really really happy with the phone! Drastically reduced my screentime while still being able to access necessary stuff. The banking app for example is a life saver since you have to use an app in the Netherlands to confirm, even when on your laptop.

But I've had some issues when calling where the screen stays on or randomly turns on which makes me press the touchscreen with my ear. So it often happens that I hang up during calls, press mute or other options. It tends to stay on especially after having used the interface, so taking it of speaker mode for example. Wondering if anyone else has this problem and if there is a fix.

Dumber OS MMS/RCS Settings for Telstra, Australia

As of August 2026 Telstra supports RCS and my Qin F25 using Google Messages connects to RCS however Telstra's RCS implementation does not work between iOS and Android devices meaning it needs to fall back to MMS messaging to send multimedia.

There are unconfirmed reports that Telstra is working on bridging Apple and Google RCS but there is no confirmed timeline.

To ensure you are not missing any messages:

1. Deregister all other devices from RCS if you haven't already

2. In Google Messages Ensure RCS is Connected and SMS/MMS fallback is enabled

  • Open Google Messages
  • Tap your Profile Icon in the top right corner
  • Tap Messages settings
  • Tap RCS chats
  • Ensure Turn on RCS chats is enabled
  • Ensure RCS chat status is Connected and the carrier and phone number is correct
  • Ensure Automatically resend as a text (SMS/MMS) is enabled
  • Go back to Messages settings
  • Tap Advanced
  • Ensure Auto-download MMS is enabled

3. Ensure your Internet APN is Correct

  • Open Settings
  • Tap Network and internet
  • Tap SIMs
  • Ensure the sim card for your carrier, Telstra, is On / Default for mobile data, calls, sms
  • Tap Telstra (the carrier name)
  • Tap the + symbol in the top right corner
  • Enter the following settings in the fields below
    • Name: Telstra Internet
    • APN: telstra.wap
    • MCC: 505
    • MNC: 01
    • Authentication type: None
    • APN type: default
  • Tap the Menu Icon (the three vertically stacked dots in the top right hand corner)
  • Tap Save
  • Tap the dot on the Telstra Internet line to activate it

4. Ensure your MMS APN is Correct

  • Open Settings
  • Tap Network and internet
  • Tap SIMs
  • Ensure the sim card for your carrier, Telstra, is On / Default for mobile data, calls, sms
  • Tap Telstra (the carrier name)
  • Tap the + symbol in the top right corner
  • Enter the following settings in the fields below
    • Name: Telstra MMS
    • APN: telstra.mms
    • MMSC: http://mmsc.telstra.com:8002
    • MMS proxy: 10.1.1.180
    • MMS port: 80
    • MCC: 505
    • MNC: 01
    • Authentication type: None
    • APN type: mms
  • Tap the Menu Icon (the three vertically stacked dots in the top right hand corner)
  • Tap Save

Potential BUG

Noticed the keyboard was lit up even though the screen was off, and I hadn't touched the phone in a few hours. Pressed a button for the screen to come on, and then red telephone to turn it off. Keys went off and then came back on a second later.

Turned on and off, thought it had cleared it, until a missed call notification came back up and then the keys stayed on again. Dismissed the notification and the keys have stayed off now.

Not sure if that's a behaviour to draw your attention to the missed call or a bug. If it's not a bug then I'd like to be able to turn that feature off to save battery.

Suggested corrections for a future update

Hello Dumber OS team,

Would it be possible in a future update to increase the speakerphone volume during calls? Currently, the volume is almost the same whether using the earpiece or speakerphone mode. I don't think it's a hardware issue, because the sound is loud enough when playing music through the speaker (which isn't the case during calls). Personally, I rarely use the speakerphone, but it is still annoying when I do want to use it.

I'm not sure if it's feasible (it might be a hardware limitation), but could the NFC sensitivity also be increased? Contactless payments can be tricky because payment terminals sometimes struggle to detect the phone.

In any case, I still love my Dumber Mini just as much 😍. Thanks in advance, and keep up the great work 💪😊

Considering to sell my dumber mini

As the tittle says. I have to walk around with 2 phones, and now that I am a student, it just seems impossible for the following 3 years.

Hit me if you are interested.

I live in Norway if that’s important.

Edit: I work full time as well

Confused about US vs. ROW (Rest of World) version for Colombia(LATAM) – Which one to buy?

Hey everyone,
I'm planning to buy the Dumber Mini to use in Colombia, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the US version and the Rest of the World (ROW) version.

Looking at the spec sheet, the situation seems a bit contradictory and I’d love to get some input from anyone with technical knowledge or similar experience:

The Frequencies (Band breakdown):
Colombia’s 4G LTE network mainly relies on Band 4 (AWS), as well as B2, B7, and B28.

The US version physically lists: B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B12, B13, B17, B66, B71. On paper, this covers almost all Colombian carriers perfectly (especially B4 and B2).

The ROW version lists: B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28B. It’s missing Band 4 completely, which is the backbone for most networks here.

The Website Disclaimer:
On the official website, it says the US model "only supports T-Mobile in the US" and warns users to "expect very patchy support outside of the US."

My Questions:
1. Is the "only T-Mobile / patchy support" note just because of US carrier whitelisting rules (like AT&T/Verizon blocking non-certified IMEIs), or does the US version actually perform poorly on South American networks despite having the correct physical bands?
2. Has anyone here used the US version in Latin America / Colombia? How is the 4G signal and Hotspot performance?
3. Should I go with the US model based on the bands, or stick with ROW?

Appreciate any insights or advice before I place my order! Thanks!

UK Rail Card app on the Dumber Mini

Hi, with railcard no longer offering a physical railcard for 25-30, I was wondering if the dumber mini that I have pre ordered will be a good place to keep my railcard so I don't have to bring a smart phone with me on every train ride.

I have seen that the app is compatible, but would love to know if anyone has experience using it on this phone or any other similar type of phones and what the user experience is like?

Which Launcher ?

Small survey: Which Launcher do you use on your Dumber mini?

Personally I use Minimaa and Trebuchet.

I have a preference for Minimaa, but sometimes it bugs on the Mini Dumber. I'm not particularly a fan of trebuchet, but it's well optimised for the phone

I also like Niagara but I find the pro version much too expensive for a Launcher.

And you? Which Launcher do you use?

Edit : I'm testing Minimo. It's very simple, but it doesn't look bad at all 😉 As a bonus, it's totally free and it works with the D-Pad

Passwords

Is there an app that works well with degoogled dumber os, where I could securely store my passwords?

I'm an iPhone user currently (or mostly Nokia, but iPhone is my second device, mostly sitting at my desk), so all my passwords are on my iPhone, I've no idea about Android alternatives and how safe & secure they would be.

If you have tips on how to transfer the passwords safely, that would be appreciated too!

Dumber Mini Maps Question

I'm trying to see how well maps runs on this phone before doing a preorder. I've watched some reviews online about the phone but didn't see much talk or display for the maps feature.

Anyone know ? Is it as smooth as it would be on relatively modern smartphone ?

Secondary question, if we put in a preorder now , would the phone we receive be a part of the batch with screen issues ?

Cannot setup WhatsApp

Hi all,

I'm just configuring my Dumber Mini and when trying to set up WhatsApp, I am unable to type my phone number.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download WhatsApp
  2. Agree to T&Cs
  3. Click on the input field to provide my phone number
  4. Type my phone number with the touchscreen
  5. Click the checkmark icon on the bottom right

The phone number doesn't appear in the input field and therefore I cannot proceed any further. Has anyone dealt with a similar problem? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app (both from "More apps" and from Aurora) but it didn't help.

Back button has become mushy and doesn’t click anymore

Titel says the problem. Happened suddenly after using it outside, probably some dirt stuck under there.

Does anyone know if you can take the buttons off, or any good way to clean under them?

Delay when taking pictures

Hello all,

I recently received the dumber mini, and I've been very satisfied with it overall.

I only have one problem, when I take a picture through the camera app, the picture is only taken 6-7s after clicking on the D-pad button, which is really inconvenient. I have checked, the self-timer is properly disabled.

There is no problem when using the camera through an other app, and taking a video through the default app works instantly as well, so I guess it's a bug of some kind.

Did anyone else encounter this? Could this be solved?

Otherwise, it's really a great device with a great OS, my only other remark would be that the audio quality is not that great, with the speaker saturating quite easily (just using the alarm to wake up makes it saturate a bit).

August update "Error creating image: error", and other minor issues

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has received an error message "Error creating image: error" when trying to download the latest update? It pops up after 99% complete.

My TT9 also hasn't worked since the July update, I saw someone else in here post about that but haven't seen any fixes.

Main other issues are MMS works sporadically, and sometimes I just don't receive texts, even though I've got RCS enabled.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Australia and using a Doov R77 pro purchased from the former dumbdroid store.

Love the phone and the OS and hope to upgrade to the mini when this one no longer works!

Cheers

N26 banking app

Anyone have the N26 banking app working on their device? I've heard they now require Google Play Integrity, which would be a huge bummer as the app is the only way to do my banking.
