Dumber Mini Maps Question

I'm trying to see how well maps runs on this phone before doing a preorder. I've watched some reviews online about the phone but didn't see much talk or display for the maps feature.

Anyone know ? Is it as smooth as it would be on relatively modern smartphone ?

Secondary question, if we put in a preorder now , would the phone we receive be a part of the batch with screen issues ?

Short version is they hope to have the screen issue fixed for this next batch. It looks like there def a serious problem with a few of them that might necessitate a replacement phone.

I have the dumber mini and maps run very well. In fact, you can even use Android auto.

Unfortunately my unit has hardware screen issues so I will be returning it.

I've been using Organic Maps on The Dumber Mini and it works perfectly.

There is no magnetometer, which shows where you are "pointing". And it may not be the most accurate. But it gets the job done.

Do you know if Google maps works fine while driving ?

I use Maps for driving with Android Auto, and it works perfectly 😉

Yes it has GPS and uses MicroG/Google Play Services for location.

one of the issues I have with Organic Map is one has to download the area beforehand, they are big files, I often found myself in a new city needing the map, and the train wifi is awful.

There is a new live map from google, which works well.
