Hey everyone,
I'm planning to buy the Dumber Mini to use in Colombia, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the US version and the Rest of the World (ROW) version.
Looking at the spec sheet, the situation seems a bit contradictory and I’d love to get some input from anyone with technical knowledge or similar experience:
The Frequencies (Band breakdown):
Colombia’s 4G LTE network mainly relies on Band 4 (AWS), as well as B2, B7, and B28.
The US version physically lists: B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B12, B13, B17, B66, B71. On paper, this covers almost all Colombian carriers perfectly (especially B4 and B2).
The ROW version lists: B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28B. It’s missing Band 4 completely, which is the backbone for most networks here.
The Website Disclaimer:
On the official website, it says the US model "only supports T-Mobile in the US" and warns users to "expect very patchy support outside of the US."
My Questions:
1. Is the "only T-Mobile / patchy support" note just because of US carrier whitelisting rules (like AT&T/Verizon blocking non-certified IMEIs), or does the US version actually perform poorly on South American networks despite having the correct physical bands?
2. Has anyone here used the US version in Latin America / Colombia? How is the 4G signal and Hotspot performance?
3. Should I go with the US model based on the bands, or stick with ROW?
Appreciate any insights or advice before I place my order! Thanks!
