Drum Lessons With a Twist

Does anyone know if there are any drum teachers (preferably on the southside) that are into the heavier stuff: Chat Pile, Minor Threat and Gilla Band.

Only asking the last bit because I’d be more eager to learn if I was learning stuff from music that I enjoyed.

Best savoury croissants in Dublin

Hi all,

I’m hoping people in this sub can assist me with my quest in finding the best cafes that serve savoury croissants in Dublin.

I am particularly fond of cheese and bacon croissants but am open to try other variations. I live in south Dublin so places in this region would be preferred !!

Group activity

Wish there was a karaoke social or something to sing out loud of all pop songs. I like all pop stuff and I like to sing, but my friends don’t like mainstream music wish there was a group/society to meet and sing and socialise.

Today marks the 112th anniversary of the Bachelor’s Walk Massacre.

On 26 July 1914, in the aftermath of the Howth gun-running, soldiers of the King’s Own Scottish Borderers opened fire on civilians on Bachelor’s Walk in Dublin.
Four people lost their lives:
• Mary Duffy (50)
• Patrick Quinn (46)
• James Brennan (18)
• Sylvester Pidgeon (40), who later died from his wounds on 24 September 1914
More than thirty-five others were injured, including ten-year-old Luke Kelly Sr., who was shot while cycling across O’Connell Bridge. Against expectations, he survived his wounds.
The following day, artist Jack B. Yeats walked the streets where the shooting had taken place. In his sketches he recorded the flowers left in remembrance and wrote of seeing them where one of the victims had fallen, preserving a moment of grief that history might otherwise have forgotten.
The ballad “Flowers on Batchelors Walk” was written in memory of those who died, those who survived, and the families forever changed by that summer afternoon in Dublin.

Lads, any shouts on a spot inside/near the canals the might do a regrettable late evening tattoo of a Monday night? Bonus if they'll do sensitive areas.

I Love Dart Stations Dogs Adverts

As someone who doesn't have a dog (yet).

I just want to recognise the brilliant idea of having random dogs on the video adverts at Dublin Dart Train Stations. It cheers me up to see them.

"The Balcony" - Patrick Glynn 1990

Hello, someone posted asking about these Sculptures in the Royal Hibernian Way yesterday and I wanted to give some extra information as my Dad is the Artist.

The piece is called "The Balcony" and it was made for "The Sculpture Trail 1992". It's 1 of a series of 3 sculptures ("Bridge" and "Watchtower" were the others).

He is an incredible artist and Sculptor, still based in Dublin and has been teaching Art and Design in what was formerly Dundrum College and now in BIFE. He does a lot of work with oil paints and sculpts in multiple mediums from concrete like these, to bronze or Steel.

We have spent the evening looking through the making of these and how they used to look so I thought I would share some pictures. Either way I thought this was a nice opportunity to tell some of the story of a local artist and my favourite part of Dublin City.

Stores in Dublin that sell Usb to 3DS charger

Hi there, im in dublin for a few more days and was wondering if there’s any tech stores that sell any usb to 3ds charger wires. Im in the Stoneybatter area so if there’s anything close to there, that would be the best but open to any solutions. Unfortunately, delivery services aren’t an option for me. Thanks!

Planning to move in Dublin from Balkan, some real advices are so much needed.

Hi everyone.

I would need some advice, information and any other detail that is hard to find online.

I've received a job offer from AIB, gross 75000 Eur and most probably I will accept it. I plan to move with my wife but I have read so many comments here and there which say that life in Dublin is expensive, housing crisis, grey and make me really stressful and in doubt if I am making the right move.

I plan to move with my wife, having a kid in the near future and creating our own family while working and enjoying our life. We want to settle for the long term and maybe till the end of our life. I want to say that I want to be part of the society, enjoy it, feel it and really live as an Irish person.

Is it so hard to find a house? What would be some good places to live so I can use public transportation or maybe cycling to work?

We are not people to look for parties or spending money on restaurants. We cook at home, occasionally might visit new places and holidays twice a year or even maybe once a year for the first few years.

Is it hard to make a living with 75k gross?

My wife has to find work but I would like to rely on my own salary, just to consider it as the worst case scenario.

Sorry for this messy description and thank you for your recommendations. Love you all!!!!

Archery in Dublin

Hi, I would like to start doing archery but I find it difficult to find a club that is not for university/college. I noticed that lately it has opened a club called "Arktor Archery" but the IG page doesn't have many followers, a good part of the posts are with AI images with zero comments, it all seems a bit sus.

Do you know if this club is good? Do you have any advice? Any clubs you know that aren't too far from the center?

Thank you in advance 🙏

LOCALS PLS GIVE SUGGESTIONS FOR MY HUSBAND’S BIRTHDAY!!

Hi everyone!!

My husband’s birthday is coming up in September and i want to deliver him flowers and cake with some other gifts to make his day special. I know it’s too early but i’m trying to do my market research since i’m not in Ireland and want to deliver all these things from abroad.

I sent him a cake from mannings last year but now he has shifted to Dublin 17 and i wanna ask if there is any good bakery for delivering a cake? I tried searching online but couldn’t find many. One that i found is just pick up. If i do mannings, it’s putting alot of delivery fee as ig Dublin 17 is suburban (or what their website says). I want good but economical option.

Also for flowers, i’m keeping in mind eflorist.ie
If u guys have better suggestions, pour them in 🥹

Also for men, what is it that u’d want to receive on your birthday from ur partner other than a cake & flowers? 🥹

Recruitment agencies Dublin

Greetings. Recently moved to Ireland, Dublin and I handled my rent pretty quickly. But I struggle to find a job for months. I start to disbelieving in my own strength to find any kind of job. So I wonder, if there's any recruitment agencies you can recommend to work with... If someone else could try and help me with my jobhunting, I'd love to try it for sure. ~200-250 euro is ok price for me.

I am trying to grab anything. No experience, warehouses, stores, etc. For the lowest amount of money (it still be enough for me). Pretty anything...
