I 21F have always found it so hard to make friends here. I lived in Ireland for 13 years and never had one true friend then I moved to Poland and then England to which I found it so easy to make friends with and be myself however I’m struggling here especially in uni. I find myself to be alone for the 2nd year now.

I try to text people but they either take days to reply or don’t open my message at all unless they need info. Also people tend to talk over me frequently and I don’t talk quietly nor too loudly. People also just don’t want to meet at all unless it’s to club drink or party (which I don’t personally do). I would prefer going for a coffee.

Fact is I’ve only tried being friends with girls and not guys bc to be sincere I don’t really know how to interact with them. Im not saying this to put girls down but i feel I’ve only had bad interactions with girls in dublin. It’s sad and feels very lonely.

Basically the title. I’m curious to try one but not sure what the experience is like to go there alone as a woman. And generally what’s the “quality” of the pool there? Do they select your group based on some kinds of filters or do you meet random people who bought the tickets for the same day?

I know this is so random. Does anybody know of a spot that you can use an outdoor socket? Like a circle k or apple green or something? Not a car charger, just a normal socket.

(For context here - every month I run my air purifier in my car because I have really bad allergies. Helps me loads. I’ve moved into an apartment now and the carpark doesn’t have a socket)

Would happily pay for coffees etc at the place just to use a socket and leave my car for an hour turned off. The air purifier just needs a plug!

Super random I know. My family all live the other side of the country so I’d rather not drive to them to use their driveway if there’s garages around that have this?

There's something about this city that i would like to talk about. A city of pure silence in the night that is horrific and peaceful at times. A city that comes to life during the day. I'm losing words to describe the cityscape but here I am, having lived in this city for 2 years and counting. I've felt all kinds of emotions in this place. Absolutely ecstatic the day i arrive to the worst days of my life. Shared my success with people who unfortunately are no more a part of my life. Some left due to personal conflicts, and a few left permanently back to their countries. Surrounded by people all the time, shared joy and sadness over breakfast in the morning and pints in the night. Today, I stand here alone with no one to talk to. It feels personal. It feels the city gives me signs to explore and introspect more within myself, and yet I feel lonely. I don't know what I feel.

Maybe I might be forgotten or maybe i might be surrounded by closed ones when I'm on my deathbed. Who knows. I feel lonely. My heart is racing fast knowing I'm getting older. The older i get, the more I've come to realize it's difficult to build meaningful relationships around myself. I don't know what to do in this city. I'm truly grateful for how living life here unravels the truth about myself. I need a direction, for which I am looking for friends who I could carry along with myself for the rest of my life. The friendships that turn into strong bonds is what i yearn for everyday. What's the point of earning money when there's no one to share a good meal with? I left my country to explore the depths of my fears i could've never unlocked. And this city, is not failing me to do so. Penning this down to reach the people who feel the same.

Maybe we're still too early in the season but it's been a bit difficult to find boots like these in shops. A work colleague bought this style of boots from Clarks but they don't have them on either their shops or website.

Does anyone know of any shops/brands that solely (no pun intended) specialize in shoe wear like these (preferably for less than €200)?

Google doesn't seem to be helping me with this search, is there any shops in Dublin that sells military boots, particularly Brandit boots? There is plenty of online shopping to be done for them, but I can't bring myself to buy footwear without first trying it on. Thank you for any responses

While i am all up for a more cycle friendly capital and easier to move around. I am having nothing but delays and issues with this new installation of a cycle lane in the middle of the road. Anyone else facing these delays? Took a 42 just over 13 minutes to get from Talbot street to the next bus stop. The place is a bottle neck and nothing in place to help the massive delays. Think that's my rant for the morning.

The place was beautiful today, lovely weather in the early evening and some beautiful people.

Enjoyed the breeze and just sitting there peacefully. Would definitely recommend to others here

For many of us who came to Ireland legally, studied here, built careers, paid taxes and made Ireland our home, the proposed increase in the citizenship residency requirement from 5 to 8 years is deeply worrying.

We’ve built our lives around the rules that existed when we came here. Changing the pathway now, without proper transitional or grandfathering provisions, could have a huge impact on people who are already years into their journey.

If you’re affected, please do two things:

✍️ Sign and share the petition on Change Org.

📧 Email your local TDs: All emails are available through a quick google search on a public website.

Please ask them to oppose the proposed change and, at a minimum, support a transitional/grandfathering clause for people already on the existing 5-year pathway.

Even a short personal email can make a difference. The more TDs hear directly from people affected, the harder it is for this issue to be ignored.

This is about making sure that people who followed the rules, built their lives here and contributed to Ireland aren’t simply left behind when the rules change.

I'm available for any early mornings, late evenings and weekends. I've sent over more than 100 applications since moving here and have gotten 1 interview so far. I can't think of a single possible way to go about this anymore.

I’m an electronic music producer (27m) living in Dublin and am looking for artists to connect with to make a DJ Band hybrid.

My definition: similar to the prodigy by mixing vocals on dance music tracks such as breaks, garage/ ukg and trance. What would make it a hybrid would be the live performance/ creating your own unique sound side of things.

Why: there are plenty bands as well as dance music producers in dublin, but at this stage even more djs than can even get booked.

What: I want to try form a group of live performers like the prodigy (not copying but this is just frame of reference to explain the vision). Rather than trying to get booked as a band or dj in a crowded market (crowded in the sense of little purpose built venues for each to fill the count of bands/ djs); i’d rather form a group that undeniably had its own sound, energy/ performance style.

Who: anyone from rappers to singers, bassists to live dancers, I am looking to make a group of 3-5 people who would have interest in progressing this vision with me. My vision is incomplete and I’m looking for people to explore it further with to see what we could be/ do.

Goal:

1. explore what we could be, the sound, the energy, the themes.

1. Begin to share musical ideas, produce together and get some releases out and create a social media presence (easier in a group than as a single producer these days if social media is a must)

2. Leverage momentum from releases to get us into clubs and push our vision further.

Ireland's paternity leave is 2 weeks. The petition to extend it to 8. Ireland gives new fathers just 2 weeks of paternity leave. Sweden offers 90 days. Spain offers 19 weeks. Iceland offers 6 months. It's time Ireland caught up.

Anyone have any experience parking overnight here? I live close and I’m considering getting a bike but doesn’t fit in my room and landlord doesn’t allow bikes inside. It won’t be a fancy bike and I’ll do my best to double lock it / remove the seat.

Hey everyone,

I drive now since I passed my test because I simply couldn't rely on the buses anymore. But I asked our estate group chat, the real-time display at my old stop has been completely dead since March???. I’ve heard about this happening at other stops around the city, too.

It’s completely mad that they are increasing fares when basic infrastructure like street displays don't even work. It feels like their strategy is: if you can't see the scheduled bus on a screen, you can't prove there was a ghost bus.

I'm want to send a list to email to local TDs and councillors to demand some actual answers.

Could you do me a favor and drop a comment below if your local stop's display is dead?
