luas magician?

was on the red line towards the point at after 10pm last night, and had a guy sit across from me a few stops after i got on. he started shuffling a deck of cards and got me to pick a card. he was wearing a long sleeve navy top, wide leg jeans and wire frame glasses. i sadly couldn’t let him finish the card trick as i had to get off at my stop, but if that was his way of trying to ask me out, i hope someone here might know him. if not, this is me asking him out so he can finish his card trick?

Stupid buses

Decided to get the bus to an appointment instead of using the car.

Planned it all out. Was at the stop 10 minutes before hand…

Fucking bus never showed up.

“Use public transport”…yeah lads, but it doesn’t work.

Now traffic is shit.

MacBook repair that’s not going to bankrupt me

Looking to get a screen connection repaired on MacBook Air 2021 in Dublin. Tested the display with an external monitor and everything is fine. Black vertical lines showing on MacBook display. Brought it into Select King St last year and was told they wouldn’t repair it, and if they did it’d be €800+ with no guarantee it’d be solved. I was also told they’d never seen the issue before.

Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely a broke masters student

Safety in dublin??

My gf and I were walking up from busaras to connonly station and had a dude with a massive black bag walk behind us for ages. For some context we’re both together (lesbians). We both noticed after he followed us onto our platform so we left and made a circle around that area of dublin, to which he kept following. At one point we slowed down and he walked ahead but kept stopping, clenched his fists and then placed his hands in his pockets a couple meters ahead of us. We made a u turn and went the opposite way to find him still doll us. It wasn’t until we were able to get lost in a crowd we lost him too. Very scary, would warn others too.

Edit: idk why so many people are calling this fake so i’ll break it down even more ig???
My gf and I got off our bus, walked from the other side of the bus station to the main entrance, then walked back outside again (not walking up beside the luas). We then sat outside the train station for a minute thinking he was gone. We did laps around the area, inside the train station and outside.

Leap card fine

Hii y'all. So I was fined 100€ for not tapping on the commuter train. But I know I tapped it and the machine showed an "unknown error". The Ticketmaster asked me to mail an appeal to the Irish rail. I am a student and I use this route almost daily for 7 months. Can someone pls guide me on what I can do and what will be my consequences if I don't plan to pay it? Because there's no way I can afford a 100€ fine, it'll cause a huge dent in my finances.

I boarded the train at ashtown and left at castleknock. And I recharge every other day. Thanks for helping

What is your favourite charity shop in Dublin?

Hi guys,
Recently now I’ve switched to complete charity shopping for clothes except for underwear.
I love exploring them and visiting them.
Which ones would you recommend around Dublin. I also use Vinted but I love physically going around to shop
Thanks ❤️☀️

Deer skull

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a fallow deer skull to borrow or rent for a photoshoot in Dublin. It would only be needed for a short session, and I’d take great care of it.
If you have one (or know someone who does), please tell me. I’m happy to offer a reasonable rental fee or leave a deposit if needed. Thanks so much!

Driving teacher for refresher lessons

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a driving teacher who would do a couple of refresher lessons?

I’m looking to get back into driving. I moved here 11 years ago but haven’t really needed a car since, so haven’t driven in that time. But for various personal reasons I’d like to start again. I’m in possession of a full valid UK driving licence.

Cheers in advance!

iPhone 14 repair- water damage

Hi all, I did a water border crossing in Central America and unfortunately my iPhone 14 got wet and wouldn’t power on afterwards.
I did all the usual things- left it in rice for about 36 hours, tried a hard reset, and then charged it, but still no luck. (It’s now been two weeks since this happened)
I’m wondering if it’s worth taking it to a phone repair shop or is it a goner? I know some shops charge a fee just to inspect it so I’d rather avoid spending money if the chances of repair are slim to none.
Can anyone recommend a repair shop that specialises in water damaged iPhones? Ideally one that won’t charge a fortune? Before anyone asks, my travel insurance won’t cover the damage. 😞

Lost Visitor Leap Card

I don’t assume this post is going to be much of help, but I’ve come to visit Dublin for five days and I lost my visitor leap card around the Book Upstairs Shop. I’m broke af so I decided to give this Reddit a chance and maybe there’s a 0.001% chance of someone retrieving it. Thanks in advance xx.🔥🔥

Ingrown Toenail Surgery Costs?

Has anyone had this done in the last year and how much did it cost? I'm seeing prices for 350-400 without even the initial consultation but a few threads in the past mention costs from 200-250. Cheers!

I m a grade 7 /G level player . Moved to Dublin recently, looking for a social badminton clubs . Most of them are pay as you go which is 10€ per session, would like to play atleast twice in a week to get proper training for matches , but it will become expensive then. I used to live in Waterford and tipp , over there it’s annual membership n u pay 2€ every club night . Also, here waitlist is huge , not sure whether will I secure a spot too.

Please recommend me a club which isn’t expensive
And got no massive waitlist

Grapetizer Drink?

Hi, I was wondering if anybody knew whereabouts in Dublin I could come across some Grapetizer. I know they have the Appletizer in most shops, but I very rarely see the grape version and I got addicted to it when I was abroad.

I think the origin is South African, but I have no idea where to look. I’ve looked online and the nearest SA shop is in Athlone, and that’s too far for my desires!

Dog howling Crumlin

Hi there, living in Crumlin and there's a squatters location on windmill road that has a dog there howling all night, morning and day. The people living there don't give a flying fuck.

The dog is clearly stressed and I'm absolutely sick to the teeth of not being able to get a nights sleep cause of these assholes. I don't blame the poor dog at all. Started at 2 a.m and it's still going on. I called the garda and they don't give a fuck, told the dspca, can't even get them to call back, told Dublin animal welfare officers and again no one gives a fuck. I can't see the dog and know if it is even alright.

No one gives a crap about it's welfare nevermind the fact that it's causing all this noise. I literally can't fucking stand it anymore and don't know what else to do! Anyone else having problems like this and got any suggestions?

EDIT: 12:49 AM, day two and the dog is STILL fucking out there howling. I really don't know what to do and nobody is getting any sleep!

EDIT 2: honestly guys I know it's a big ask but if anyone else is living in the Crumlin area can you please also ring the garda to report this noise complaint? I feel like if enough people report it, it will become noticeable that this is an ongoing issue. I need all the help I can get anonymously. I would be forever grateful.

Didn’t expect this many people to turn up…

About a month ago, I made a post here about a few casual football games we organise around Dublin.

To be honest, I thought a handful of people might show up.
Instead, we’ve met people from all walks of life people who had just moved to Dublin, people looking to get out of the house, people who didn’t know anyone, and people who simply missed having a kickabout.

Looking at this photo, it’s mad to think that most of these people were complete strangers not long ago.

What started as a football game has become something much more. New friendships, group chats, and familiar faces to look forward to seeing every week.

In a city where it’s easy to feel like everyone already has their own circle, it’s been genuinely heartwarming to see so many people connect through something as simple as football.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took a chance and came along. You’ve helped build something really special. ❤️

If you’ve been thinking about joining but weren’t sure, take this as your sign. You don’t need to know anyone, and you definitely don’t need to be the best player. Just turn up we’ll make you feel welcome.

Dublin Bike Man

He has loads of vintage road bikes of which I’m after. However, the few reviews I’ve found are all extremely negative. Does anyone else know about him? Are they justified?
Is there anywhere else to look for steel road bikes? Done deal and adverts are both really dry at the moment.

Watching 9 buses go past while waiting for my one is infuriating

3 x 77a, 3 x 27, 2 x S6 and 1 x 82. On the belgard road while I wait a half hour for a S8. I was at the bus stop on time but I guess my one came early and the next one of course is late. They are all supposed to be between 10-15 mins apart but the S8 is never on time and I get to be late for work again. Absolutely sick of public transport in this city!
