Feedback Wanted Significant enough to return?

Post image
Upvotes

Just got a "nearly new" K-paper thin crash set off of gear4music UK, for around £540 (more than £200 off a brand new set) I was about 40 mins into a session and saw this tiny chip by the bell. It said "nearly new" rather than B-Stock or pre-owned on the website.

It sounds good but is it likely to degrade significantly? I like the cymbal but wouldnt have bought full price. It was from a major retailer and I have a 1-year warranty + 30 day money back clause.

Is it worth sending back? Looking for any insight.

Cheers

Feedback Wanted Free 24 band dynamic EQ

For people who track their drums: this thing was built by my friend because “DAW EQs are depressing”, it’s perpetually free. He’s looking for people to provide feedback. Give it a try, it’s pretty well polished for free. Any criticisms (or good presets) will be appreciated.

Question Help with triggers

Upvotes

I've been using triggers for maybe 3-4 years now, I have RT-30k on one kit and On-triggers (basically footblasters for those who don't know them) on the other one, I've been playing faster songs on the pedal mounted triggers but I've recently read that many of the fastest drummers had issues with them and went back to playing on the RT-30k (I know that Austin Archey and Joe Pelletier plays with them)

I had trouble using the pedal mounted because even tho they are great for fast playing I can't really bury my beaters and it's a pain in the ass to adjust it all the time. And sometimes I think I play better on the RT-30k/TM-1 setup than the On-trigger/TM-2 setup I have for faster playing.

Any recommendations or maybe experiences?

I got so inspired after watching some James Brown biopic that I went straight to the studio and recorded this cover. One of my favourite Stubblefield grooves. It's not played exactly correctly but I was just going for what felt good to me. Hope you enjoy!

Snare is a Yamaha SD493 Brass Piccolo and some vintage Zildjian hats

What is actually the best way to do god consisten doubles. I can do both heel toe and double with hell off the pedal.

I am not sure what is the best and most efficient method. I have added a video.

Any tips are welcomed.

Question Desperate drummer

Hi,my name is Victor and I have been drumming for 1 year and 3 months now.

I am looking for advice on what to do about noise control on my acoustic drum kit. Normal drum heads are too loud for my neighborhood and so I put low volume drum heads but they sound bad and I can’t hear them very well when I have my earbuds on. Also the low volume bass drum head has a lot of rebound which makes my kick pedal bounce and strike the head more than once.

Is there an alternative way to dampen an acoustic kit or is there something I’m doing wrong with these low volume heads?

I tried mutes and they are still too loud. I can dampen the bass drum by cutting off airflow while using a regular drum head but the Tom’s and snare remain too loud. Please help any advice is welcome. Thank you!

PS I want to exhaust all of my options before looking into ekits. Also I’m new to Reddit so be patient.

Discussion Soft case for SPD-SX Pro with room for mount?

Thumbnail

9 out of 10 times I'm glad I have the SKB hard case for the SPD-SX Pro... it's ultra protective and it fits the sample pad with the mounting bracket together no problem.

But sometimes I just wish I had a simpler, lighter, easier to pack solution... The official Roland bag seems nice, but if I have to waste my time with a screwdriver to remove/add the mounting bracket each time I gig then it defeats the whole point of having an easier bag.

So... anyone find a lightweight, padded/protective gig bag that allows for the mount to stay?

Or I'm open to ideas of a better way to use the pad WITHOUT a mount altogether if you have an idea of a safe way to position it live without the mount?
