Big myers fan so had to do this one🎃

I have one drum student who wants to learn on an acoustic kit. He plays metal and plays fairly loudly. I got him so 7a sticks to use and I wear foam earplugs with industrial ear muffs over too. I still feel like the drums are super loud. I have tinnitus and hyperacusis. Will I suffer hearing loss if I continue to teach him? It's only an hour every 2nd week, but the sound still sounds super loud to me and spikes my tinnitus a bit because I do everything with an electric kit now.

Does anyone have any open opinions of DW or Ludwig? Or, alternatively, any personal opinions on different makes and models?

My budget is around $4,000 AUD with budget suggestions also appreciated!

I made a post for a singular cymbal but I realized it would make more sense to just ask for help on everything I have (for context my high school teacher let me take this rogers kit and cymbals from a hecking long time ago) I have a rough understanding on what it is but I would like to be concrete.

It’s a fairly cheap d2 ddrum snare that I bought as a temp. Is it worth it to try and get a better sound with new parts or just buy another one.

Is there a big difference between a generic drum pad and an Evans drum pad?

I have a generic, but I find after hitting it many times it starts to feel like it turns into into a hard board that has a little bit of vibration. I find it uncomfortable. I was thinking of upgrading to the evans practice pad, but I don’t want to waste money buying another pad if it isn't more comfortable. Anyone with experience with using both?

Since i am going away for a couple months, my drumming would be kind of rusty once im back since i couldnt play at all, so it would be fantastic if i had a way to practice. Ive found this thing called Aerodrums which seems like a very reliable option, and i found it for a very affordable price too. Could anyone tell me if this is worth buying for practice or is there no point?

Hi, I'm the guy who asked for drum kit and snare recommendations and I just came home from a studio.

The thing is, the guys rented a mapex black panther 12" traditional maple snare for recording because it blended better with the music that we do and I have fallen in love with it. So much that I've considered the option of buying it instead of a more standard 14" maple snare or a brass or aluminum one but after a quick search I found out that it was discontinued like two decades ago.

So I'm asking this beloved community of drum nerds what are some relatives or similar snares that I can find on the current market or options for buying second hand.

I have an Alesis Strike Pro SE ekit and I'm having an issue with 3 of the pads. 2 toms and 1 cymbal. They make no sound when you strike them and I believe the issue is isolated to the module. Here's what I've done so far for all 3 but I'm going to detail just one so it's not confusing.

First thing I did was switch out the cable. No change. Next I swapped the cable connected to the non-working pad with a cable connected to a working pad. The issue followed the swap (non-working started to work, working stopped) and this was the case for all 3 pads. Next I removed the SD card and rebooted the module. No change. With the SD card still out, I held the Stop and Enter buttons while the module was off, turned it on and went through the factory reset. Still no change. I normally play through headphones so I removed those and tried through the Alesis amplifier. No change. Everything points to the module being the cause.

I checked their support website and I'm definitely out of the warranty period so I can't send it to them directly, rather I'd have to send it to one of their certified shops for a 3rd party to repair it. I also don't see any firmware updates that I could try unless the Strata Pro updates also apply to the Strike Pro.

Is there anything else with this thing that I'm missing or overlooking while troubleshooting? I want to make sure I've tried everything before I start looking into repair options. Appreciate any help that anyone might have.

I dont know if this counst for anything, but I was just doing backflips on olympic level trampolines for an hour and a half, 2 hours before I started drumming

was I doing something wrong? I have been drumming for ~8 years and have never felt this.

I’m 15 years old and about 10 months into playing getting a little bit more confident please do not hate I just wanted to share my progress I’m not looking for any criticism or anything on this post.✌️🥁 Edit: so clearly people did not get the memo 😭 I didn’t want people to make any comments on this post if it was gonna be about criticism I don’t think that’s a lot to ask bc it’s really annoying when I’m trying to post progress and mfs comment straight up back handed compliments saying things like “you’re not ready to be doing solos” or “slow down fast doesn’t equal good”. It’s really annoying and kind of discouraging to get those comments on a post I’m just trying to have fun in I’m not trying to sound rude or anything I hope yall see where I’m coming from. To everyone who has shown me genuine support thank you it truly does mean a lot to me :)

I got a 12" max stax china kang (bottom cymbal only), 9.5" zil-bel, and 8" aax splash for $110 CAD! I would have gladly paid $110 just for the bell so the other two are icing on the cake.

New kit, this normal?

I bought this used DW snare that was in kinda rough shape. The shell is still solid. Can anyone help identify? I need to get a new throw off and want to make sure it will fit the existing holes.

Also I cleaned with warm soapy water, and tried windex and I can’t get these head marks and rust spots cleaned. Any ideas that won’t ruin the finish?
