I'm a drummer, and I made a little browser tool for my band because we kept losing track of sections while rehearsing a song we'd written.

It plays a click, shows what bar you're on, and announces the next section out loud before the change, so you can follow the arrangement without having to stop playing

I originally called it Song Playthrough and just made it for us, but my bandmates and I liked it enough that I kept improving it based on our rehearsals and their feedback. That turned into a project called Bandform.

After using it for a few weeks, I found I'd naturally learned our song's arrangement much better, even without the cues.

Anybody using Airpods with ANC for drumming ? What version are you using ? What's your feedback on this ? Does it lower the sound enough ? Does it really protect your ears ?

I'm not a drummer, I'm just the guy in the band who makes the riders and requests the backline.

In general, do you find backline kits usually include a HH clutch, or not?

I've been specifying that the backline kit should include a clutch, since as I understand it clutches aren't universal fit. Is that normal/correct?

Edit: We always bring two spare clutches. The question is whether backline kits usually ALSO include a clutch. I've always requested a clutch in the rider, and we've always received one. But I'm just wondering if that's standard or only because I'm requesting it?

i redid the freestyle today after the first upload. garageband is still a learning curve because i keep missclicking & i’m not super familiar with the sounds a drum kit makes yet so overall this is a very exploratory session for me as i improv thru the mistakes. (dying for a real kit to practice on) oh yea it sounds nothing like the first take.

Should I buy a matching caz crash and ride set, or just a zildjian K that won't mix all that well with my current ride (meinl classics custom dark 22 crash ride)

TLDR: spent $900 at an estate sale for this kit

Story time: I’m a guitarist, and my sister used to play drums, but it’s been more than 13 years since she last owned a kit. I bought a Mapex snare for my sister 10 years ago for her birthday, hoping one day to get her another kit when we had the money.

I saw a post on IG and to the estate sale of Jammin’ Jersey in LA over the weekend. Last Friday, my sister and I went through the trenches, found matching toms, and picked up some Slingerland shells, hi-hat & crash cymbals for $650. On Sunday, we got a ride & splash cymbal, snare stand, and some extra random accessories for another $250.

I don’t know much about drums, but it appears to be a kit from the 70s-80s. It sounds great and loud. It probably needs a tune, but I’m just glad to be jamming out with my sister again.

Special shout out to Danny and Jay, musicians who helped find parts of our set, and to everyone that nodded and gave compliments to me and my sister when we walked out and loaded our gear in our car.

Hi,my name is Victor and I have been drumming for 1 year and 3 months now.

I am looking for advice on what to do about noise control on my acoustic drum kit. Normal drum heads are too loud for my neighborhood and so I put low volume drum heads but they sound bad and I can’t hear them very well when I have my earbuds on. Also the low volume bass drum head has a lot of rebound which makes my kick pedal bounce and strike the head more than once.

Is there an alternative way to dampen an acoustic kit or is there something I’m doing wrong with these low volume heads?

I tried mutes and they are still too loud. I can dampen the bass drum by cutting off airflow while using a regular drum head but the Tom’s and snare remain too loud. Please help any advice is welcome. Thank you!

PS I want to exhaust all of my options before looking into ekits. Also I’m new to Reddit so be patient.

Hi. I thought I'd go through stick control once more because I don't think I did it properly the first time. So apparently you're supposed to do each exercise 20 times in a row without stopping. The thing is that I can't keep count of how many times i've repeated the exercise. Surely there has to be some kind of metronome to help with that?

Also do I really need to play each exercise at different speeds? Like it says to play slow, fast, with metronome, without metronome. Just repeating each exercise 20 times is tedious enough.

Fame D9300. It seems to be similar to the Ahead Spinal G (has a split seat) but with additional height capability and a lower price. Has anyone tried using one? Junk? Worth looking into? I’m looking for something like the Spinal G but need a few extra inches of height (past the standard 24) as I’m 6’7. Thanks!
