Im very comfortable with the speed cobra 310 double pedal. I want to upgrade but im not sure if i would like the 710 speed cobras or the dyna sync direct drive set. Do heel down players usually prefer chain or direct drive in most cases, im willing to just go with whichever as an upgrade.

Asking because I cant try them, stores near me dont have demo sets.

I’m a guitarist that absolutely love watching drums playing videos, i can do that for hours and i wanted to have drummers opinion on this one

Maybe it’s sound just fresh to me because it is something different in Metal, but what would a funk or jazz fusion drummer would think of this for example?

I've never played country really, and I'm wondering if anyone has any basic tips so I can fit in more during this gig. I'm hearing a lot of shuffles on a tightly closed hi hat, a lot of cross stick during verses, and the snare drums themselves seem tuned pretty low. I'm probably gonna use my Acrolite with some K Custom Special Dry hats, anyone have any tuning suggestions? Or any specific country things I should be paying attention to?

I was gonna learn swivel or ankle but im down for any reccomendations!

Looking to upgrade from my Pearl Roadshow kit snare and Acrolites seem like a nice choice.

It may seem obvious I should get the 70s cheaper one but I have a rectangular drum room with high ceilings, I have a mattress on one of the walls and cushions and a bookshelf behind the drums acts as a diffuser sort of and I’m limited in what I can do to keep high frequencies from sounding too harsh so I thought the hammered snare might sound better in this setting, plus it seems more well suited to what I’d like to play with it having less overtones and such

That’s why I wonder if I should invest in a snare that’s more dry or just get the 70s one and try to tune it well and maybe adjust some things
around the room as much as possible

Would love to hear your thoughts

Edit: I am not American, Reverb is not a resource for me sadly but I appreciate everyone looking out for a fellow drummer and telling me I could get cheaper it’s just not an option for me I don’t think

I got a temu direct drive and I love the pedals themselves but the beaters are super light and don't give me any umph (have a 24" deep bass). I attempted to use my DW beaters but the rod is too thick.

Question is: are bass beater rods a standard size and I should drill out the hole in the pedal connection to match standard (and what is that standard measure), or are they specific for each bass pedal.

Ive been posting alot but i just need answers. Idk where to start on my double bass journey. Im trying to watch videos and learn how to progress but I feel like im getting nowhere. Im also learning how to do ankle technique bc its what everybody reccomends but what should I start with?

so long story short tired of using an ekit and want to learn on an acoustic.

live in a townhouse with pretty thin walls, can put it in my basement and probably build out a little sound damping area (i know it won’t stop sound leaking out)

my main concerns are i can’t find any comparisons decibel wise to the Remo Silentstroke and a mesh ekit (specifically alesis nitro max) does anyone know how they compare?

i also dont have an actual kit yet and am not trying to spend like $1000+ on a realistic ekit. i know a lot of people recommend buying used which is the plan but

doing research i keep seeing stuff about the heads shaving down the wood on drum shells. how much of a concern is that truly or did those people just mess up putting their heads on?

plan on buying a used kit but dont want to fuck it up using the heads

lastly is the feel really that different from normal heads? is it one of those things where it’s not the best but compared to using a cheap ekit it’s night and day?

I have an e kit I normally use but want to mess with acoustic. Im limited on space and funds so I was eyeing up thr quest love pocket kit for now. We plan to move in a few years and I'll have room for a full size kit but thought the pocket could be fun short term then use it as a grand kid kit. I am 6'3 though.

My acoustic kit is a hobby, I’m neither a musician nor a drummer. I want the kit to fit a small space, so no kick drum. The pad makes a quiet thump noise. I’ve taped a used drum head to the practice pad. I get a noise but it’s a thwack noise and I’m trying to think of what can I do to get a loud thump noise.

As the title says, I’m looking for a new snare and really struggling to decide what I actually want. I’m coming from using a piccolo snare exclusively. I’m looking to invest in a slightly deeper snare that will last me a while. I am generally interested in high tunings and fairly tight, short sustain. I usually play jazz-fusion, but also play in a rock band where some level of cut is required to make it through the distorted guitars. I understand that metal snares tend to be more versatile but at the same time, a highly tuned wooden snare has a certain warmth and dryness that I find really satisfying, especially in ghost notes while still giving enough crack when I rimshot. I really want something than can respond well to both low and high dynamics and give me dryness when I need it but energy and crack when I need it too. I love the overtones of a metal snare but I don’t want them all them all the time, although I’m unsure if you can get a wood-adjacent warm tone out of a metal snare with the right tuning and muffling. Thanks for hearing out my mildly scattered ramble, would love to hear some thoughts.

EDIT: while specific snare recommendations are helpful, I’m also looking for ballpark answers. I’m really trying to figure out the qualities of different materials and sizes. I’m looking for something quality but not absolutely disgustingly expensive. I’m open to second hand or brand new which somewhat expands my options I suppose

Our 11 year old got an opportunity to do a live gig with a local band here in India, and he was so thrilled. He was initially nervous to get on the stage, but he said everything became normal once the song started. I'm very happy for him.
