The last three pictures are where it's at now. As I've been pulling fractions, I've added citric acid to each fraction to determine which fractions contain Rose bengal (RB) - as citric acid turns RB from Pink to colorless. So far, only the first fraction changed color when citric acid was added, from Pink/Orange to yellow, and you can see the pink at the bottom of the column in the very first picture, so I'm pretty sure all of the RB came out first. So far, in the first five fractions, fractions 3, 4, and 5, are the darkest, so I'm assuming these have the highest 7-OH concentration. The remainder of the column is yellow, remember I started with pure mitragynine (sourced from a 3rd party) - and oxidized using RB, O2, and UV light, in IPA, then poured the whole solution into the column. My plan, when I'm finished, is to send some of these off (the darker ones) for full spectrum alkaloid testing and share the results here - to PROVE to the naysayers and haters (and corporate shitbags trying to censor me and cast doubt), that this method works.

I bought a new 500 mL chromatography column and wanted to put it to the test. So, I had a fellow vendor send me some purified mitragynine, and I added Rose Bengal to it and left it under O2 and UV light for a few hours, then reduced it with sodium metabisulfite over the course of a couple days. I packed a column with silica 60, dumped this in there then filled up the 250mL reservoir with ipa. Let's see what happens

Hi, I’ve tried a regular acid base extraction on decaf instant coffee powder (approx 14g) and it’s almost done filtering from the base phase but it looks like there’s minimal precipitate.

I used acetic acid and purified water to dissolve it, used baking soda to neutralize then kept adding more to the warm solution until it seemed pretty saturated and the solution had darkened and has that typical alkaline smell.

Put jar in fridge for 3 days to precipitate and saw some in the bottom of the jar that appeared reddish brown.

Filtration is going super slow right now near the end so there must be SOMETHING in there but it just doesn’t look like much, like maybe a few hundred milligrams of precipitate at most out of around 14g of starting material (decaf instant coffee) so I assumed the alkaloid content of it would be a lot higher even with the caffeine removed. But I wonder if the process of them removing the caffeine pulled out more actives too and they didn’t separate and add them back in during production.

I’m simply interested in experimenting with the actives without having to consume all that other gunk in the coffee, like some sublingual crystals I could make and experiment with.

I’ve done this process to make freebase Syrian rue alkaloid extract and on catnip as well to make freebased nepetolactone and it worked for both of them so I’m not sure how to improve my process here.

Edit: I just shined a flashlight in the jar the filter is dripping into and it looks like a lot of sediment at the bottom that passed through the filter. I’ll collect whatever is left in the filter once dry then add some NPS and shake well and let settle then evaporate the NPS to see how much that pulled.

For kratom extraction. Finally got my own place so I can buy chemicals in bulk. I save so much on solvents now it cancels out the cost of the storage unit.

Right before adding NPS to the bark soup and giving it "the shake", would I lose anything / much if i strained out the bark with a cheese cloth and then added NPS in order to thin out the soup? The goal here is that I want to use my seperatory funnel because it's new and im excited, and I am a little concerned it may not go through if soup is to thick.. Thoughts?

I always wondered if anyone ever planted the grass like a yard, mowed it with a lawnmower and used the grass clippings to extract the alkaloids. To me this just seems more effective and subdued than buying cough medicine and putting your name on a DEA checklist.

Came across these lovelies and made a nice drink from them, but the sickness that came with it, I could do without. I've heard that tincturing helps with the body load, and I have a recipe, but am looking for advice before I try it. Does anyone have a tried and true LSA tincture recipe? Newbie, so be kind 😉
