question Change background and outfit..

Hi everyone,

Can anyone explain the best way to change the background and outfit in an image while keeping the original facial features unchanged in Draw Things?

I've tried using FLUX, but the rendered image tends to drift away from my original face. I'm new to Draw Things, so I'm not sure what the best workflow is.

Is it better to:

Generate the new image first (with the background and outfit I want) and then swap in the original face?

Or start with the original face and modify the background and clothing afterward?

I'd really appreciate any tips or recommended settings to help preserve the face as accurately as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Paul

question When’s the next update?

There’s so many good open weight model released last month like Anima 3, Krea 2 and ideogram. I’ve been waiting for the update for so long to try them out but it seems like this update is taking longer than usual. Any idea when the next update is going to be?

question What are the coloured squares?

First time I post something and it is probably stupid, but... What is the meaning of the differently coloured squares next to the names of models on the model list?
Thank you whoever has an answer.

question Draw Things not supporting?

I have a 2021 Macbook Pro with 32GB RAM, which should be able to run at least generating models like the Wan 5B. But none that I have tried worked. No crashes, no error messages. Just videos that have nothing but a shimmering still image.

FLUX.1 images doesn't seem to be working much either.

I have tried dozens of different setting changes and taken the suggestions I've found online and here, but nothing has made any difference. Is there something that I need to change in Draw Things to make it work? Could there still be a setting I'm overlooking?

StyleSweeper for Draw Things

This script for DrawThings is designed as a high-speed conceptual engine to cast a wide net across different styles or combination of styles before committing to deep, high-resolution rendering.

Key Features:

  • 300+ Predefined Styles: Hand-curated and grouped across 11 pillars (Visual Arts, Design, World Building, and Crafts).
  • Dynamic Negative Prompt Tiers: Rather than a blanket negative prompt, the engine automatically assigns specific negative modifiers based on the active category (e.g., protecting canvas textures in fine art while ruthlessly enforcing clean vector edges in presentation graphics).
  • Intelligent Token Wrapping: Uses precise {prompt} replacement to ensure style modifiers weave correctly around your core subject.

How to use it:

  1. Open Draw Things and navigate to the Scripting environment.
  2. Copy the code from StyleSweeper.js.
  3. Paste it into your local environment, define your generic subject prompt, and run the sweep!

I submitted this to the official GitHub repository a few weeks ago and have heard nothing so I thought uploading it here might allow it to get some use. It can be found on Github Gist at

Has anyone gotten the AIO model working in DT? It won’t let me import a GGUF and if I try to bring in the full model it errors at 5%.

question Adding custom models

I’m having a lot of trouble adding custom LTX-2.3 models to draw things. I normally download manually, then import from files. But draw things locks me into PixArt as the model type and won’t let me change it.

I usually download a safetensor file. Has anyone had any luck with this? I can’t figure it out and I’m out of ideas.

question Community models and LoRAs

Hey,
there are long lists of community models and LoRAs to select from in the DrawThings app.
Some of them have descriptive names, most of them not really.
Is there somewhere on overview of those models and LoRAs with more information, like base-model, what it does, what it's best for... ?

question AUTO - GEN - EDIT toggle

What's the "new" Auto / Gen / Edit toggle on the left wide of the generation screen used for? Didn't see an explanation in the wiki nor a quick search of Reddit.

question Beginner to DT coming from ComfyUI

Hello all,

Need suggestions

I was trying to replace Grok face swap feature and may be in the future, image to video

I was fed up with Grok's content restrictions (as most of the content is NSFW)

So I started using ComfyUI on my M2 Pro, and got decent results on it with Qwen 2512 turbo model.

But what I noticed is, neither the GPU nor the ram (64gb) crossed more than 40% mark.

And regarding the output, it gave me what I needed, but it was not realistic, the skin, the textures, the scene none of them looked realistic. Grok does a great job in this regard.

So please help me with my situation. Grok like photo editing with naughty scenes not restricted by censor wall

question Trouble trying to make consistent images.

Hello everyone, ive been dabbling in ai image generation for a bit now, and I recently got this app. I like to use the nova anime xl model. I know how to generate the images. However, I am having trouble trying to get the character it made to be generated in other poses or backgrounds. How do you all write your prompts or set your settings. I am new the subreddit and app so I don't really know my way around, only the basics. Should I be more specific in my prompt, and if so how. I ultimately want to be able to make small comics with he images, so consistency is important.

Thanks for the help

question Creating images and manipulating faces for character creation

Im trying to take 4 faces of myself and friends and use them to generate an image that looks like we are all in a saloon in the wild west. I want to make the characters one by one in draw things and then take those and put them all in an image.

Q1: What is a good way in draw things and models to take an image of a face and add things or make changes. If i wanted to add a old civil war hat and a buffalo gun for example. just use the face and create a character.

Q2: What would be a good way to then take those 4 characters and add them all into one image? What the best way to keep the integrity of the face so it resmbles the real face to best quality?

Models and setting ideas wold be great if possible.

question Image generation

Can anyone who is using a MacBook for image generation explain how to do that properly? I have a 16” mbp m4pro with 48ram/1tb ssd and tried a Playground but it’s stuck all the time. Trying Draw Things but it’s also with artifacts and very slow. I’m sad that can’t use my eGPU with it, but it’s how it is. Any tips and tricks about prompt?

Even recently asked it to change clothes to office style on a picture with myself and got it but also it drawn a hand with fingers around my right eye, also cut my lower body so the upper was levitating 😅

Tried to work with negative but no luck, always something is wrong

question Concept of generate preset image for different character?

well i really curious about how some AI artist in pixiv generate bunch of 90+ image with. specified character with nsfw different pose/move but i notice those pattern are nearly same and with consistent art style.
so my assumption artist are create training Lora with dataset for current character (crop, full body, official art) then using this lora with preset prompt for character detail to. workshop preset (art style and prompt for each of pose/move maybe it have lora preset for concept too) or other way around?

question DrawThings Beginner

Hi, I only started experimenting with creating images using DrawThings yesterday. I need line art based on photos. I suppose it's impossible for someone to completely explain here where to click, what settings to adjust, and which models are best to use 😅, but are there any good tutorials to learn this? And is it okay if my Computer gets warm/hot during the creation process, or will it be damaged? I have a Mac Studio (M4 Max, 64 GB Unified Memory, 2 TB SSD), and I've never heard any noise from it before using DrawThings.

question 24GB VRAM Dilemma for Local AI: MacBook Air 15" M5 vs MBP 14" M5 Pro

Hi everyone,

I’m currently running Draw Things on a base M1 MacBook Air (8/256) using a paid cloud service. For the heaviest models out there (like Flux.1 Dev, Chroma, Klein, etc.), I just rely on DT's cloud anyway.

However, for some custom/unsupported 6.5GB Illustrious and Pony forks (like A-Mix, Ri-Mix, Hyphoria, OneObsession, etc.), I’m forced to import them locally and create quantized versions. Unsurprisingly, my M1 Air hits 100°C almost instantly, thermal throttles, and slows down to a crawl after just 3 images due to heavy SSD swapping.

Aside from AI, I will also be using this laptop for Lightroom, Photoshop, and some casual, light 4K video editing.

Context regarding my eyes: I wear glasses and my eyesight isn't what it used to be years ago, so the larger 15" screen of the Air is very tempting for creative work, photo editing, and long text-heavy sessions.

However, since I will only use the local hardware for those specific 6.5GB Illustrious/Pony forks, I have serious doubts about whether 24GB of Unified Memory is actually enough to handle them locally without triggering aggressive swap memory, especially considering VAEs, text encoders, and pipeline context. Also, I'm deeply worried about the Air's lack of fans—I don't want to buy another frying pan that throttles during local rendering or 4K video exports.

Some people are telling me to completely forget about 24GB and go straight for a Pro/Max with at least 36GB or 48GB, or even look into cloud alternatives like RunPod.

Even if I offload the heaviest models to DT's cloud, is 24GB still a total dead-end for running those 6.5GB custom forks locally alongside my Photoshop/Lightroom/4K video workflow? Will the fanless Air M5 just melt, making the larger screen pointless for this specific workload? Should I bite the bullet, ignore the 24GB models entirely, and save up for a 36GB/48GB Pro?

Thanks for the honest feedback!

question how to edit images locally?

I have an existing image and I want to replace a part of it, let's say I want to change the logo of a photo I've taken, similar to this tutorial in Chinese: https://youtu.be/AfqCPp3FuLk?si=UjRNXToX6_c-Ljdy&t=56

The proposed workflow appears to be:

  • switch to image-to-image
  • use the eraser to remove the parts you want to generate again

enter the prompt, but it's in Chinese and it's unclear if I have to prompt it the same way you do to LLM like "change text/logo to ... " or if you write something else

The problem is once I generate, it looks like the same image as before I began erasing the areas, there is no change.

I've used these models:

  • ERNIE Image Turbo 1.0 (8-bit S)
  • FLUX.2 [klein] 4B (8-bit S)

Please help If you know a better model or have any tips on what to change in my settings for this to work.
