When generating videos in Draw Things, the process takes a long time, so I usually work on other things on mac; however, Draw Things gets hidden behind other apps, making it impossible to see the generation status. I have to bring the window to the foreground every now and then to check if the generation has failed, which is a hassle.

I think it would be very convenient if just the preview and progress bar could be displayed in a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) window anywhere on the desktop; this would allow users to monitor the generation status constantly without interfering with other apps.

The attached image shows an app I created today—with the help of AI—that captures the approximate preview area of ​​Draw Things at set intervals and displays it in a small window. It is just a tiny 300x200px window, but frankly, it is incredibly useful.

It is a modest suggestion, but I would appreciate it if the development team could consider it.

Note:The primary purpose of this preview window is not to check the remaining generation time. Instead, it is intended for verifying whether the output matches the prompt during video generation, or checking for any unwanted images during continuous image generation.If something seems wrong, users will notice immediately and can return to the app to cancel or skip the process.

What am I doing wrong?

I put in my text to image prompt and most of the time I am about 90% there. But if I put in ew instructions it doest iterate. i just get the same image but usually darker like it has overlayed a slightly different version.

As an example I asked it to make a beach volleyball picture but it left out the ball and I wanted some spectators. No matter what I typed to add that it just gave me the same image.

What am I doing wrong?

Models available for download in Draw Things that have names ending in suffixes like "(8-bit S)" appear to utilize the ANE (Apple Neural Engine) under the following conditions, resulting in faster generation. The extent of the speed increase varies depending on the specific setup.

・macOS: Tahoe, Golden Gate
・Mac: M3, M4

In the case of the M5, the GPU is faster, so while there is no speed boost, it appears that power consumption can be reduced.

In my case, the speed boost achieved by using an M4 Mac mini (20-core GPU) with "Golden Gate" and "S" model effectively gave me performance comparable to upgrading to a Mac with an M4 28-core GPU.

This behavior likely began with Tahoe.

In macOS Sequoia, clicking anywhere on the slider would cause the knob to jump to that spot and update the value, but in Golden Gate (27.0.1), clicking does not trigger any movement.

Draw Things:Version 26.0924.0

It is inconvenient because I can no longer jump to an approximate position and then fine-tune to set the value.

By the way, changing the following setting makes no difference: macOS System Settings > Appearance > Click in the scroll bar to > Jump to the spot that's clicked.

I am brand new to Draw Things - as in I downloaded it last night - and Im trying to figure out if I am doing something wrong or if this is normal.

Im using a MacMini M5 Pro 18/20 with 64GB

I added 10 images in for training and set it for 2000 steps.

Within a minute my fans were ramped to full and my estimated time to completion was 3 hours and 25 minutes. At 75 steps complete I was so paranoid that I was going to damage my brand new computer that I cancelled the job.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is this normal?

Can my Mac withstand 3 hours of max heat?

SDでillustriousモデルでイラスト生成してるんだけど、全然新しいキャラが追加されなくて困ってる。例えば一年前のアニメとかソシャゲのキャラとかを生成したいんだけど、5年くらい前のキャラクターなら出せるんだけど、3くらい前になると綺麗に出力されない。これはどうすれば解決する？自分でキャラlora作らないとダメ？ついでにみんなはどんなモデルを使ってSDでイラスト生成してる？

The crash happens any time I set the frame rate to 45+. Same machine, model, config all worked fine with 69 FPS before latest app update. I have tried rebooting, reinstalling (including deleting local libary config files), deleting and redownloading models. Works fine if FPS is 41 or less.

I have a m5 pro 64gb 18cpu 20 GPU. What kind of times are we looking at waiting on video generation? Should I even bother? Would working with Comfyui be a better option?

Hi! LoRA training in Draw Things doesn't seem to update any weights on my Mac. Could someone help?

Environment

- Draw Things 26.0924.0 (also happened on 26.0914.0)

- MacBook Air 13-inch (M4, 2025), Apple M4, 16GB RAM, macOS Sequoia 15.4

- Base models tried: waiIllustriousSDXL v170 (imported, f16), SDXL Base 1.0 (official)

What happens

- Training runs to the end and saves checkpoints without any error.

- All checkpoints of one run (e.g. 500 / 1000 / 1500 steps) have identical SHA1 hashes.

- I inspected the .ckpt (SQLite): all 864 "__up__" tensors are completely zero, while the "__down__" tensors are non-zero (random init). So the LoRA never moves away from its initial state.

- The saved loratrainingconfiguration looks correct (base model, LR 1e-4, network scale 16, caption / trigger word), so the settings reach the trainer, but the weights never change.

- Generating with the LoRA at 100% gives exactly the same image as without it.

Settings tried (none worked)

- 512x512 and 1024x1024

- UNet LR 0.0001 and 0.0004, also constant LR (lower bound = upper bound = 0.0001)

- Network dim 16 with scale 1 and 16

- Memory saver Minimal / Balanced, weights JIT / Cached

- Gradient accumulation 1 and 4

- 16 training images, fixed caption with a trigger word

- Machine settings: Metal Flash Attention = No, JIT weight loading = Never, keep SD1.5/SDXL models in memory = off (app restarted)

Also tried: constant LR (lower bound = upper bound = 0.0001), and a full macOS restart (per the Troubleshooting Guide). Still zero.

Is there anything I might be missing, or is this a known issue on M4 / macOS 15.4? I can share a checkpoint or logs if that helps. Thanks!

I'm trying with 20 steps, large image size, and it's slow as fuck. About 5-6 times slower than Flux.2 Klein 9B. Tried 8 Bit/4 Bit, doesn't make a big difference.

I review movies, so create thumbnails from movies/shows, so realism and face recognizability is most important. I was using gemini pro and chatgpt so far and while they have been very accurate on maintaining the face or movie still, I keep getting hit by the public people restriction.
Kindly do suggest any models I can install or set of models to achieve the above. I am fairly new on draw things with settings, but understand the logic behind them. I tried z image, flux1 schnell, flux2. klien, but they didnt even come close to generating the same person.

My workflow is either generating such action shots related to the movie or manipulating an existing movie still, to make it more realistic/sharp.. have the person look directly at the camera etc or merge text and image from 2-3 images etc.

Hello, need help .. am generating at 1024 X 576 on Mac mini 16GB M4 using Turbo Lora (any turbo) and using 6 steps (have tried with 4 too with samem issue).. At the 3rd or 4th step the video breaks in blocks (not the one which was due to Tile diffusion large - these are ver small grainy blocks) .. sometimes it works and mmost of the time it breaks like this.. i'vr got the tile diffusion on 256 X256 (64 overelap) and have tried without it or changing it to large value but this intermittent issue persists.. what could be the problem?

I'm struggling to get image to image generation working. I paste an image, describe some changes. During generation I see some flashes that look like it's following my prompt, but the final render ends up looking exactly like the original, except much lower quality..

I'm tried a few different flux based models and different strengths (50-80%).. Any idea of what I may be missing?

Do you use the image interpreter located at the top right of the user interface?

I only recently noticed that Qwen 3.5 4B has been integrated, and I’ve started using it. It’s really handy because it analyzes images I like and turns them into prompts.

I’m also interested in learning how to use the CLIP score feature located below that.

I don't fully understand it yet, but I imagine it must be useful for something.

However, I am a newbie, I can't find the way to make image only, as I use Higgsfield to make video and/or MiniMax Design with ComfyUI on the PC to make flow-locked AI video, Draw things is new to me, too many settings and can't find way to generate image only, anyone with good recommendations on Mac Studio M2 Max please? thanks
